The first wargame on PC, Mac, iOS and AndroidAvailable in December 2013 and to support now on Kickstarter

Wars and Battles is a breakthrough: a new gene-ration of strategy games combining the sophis-tication of tabletop wargames with the ease of new devices such as smartphones. With your support, Wars and Battles will not be just ano-ther video game, but a meeting point: we will gather both wargamers and gamers that love strategy but are disappointed by the limitations of tablet/smartphone strategy games and the complexity of PC wargames. Our goal is to build a solid community around our passion.

Numerous wargames will be proposed on the Wars and Battles portal: two battles will be released in December 2013 (Gettysburg 1863 and Normandy 1944) while five addi-tional opuses are in process, to be discove-red on our website www.warsandbattles.com. Get ready to command up to 400 land units and 50 air units, themselves mo-ved by 130 characteristics, over 20 types of terrain, under up to 15 scenarios per battle.

To design Wars and Battles, we built a team made of well-known wargame veterans (Frédéric Bey, Nicolas Stratigos…), military history experts (Colonel Michel Goya…) and a skilled team of programmers, artists, game designers... We have created an exclusive system, adapting the rules corresponding to historical contexts accurately reconstituted in our games. The game also ma-nages a wide range of parameters, including rein-forcements, supply, replenishments, fortification, unit orientation, ambushes, paratroopers,…

A tribute to Gettysburg: 150 years after...

At the beginning of July 1863, the Confederate General Lee wants to take advantage of his recent successes to start a second invasion of the North.President Lincoln wants to block his plans and sends the Army of the Potomac, under the leadership of General Meade, to meet him.June 30, 1863, a Confederate infantry brigade, searching for new shoes, approaches Gettysburg, a Pennsylvania town of 2,400 souls, and bumps accidentally into a skirmisher screen of US cavalrymen. The information is reported to General Heth who decides to send men as early as the next day to “recover their shoes”.The skirmish quickly turns to a real battle that will lead 90,000 Union soldiers and 72,000 Confederate soldiers supported by their respective artillery to fight around the town of Gettysburg. From July 1-3, 1863, this little corner of Pennsylvania will become the site of one of the Civil War’s bloodiest battle and a decisive confrontation for the future of the United States.

As a tribute to the 150th anniversary of Gettysburg, this battle will be the first released with Wars and Battles.

Miami, June 26, 2013 – Wars and Battles, a revolutionary turn-based strategy games will be available through Kickstarter from July, 15th 2013 to August, 25th 2013

On July, 15th 2013 a Kickstarter will be released dedicated to Wars and Battles. It will be the introduction of an ambitious turn-based strategy game combining the sophistication of tabletop wargames with the ease of use of new devices such as smartphones and tablets

A portal to many battles. Wars and Battles will be launched in December 2013 with two battles (Gettysburg 1863 and Nor-mandy 1944), and five additional battles in the pipeline will be released in the first half 2014 (Austerlitz 1805, Kharkov 1943, Market Garden 1944, The Korean War 1950-51, October War 1973).

An experienced team. Wars and Battles has been designed by board wargaming veterans: Nicolas Stratigos, editor in chief of the famous Vae Victis wargames magazine, and Frédéric Bey, a specialist on Napoleonian wargames, together with officers and historians. The development team is made up of experienced artists and programmers, plus the veteran game designer Pascal Luban.

Realism at its highest. To make this wargame as realist as possible, every unit (and there are hundreds in every battle) is defined by more than 130 characteristics such as its life points, quality, movements, attack points, movement capacity per terrain, command bonus, replenishment capacity, supply consumption, anti-tank and anti-air characteristics, capacity to perform strategic movements and engage in pursuits, etc.). Most of the rules of tabletop wargames are embedded within Wars and Battles.

An easy and intuitive gameplay for everyone. Our game is developed for tablets, smartphones, PC and MAC, implying that the complete range of sophisticated rules inherent to traditional board wargames is coupled with the fantastic ease of tablets and smartphones: the gameplay is immersive and the games accessible to everyone.

We are on Kickstarter! Everyone on the team is incredibly excited about the possibilities this Kickstarter will bring to Wars and Battles. It is an amazing source of energy, awareness and funding.

About Kermorio. Kermorio is an indie studio based in Miami (Florida) and Luxembourg, with a development team based in Paris (France). Kermorio’s objective is to create, with Wars and Battles, a video game that will be a meeting point for gamers fond of strategy games, history and battles. Our dream is to build a solid community around our passion.

Wars and Battles is a project with a huge ambition: to reconcile the sophistication of traditional wargames with the ease of use of new devices such as smartphones and tablets. This game is not only made for wargamers, but for all the gamers that love strategy but are annoyed both by tablet/smartphone strategy games limitations and by PC wargames complexity. We hope that with your support, Wars and Battles will not be just another video game, but a meeting point for gamers fond of strategy games, history and battles. Our dream is to build a solid community around our passion.

