Carrie Lofty - Media Biography

Born in California, raised in the Midwest, Carrie Lofty met her husband in England—the best souvenir! She earned her BA in English and history from Bowling Green State University, and her MA in history from The Ohio State University with a thesis on Old West legends.

Since departing academia in favor of make-believe, Carrie has been devoted to raising two precocious daughters and writing romance. She enjoys science fiction TV and movies, jogging, studying Shakespeare, and any opportunity to belly dance. An active member of Romance Writers of America, she belongs to the Chicago North and Wisconsin chapters.

Since her debut in 2008, Carrie’s historical romances for Zebra and Carina Press have received four stars from RT BookReviews, which declared: “Lofty writes adventure romance like a born bard of old.” In June 2010, the e-book SONG OF SEDUCTION, a sensual tale of two lovelorn musicians in Napoleonic Austria, helped launch Carina Press, Harlequin’s digital-first venture, followed in 2011 by its sequel, PORTRAIT OF SEDUCTION.

In 2011, Carrie partnered with Pocket Books to embark on a new historical series that follows the four Christie siblings across Victoria’s vast empire. FLAWLESS takes place in the diamond fields of South Africa. The tie-in prequel digital “A Little More Scandal,” and STARLIGHT followed in 2012.

Other projects with Pocket include the next two installments of the Christies, as well as a WWII-era historical romance. HIS VERY OWN GIRL will be Pocket’s first original full-length digital novel, released in September 2012 under the revamped Pocket Star imprint.

Carrie has two alter egos. The first is Ellen Connor, the pseudonym she shares with national bestselling author Ann Aguirre. NIGHTFALL, the first of their “Dark Age Dawning” trilogy of hot-n-dirty apocalyptic romances, won the 2011 RT Reviewers Choice award for Best Futuristic Paranormal Romance, and was nominated for the RWA’s prestigious RITA award. The other installments, MIDNIGHT and DAYBREAK, round out the trilogy.

As Katie Porter, Carrie co-writes with her long-time critique partner, fellow historical romance author Lorelie Brown. They have numerous contemporary erotic romances contracted with Samhaim Publishing, debuting with the “Vegas Top Guns” and to be followed by “Club Devant,” a hot, glitzy series set in a New York City burlesque club.

STARLIGHT, the “Dark Age Dawning” trilogy, the “Vegas Top Guns” series, and the Christmas m/m erotic romance CAME UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR have all received 4½ Top Pick ratings from RT BookReviews.
