(Fort Wayne, IN) - The 5th Annual Fort4Fitness Festival gets underway Friday, September 28th, and continues on Saturday, September 29th at Parkview Field. Fort4Fitness has grown every year, and for the 5th consecutive year, Fort4Fitness has set a new record for registered participants in Fort4Fitness events.
The Fort4Fitness Festival Expo will be held on Friday from 1 - 8 pm, and includes packet pick-up and the fi nish of the Kids Marathon and Seniors Marathon, both starting at 6:30 pm. Saturday’s races get started with the 4 Mile Run/Walk at 7:30 am, followed by the Half Marathon at 8:00 am, and the 10K starts at 9:00 am.
Fort4Fitness 2012 by the numbers: 9,809 - Total number of registered participants in all Fort4Fitness events in 2012 (Half Marathon, 10K, 4 Mile Run/Walk, Kids Marathon, Seniors Marathon) 8,968 - Number of registered participants in Saturday races (Half Marathon, 10K, 4 Mile) 26 (+1) - Number of states represented (plus the District of Columbia) 3 - Number of countries represented (U.S.A., Canada, Great Britain) 62% Female / 38% Male Participants range in age from 3 to 95 38 - Average age of our participants 2,737 (28%) - Participants who tell us Fort4Fitness 2012 is their fi rst road race EVER! 4,694 (48%) - Participants who tell us 2012 is their fi rst Fort4Fitness race 996 - Number of kids (age 14 & under) participating in one of the Fort4Fitness events (includes Kids Marathon and all Saturday races) 1,526 - Number of seniors (age 55 & over) participating in one of the Fort4Fitness events (includes Seniors Marathon and all Saturday races) 1,176 - Number of participants registered to run for one of the offi cial F4F Charity Partners 1,200 (+) - Number of volunteers coming together this week to make Fort4Fitness possible
A complete schedule of events is attached to this press release on an additional page. Please use the attached schedule to plan your coverage of Fort4Fitness this weekend. Also included with this press release are several additional attachments, including course maps, a complete list of road closures for the weekend, and a listing of vendors who will be participating in the Fort4Fitness Festival Expo.
A new addition to the Festival this year, is a Post-Race Party and 5th year celebration of Fort4Fitness, which will be located on the Centerfi eld Concourse at Parkview Field. Live music and concessions will be available Saturday from 8 am - 1 pm, so participants are encouraged to stick around after the race and celebrate their accomplishment with their family and friends.