Wars and Battles is not only a game, it is a portal: it will be launched in December 2013 with two battles (Gettysburg 1863 and Normandy 1944).Then, we plan to launch at least one battle every two months and we have already five additional battles in the pipeline (Austerlitz 1805, Kharkov 1943, Mar-ket Garden 1944, The Korean War 1950-51 and October War 1973) that will all be launched in the first half of 2014.

Our game manages more than 20 types of terrain, up to 400 land units, 50 air units and 15 different sce-narios. The game also manages anti-tank and anti-air weapons, weather, paratroopers, reinforcements, sup-ply, replenishments, fortification, unit orientation and most of the sophisticated rules that you can find in any tabletop wargame. The difference with Wars and Battles is that it has been designed both by tabletop wargames designers and veteran video game designers who have paid par-ticular attention to the simplicity required by casual gamers.

The masterpiece of Wars and Battles is our exclusive rules system. We developed it to give Wars and Battles the opportunity to incorporate rules adapted to many historical contexts. You will have the opportunity to use jets and anti-air missiles when playing October War (1973), while line-formed regiments and cavalry charges will take the lead during Austerlitz (1805) and Gettysburg battles (1863).To make these wargames as realistic as possible, every unit (and we have hundreds in every battle) is characterized by more than 130 characteristics such as its life points, quality, attack and defense capacities, movement, terrain and command bonus, replenishment capacity, supply consumption, anti-tank and anti-air characteristics, capa-city to perform strategic movements and to do pursuits, and so on: most of the rules you know in traditional ta-bletop wargames are embedded within Wars and Battles. In order to accelerate the game flow, each turn is divi-ded into sub-steps called impulses where a player will be allowed to give a limited number of orders to move his units and/or to launch attacks. This system increases the back and forth between players and makes the game more intense.

Wars and Battles will propose 2D and 3D views, both views being complementary. The 3D view is very appealing and will provide the player only with the key information (attack points for attackers and defense points for opponents) but it will also be particularly helpful to experienced war-gamer to understand the landform of Gettysburg 1863 and the mountain roads of the Korean penin-sula (Korean War 1950).The 2D view will give the gamers the opportunity to have more details on the units and to embrace most of the map at a glance.

We pay the greatest attention to historical details: our first team member was a historian. But our game is not only a tribute to history...On our team we also love Sci-Fi and Heroic Fantasy and we expect that with the success of Wars and Battles we will be able to offer you other worlds and other en-vironnments.

Wars and Battles will be released on the most popular platforms: PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone and Android ta-blets and smartphones. More than that, your battles will be saved in the Cloud so you will be able to start a new game on your PC and to continue on your sofa with your tablet or out of your home with your smartphone.

Beyond History

Cross platform game

You will start Wars and Battles as a Soldier and, with time, experience and victories you may be promoted to General or even to Commander in Chief. This will not be an easy path as to succeed you will have to play many battles and to win most of them through limited, tactic or strategic victories.During your game, some of your achievements will award you a medal. With skills, time and luck, you may be able to nail dozens of medals on your chest… and your first medal could be the Kickstarter Backer!

With Wars and Battles you will also share your battles and achievements with your friends through Face-book or Twitter.

You will be able to play Wars and Battles as a single player thanks to the Artificial Intelligence we are currently de-signing. If the stretch goals of our Kickstarter campaign are met, we will be able to dramatically improve this Ar-tificial Intelligence by respecting the tactical and strate-gic schemes of every army and commander, as well as their evolution over time.

Wars and Battles will include an asynchronous mode, a traditional one in turn-based strategy game. But with Wars and Battles, you will be able not only to play against your friends or any opponents in the world but you will also play with them. For example when playing Normandy 1944, you will lead the American army while one of your friend will play the British, against one or two opponents that will play the Germans. You will realize how figh-ting together is a tough experience and needs coordi-nation and skills. Wars and Battles will also propose you a unique fea-ture: the ‘Blitz mode’ to play in real timing against an opponent. In this blitz mode, you will have a limited timing to decide the move and the combat of your units and will have to take the right decisions quickly, such as a General in his headquarter.

Wars and Battles team is made of both video game spe-cialists and wargame veterans. Our project leaders, game designer, lead programmer and lead artist have all wor-ked for major studios such as Electronic Arts, Activision and Ubisoft. The opportunity to work on a new project where we are able to create our game for once is a fantas-tic motivation for the team. But the specificity of Wars and Battles is the importance given to historians and wargame designers. By chance, some of the best French wargame specialists are suppor-ting our project, such as Nicolas Stratigos, editor in chief of the famous wargame magazine Vae Victis and Frederic Bey, an expert of the Napoleonic battles and author of the Jours de Gloire series. Many of our wargame designers are also engaged in the French army and have brought their experience of combat to the wargame design.Altogether, our team cumulates more than 50 years of experience in video games and 100 years in wargames.

