Good Evening Raiders, On November 8 th , 2016 the United States completed its most honored tradition: the peaceful transition of power and the election of the 45 th president of the United States. I want to thank each and every member of raider country who participated in the election process. Secondly, I’d like to congratulate President-elect Donald Trump, our new First Lady Melania Trump, and their entire family for their successful campaign. Finally, I’d like to thank Secretary Clinton for her hard fought battle in the race to the White House. This was a very unique election season. We had numerous candidates on both sides that were not only passionate about holding our nation’s highest office, but also shared many of the values that we hold close to our hearts. While the results might have shown a divided electorate, they lack the ability to see the true values we hold highest as Americans. Although our country might seem polarized today, I assure you that our commonalities strongly outnumber our differences. Regardless of whom you voted for, we elect a President not to solve our problems, but to champion our troubles and resolve them with us. We cannot always have a president who shares the same value as each one of us, but we do have the ability to challenge them responsibly and work with them diligently. Our nation is much greater because of our diversity of opinions, but that also makes it more difficult. Our needs as a country are diverse and complex, but our strength resides in our ability to overcome. In the words of our 42 nd President, “There is nothing wrong about America that can’t be cured by what is right about America.” In one evening very little has changed. We still have the issues that we had yesterday. We must continuously engage ourselves in our community to make this country better than before. No one president can solve all of our problems nor stop the progress of our nation. No president can throw away the principles and ideologies of this land. Change has to happen every day and it has to happen locally. Our commitment and allegiance to the United States has never ended and will not end in an evening where we exercised our right to vote. Before I end, I’d like to thank President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama on their successful presidency. Their grace and dignity in the White House lead our country toward a brighter tomorrow. We owe them our gratitude. In the coming years, I look forward to seeing what our new government has to offer. With progress we must celebrate and when facing opposition we must stand united. It has never been about Red OR Blue, but has always been about Red AND Blue. Those principles shaped our great nation and will do so in the future. Lukas Wenrick Student Body President

Good Evening Raiders,

On November 8th, 2016 the United States completed its most honored tradition: the peaceful transition of power and the election of the 45th president of the United States.

In the words of our 42nd President, “There is nothing wrong about America that can’t be cured by what is right about America.”

In one evening very little has changed.
