HALF A CENTURY OF STYLE — MOBILIA CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF CREATIVITY, INSPIRATION AND DESIGN

Montreal – January 21, 2016 – The new year marks half a century of style, design and creativity at MOBILIA, the first furniture retailer to introduce European pieces into Canada on a large scale. Anniversary collections, special displays, citizen action and new partnerships: in 2016 the entire MOBILIA family embarks on an unforgettable year of celebrations !

Since 1966, MOBILIA’s passionate team has made it a priority to offer innovative style, exclusive furniture and unique designs inspired by the latest trends.

“From the very first pieces of furniture imported from Europe to Canada by my father, MOBILIA has endeavoured to offer Canadians everything they need to furnish a world of their own,” states Johannes Kau, President of MOBILIA. “I am extremely proud of the confidence and loyalty shown by our customers over these five decades. Our 50th anniversary is the perfect opportunity to show them our appreciation and celebrate half a century of style and innovative designs.”

LIMITED EDITION MID-CENTURY COLLECTIONSActivities surrounding MOBILIA’s 50th anniversary will kick off in February: the company logo will be dressed up in festive accents to mark the occasion and a riveting ad campaign will be launched. Furthermore, exclusive anniversary collections designed by the MOBILIA team will hit the stores. These new collections will be included in the Spontaneous World—one of the four MOBILIA worlds, which feature current trends and innovative designs. They include modern, updated pieces inspired by Hans Kau’s very first importations.

RESHAPING THE WORLD WITH THE MOBILIA FOUNDATION MOBILIA announces the creation of the MOBILIA Foundation that will launch in spring 2016. One spirit of giving, two missions: to help less fortunate families enjoy more comfortable living spaces; to encourage up-and-coming designers through grants, internships and other stimulating challenges in collaboration with educational institutions. Every little bit makes a difference.

SUMMER 2016: SPOTLIGHT ON FIVE DECADES, FIVE UNIQUE ERASSince 1966, MOBILIA has kept in step with latest trends and designs, decade after decade. The accessories and furniture that have marked the way speak to this successful journey. These pieces will be showcased in five giant cubes that will offer a glimpse back through the history of MOBILIA. From 1966 to 2016, discover iconic pieces from five decades of artful living, all in a comfortable museum setting.

During the summer, stores will also display a beautiful collection of thematic posters presenting visual retrospects of various decorative art styles from the 60s—the decade that saw the foundation of MOBILIA. Make room for these gems in your world!

FALL 2016: PROMOTIONS, CREATIONS AND CREATORS TAKE THE STAGEBack-to-school 2016 will be bustling with events that are sure to please customers and attract them to MOBILIA stores. All this buzz will be crowned by another collection, designed by a well-know Canadian personality, which will bring together a small, limited series of furniture pieces and accessories.