The team

Everyone in the studio is extremely excited about the possibilities our Kickstarter will bring to Wars and Battles. It will allow our team to revive the rich tabletop war-game experience on new hardware such as tablets and smartphones.

We have a primary goal of $50,000 and we expect to reach stretch goals: each step will see additional battles being released, an improvement of our Artificial Intelli-gence, new languages available, the development of a scenario editor, etc.

In addition to Wars and Battles copies, each backer will receive amazing extra content: PDF or paper version of our Battlepedia, goodies such as medals, dog-tags, T-shirts and also the opportunity to propose and vote for the 8th battle to come and even to choose the 9th and 10th battles.

From First Class to General, all contributions will be more than welcome!

The higher it goes, the better the project gets! Support us on Kickstarter!

Frequently Asked Questions

With more than 10 scenarios per battle and between 20 minutes and 10 hours per scenario and per side, we assess that it will take more than 100 hours to complete all scenarios for both sides for just one battle. With 7 battles currently in the production pipeline, gamers will never be short of Wars and Battles challenges.

How many hours of gameplay can be expected?

Yes, Wars and Battles can be played solo or with other players. When solo, the gamer will play against an Artificial Intelligence: this will give him the capability to play when disconnected from the network or just to relax alone without the stress of playing against other gamers. The multiplayer game will give the player the possibility to play against his friends or with them against other opponents or against the IA.

Can Wars and Battles be played solo and multiplayers?

Yes it can! We, too, have been surprised to see how well our concept is suited for smartphones. The first enabler is that since a player has to concentrate his attention on a particular combat, generally involving a maximum of 8 or 10 hexes, the size of such a combat perfectly suits the size of a smartphone screen. The se-cond enabler is the fantastic ease of use provided by the 3D engine that brings a lot of fluidity to the player’s movements and gives him the opportunity to embrace the full battlefield in a few finger swipes.

Can such a sophisticated strategy game be played on a smartphone?

The initial release will be in English and French. If our Kickstarter raises enough funding, we will also in-clude Russian, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Japanese and Chinese! We are looking for ways of translating the game for our fans all over the rest of the world in other languages to give access to Wars and Battles to the largest audience possible.

What languages will Wars and Battles be in?

All the data related to Wars and Battles will be saved in the cloud. This means that when the player connects his device (PC, smartphone, tablet, etc.) to the network, it will log in to his Wars and Battles account to load his saved battles.

How does the multiplatform work exactly?

Wars and Battles supports Windows PC, Macintosh OS X, iOS (iPad and iPhone) and Android. We could also launch Wars and Battles on Surface, Blackberry 10, and also consoles Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft or Ouya consoles, but we will wait for gamer’s feedback before starting these adaptations. It’s too early in development to give hardware requirements. Our target is to run on older machines and to support a wide variety of hardware. We will be announcing the system requirements at a later date, so stay tuned for an announcement down the road.

What about supported platforms, other platforms and system requirements?

We are aiming to release the two first battles on iOS in December 2013. Other battles will be released du-ring the first semester of 2014.

When is the game expected to be finished?

Secure the detail assemblies on the center of each road wheel with glue. Now remove a length of the shorter lower tracks and curl one end, ink side up. Attach this end to the front sprocket, from almost the top, and lead back to the road wheels. Check for alignment as the track sets to the sprocket. Apply small spots of glue to the bottom of the road wheels and trail the tracks to the rear sprocket. Trim to length and curl the track around the rear sprocket and secure with glue.

Next take a length of the longer upper tracks, curl one end, ink side up (or out) and glue that end over the white visible area of the lower tracks at the front. Trail the tracks back over the road wheels toward the rear

Finally, insert a length of floral wire or guitar string into the circular an-tenna mount and secure into place with glue. Color any exposed white areas, gun barrels, and edges with the appropriate color of acrylic paint. Enjoy!

Next remove the three viewing blocks in the box marked 16. Carefully score, fold, and secure into shape with glue at the corners. Attach these into place on the turret roof with glue. Now remove the turret searchlight parts (31). Score, fold over, and secure flat the light and support arm with glue between the halves. Form the circular light back into a shallow cone with glue at the tab. Attach into place at the back of the light with glue at the edges. Secure the search light assembly into place, on the left side of the turret, with glue. Next remove the turret ring. Form into a loop and test fit in the circular hull openings before securing into shape with glue. Attach into place to the turret roof with glue at the upper edges of the turret ring. SEE FIGURE 3.

sprocket. Apply some spots of glue to the top of the road wheels. Gently bend and affix the tracks. Curl the free end of the tracks over the rear sprocket and the white visible area of the lower tracks at the rear. Trim length if needed and check alignment. Repeat the process for the other side.
