COMPANY NEWS SBM Mineral Processing Expands all along the Line SBM Mineral Processing, an Austrian enterprise with a long-standing tradition, ranks among the leading manufacturers of mineral processing and conveying plants for natural stones and recycling industries, and concrete mixing plants for prefab and ready-mixed concrete as well as the corresponding service & support. In August 2011, SBM was taken over by the shareholders of the company MFL - Maschinenfabrik Liezen und Gießerei Ges.m.b.H. This take-over was aimed at using the synergies existing between MFL and SBM to strengthen both brands known for highest possible quality standards in the global market. In January 2013, this process was successfully completed by integrating MFL’s Division Mineral Processing into SBM. Together, SBM and MFL have more than 120 years of technological know-how and 130 employees. INTEGRATION: MFL Mineral Processing Part of SBM In the beginning of 2013, Sales, Design and After Sales Service of MFL’s Division Mineral Processing were integrated into SBM Mineral Processing GmbH. Manufacturing takes place within the company Maschinenfabrik Liezen und Gießerei Ges.m.b.H. This last step has completed the integration process of both enterprises. The announced strategy “we take the best of both brands“ was also realised when combining the companies. One example for this successful process is the mobile crushing and screening plant REMAX 1111 MAXI delivered to the Netherlands last year. Crusher and electric system were supplied by MFL, control system, conveyor belts, chutes and screens were provided by SBM. The new bauma exhibition plant REMAX 1112 MAXI is another example for successfully making use of synergies: SBM will provide the proven control system, radio control offering additional functions will be supplied by MFL. EXPANSION: Concrete Branch Covers Stationary Concrete Mixing Plants Again SBM has not only boosted in the field mineral processing, the segment concrete technology has been set to expansion as well. In October 2012, stationary concrete mixing plants were added to the concrete branch again making SBM a full-range supplier for prefab and ready-mixed concrete. The high-quality supplier from Upper Austria does not break entirely new ground with stationary concrete mixing plants. Since the beginning of the 1980s, numerous stationary plants were built all over the world. Ing. Gerhard Gschwandtner and Ing. Helmuth Neubacher, a new member of the team for stationary plants, head this business field. They are supported by a team of experts with more than 35 years of experience in concrete technology. SUPPORT: Managing Director Johannes Weiermair on the Future of SBM Since last year the managing board of SBM Mineral Processing GmbH has been supported by mechanical engineer Johannes Weiermair, 46, who is looking towards the future of SBM full of confidence: the extension of the markets, a very strong team, two brands under one roof and the expansion of the product range - in the fields concrete technology and mineral processing - are at the top of his agenda. “Owing to the integration of MFL mineral processing and the expansion of the concrete business unit, SBM has 130 employees again,“ says Weiermair. PERSPECTIVE: Around the World with Mineral Processing “We will strengthen our presence in the field Mineral Processing in Russia and Africa where SBM and MFL traditionally hold strong positions. In North Africa, MFL is mainly known thanks to the mobile sector, and SBM is known due to stationary plant engineering. We will continue this path and expand to the rest of the continent.” In Russia, we currently recognise increasing demands for mobile and semi-mobile crushing and screening plants.”

In the Americas, Weiermair sees a great demand especially in Canada and Latin America. “We feel very confident that our high-quality products perfectly meet customers’ requirements especially in Latin America’s small and medium-size mining companies. Our sturdy and durable mobile plants are provided with a change-over switch for generator or mains operation and are absolutely reliable even in extreme altitudes.” Last year, SBM has begun to build an effective distributor network in Latin America and is already presented at exhibitions. ”Feedback is good; we feel confident about the future and are expanding our distributor network beyond Chile.“ PERSPECTIVE: SBM Quality Asked for in the Concrete Field ”In the segment concrete mixing plants, SBM is focussing on the DACH region, Scandinavia and Russia where demand for our high quality standard for concrete production is especially high,” summarises Weiermair the situation of the second product segment of SBM. Additionally, SBM concrete mixing plants with their “winter package” are perfectly suited for difficult weather conditions. Adding stationary concrete mixing plants to its product portfolio again makes SBM a full-range supplier for prefab and ready-mixed concrete. PRODUCT NEWS – MINERAL PROCESSING

PREMIERE: First Presentation of the New REMAX 1112 MAXI to the Expert Audience In time for the bauma 2013, SBM launches a new mobile mineral processing plant and expands the REMAX series by a powerful, economic plant. With 41 tons this mobile track-mounted plant belongs to the medium-size class of the REMAX series. The new plant REMAX 1112 MAXI offers a completely redesigned material flow making material jamming a thing of the past. The discharge conveyor belt below the screen can be optionally fixed or swivelling by 180° increasing stockpile capacity fivefold and considerable improving logistic processes. The impact crusher RHS ensures proven quality made by SBM. The rotor with a diameter of 1160 mm provides a very high energy level in the crushing chamber. Uniform crushing capacity and high throughput capacity are convincing performance parameters of the plant made by SBM. The diesel-electric drive system ensures low operating costs. REMAX 1112 MAXI is also equipped with a change-over switch for generator or mains operation further reducing operational costs. Additional features of the new SBM plant are a rotor with adjustable speed and a mounted cleaning function of the discharge chute. This plant is supplied with a frequency converter to control the speed of the return conveyor of the oversize material. Dolly-compatible compact transport dimensions and fulfilling latest environmental standards go without saying. Additional improvements include a revised control concept offering simplified operation as well as automatic feed hopper locking making the REMAX 1112 MAXI a state-of-the-art plant concerning safety specifications. The graphic scratch-proof touch display ensures easy operation of the plant with gloves. A new feature of the REMAX series is a radio control permitting simple manoeuvring of the plant, operating the magnetic separator, and adjusting the feed. Additional functions are available upon request.

