FINDING YOUR FEET

WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?

The Finding Your Feet (FYF) fashion show is the brainchild of Jane Larbi. In 2009, Jane established Finding Your Feet

to give something back to the Diana Award which had provided her with support and encouragement on her

community work. 2009 marked the first fashion show held at Movida. Jane Larbi held the show in aid of the Diana

Award supported by many high-end sponsors within the fashion and beauty industry resulting in a glamorous

evening. The next FYF fashion show is planned for 7th October 2011; this show promises to be even better than last

years.

Finding Your Feet is social enterprise limited company providing young people with exposure to the fashion industry

and experience in all aspects of events management from marketing to choreography, stage design to project

management. The event showcases the work of creative, innovative and unique graduate designers, who are at the

start of their journey in the fashion industry and provides introductions to established designed who can help realise

their dreams of a career in the fashion industry.

Jane obtained sponsorship and support from the fashion and beauty industry to produce the event at minimal cost

raising £25,000 over two years. She has now offered to support KidsOut with an expanded event, generating an

important new source of income for the charity.

Jane Larbi was quoted as saying “I know just how important this recognition can be in an era where young people

are generally portrayed in such a pejorative light. Receiving the Diana Award has been life-changing for me. It has

empowered me to make a positive change to society and opened up so many opportunities so I can continue with

my community work.”

Inspiring Young People

FYF is ultimately about helping young people...

....in the fashion industry to develop their skills and training in all areas from media to design

....work together to believe in themselves and their abilities

To help the volunteers that are a part of the show this year we have divided work experience into eight separate

categories.

Press and Media

Modelling

Designing

Stage management

Make up and volunteering

Media Production

Each of these categories is specifically tailored to suit the needs of young people who want to get involved with the

project. At the end of the fashion show, they should have concrete work experience to put on their CV’s. The

established designers and sponsors wherever possible will be able to offer expert advice on how to complete tasks

with efficiency. All groups will liaise with each other making sure that everyone is up to date with the correct

information and all channels of communication have been covered.
