CONTACT: Jeffrey Hoffman for Music at St. Alban’s 646 271 5980 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JUILLIARD FLUTE PROFESSOR CAROL WINCENC TO REPLACE INDISPOSED TANYA WITEK IN “GENTLE AND POWERFUL WINDS” ON FEBRUARY 25, 2007 ON THE MUSIC AT SAINT ALBAN’S SERIES Staten Island, NY – February 19, 2007 – Music at Saint Alban’s announced today that, due to a medical emergency, flutist Carol Wincenc will replace Tanya Witek in the Witek-Begelman- Gelman Woodwind Trio, in “Gentle and Powerful Winds” – a concert of music from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Twentieth-Century eras composed or arranged for woodwind trio on Sunday, February 25, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. The concert will take place in the parish church of historic Saint Alban’s Episcopal Church, 76 Saint Alban’s Place, Eltingville, Staten Island 10312. Tickets for this concert are $15 for adults and $10 for senior citizens and students and may be purchased by calling 718-984-7756 or by visiting www.MusicatSaintAlbans.org . A gala reception in the church’s parish hall will follow the performance. As previously announced, this exciting concert of woodwind trios will feature works by Georges Auric, Franz Joseph Haydn (London Trio, Hob. IV, Es 1), Stephen Foster (arranged by Krystof Witek), Scott Joplin, Ignace Pleyel (Woodwind Trio No. 2 in C major) and Franz Peter Schubert (arranged by David Karp), among others. This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, by a generous grant from the Citigroup Foundation and by a JPMorgan Chase Regrant in partnership with the Council on the Arts and Humanities for Staten Island (COAHSI). She has appeared in every major New York concert hall, including four consecutive seasons in Lincoln Center’s “Great Performers” Series. Equally in demand abroad, Ms. Wincenc has given acclaimed performances with the London Symphony, the English and Stuttgart Chamber Orchestras and at numerous international music festivals. Ms. Wincenc has recorded for the Musical Heritage, Decca, Nonesuch and Deutsche Grammophon labels. She is presently professor of flute at The Juilliard School of Music in New York City.