EXPANSION OF PRODUCT PORTFOLIO: Reclaimer – an Economic Power Package for Homogenised Bulk Materials By developing a highly efficient reclaimer - a bridge type bucket wheel reclaimer - SBM Mineral Processing GmbH expands its product portfolio especially for processed bulk materials. This new product made by SBM is applied wherever economic handling and homogenisation of large volumes of bulk material are of paramount importance – i.e. a plant especially targeted on the demands of the extractive industry. This type of reclaimer features exceptionally high loading capacity and high availability. It is especially designed for extreme operating conditions such as ice, snow and frost. A distributing conveyor puts the processed material with a grain size of 0-8 mm in layers on two stockpiles. Then the material is fully automated reclaimed by the reclaimer and fed to the loading of wagons by means of conveyors. The SBM reclaimer stockpiles 1000 t/h at a rail gauge of 58 m and will start operation in autumn 2013. This new product development is an essential part of a major order SBM - an Austrian company with long-standing tradition - managed to obtain last year. By expanding the product portfolio in the direction of handling bulk materials for mining, port facilities and steel works industries, SBM intends to open up new customer segments. The Austrian high-quality manufacturer possesses decades of know-how in process engineering and convinces thanks to worldwide reference projects for industrial plant engineering under extreme weather conditions.

PRODUCT NEWS – CONCRETE MIXING PLANTS WE MIX IT ALL: The New SBM Programme for Mobile and Stationary Concrete Mixing Plants First things first for all EUROMIX

® customers: SBM continues manufacturing the proven super mobile

EUROMIX® series which has been in international use for 15 years as well as the containerised concrete

mixing plants. Starting with EUROMIX® 1000 with an output capacity of 65m

3/h up to EUROMIX

® 3000 CC

with a capacity of 250m3/h, all requirements of concrete production are fulfilled.

The mobile series LINEMIX

® is added to the product programme especially for those customers requiring a

mobile and individually upgradeable plant. Special emphasis should be placed on the fact that rock storage takes place in a closed high hopper with up to 670m

3 storage volume in 8 boxes. Thus, mobile plants are

suitable for year-round operation for the very first time. The series VARIOMIX

® - which is also mobile - is perfectly tailored for the requirements of cramped or urban

sites thanks to its vertical containerised design. The plant type VARIOMIX® 2500 CM 400V offers production

possibilities outmatching many stationary concrete mixing plants. SBM’s stationary scope of supply includes the two series TOWERMIX

® and LINEMIX

® which are optimally

adaptable to all customer requirements thanks to their modular design. Both TOWERMIX® and LINEMIX

®

fulfil international concrete standards and are especially long lasting due to their galvanised steel construction. Typical applications are ready-mixed and prefab concrete, tunnel building, recycling concrete and landfill mixing plants.

BY NO MEANS ORDINARY: Stationary Prefab Concrete Mixing Plant for UHPC Technically speaking, it’s very challenging to produce UHPC (ultra high performance concrete). SBM Mineral Processing GmbH ranks among the few plant manufacturers all over the world possessing appropriate know-how thanks to decades of experience in the field of prefab concrete. This special plant has been tailored to fulfil the specific requirements of the company BG Graspointner Entwässerungssysteme from Upper Austria, Austria. These specific demands included restricted construction conditions due to the given geometry wherein a multitude of devices and components had to be fitted. For example, a plastic fibre weighing and dosing machine with a dosing accuracy of 5g was included into the overall concept. The concrete mixing plant, which will start operation in Austria in March 2013, features high production capacities and low throughput times. Customers profit from constantly excellent product characteristics, reduced dead weight of the components, and reduced production costs.

HIGH MOBILITY: EUROMIX® 400C – Self-sufficient, Compact and Powerful A highly mobile unit completely self-sufficient thanks to an independent current generator and processing waste materials into concrete ready for disposal – in a nutshell that’s the description of the first EUROMIX

®

400C made by SBM. Client is the Dutch company Van Gansewinkel that processes waste materials into concrete which can be stored in a landfill on a sustainable and long-term basis. Excavated soil, bottom ashes, sludge or sieve sand are processed to concrete ready for disposal by EUROMIX

® 400C. The plant

works in continuous operation with a practical production performance of more than 400t/h and has started operation in the end of 2012. The demands made on the control system could not be met by conventional devices. Therefore, SBM developed a microprocessor control system to control the plant by laptop and WLAN. This results in essential benefits for the customer: all data is immediately available for further electronic data processing and the concrete mixing plant can be supervised online.

To reduce service and maintenance works, a specially designed high-pressure cleaning system has been installed considerably reducing running operation costs. EUROMIX

® 400C convinces due to its excellent

performance and its dimensions. It is a compact plant approved for road traffic. Photos
