Once a post of the U.S. Army, today the Presidio of San Francisco is part of the
Golden Gate National Recreation Area, one of the most visited parks in America.
The 1,500-acre Presidio is both a national park and a National Historic Landmark District. The Presidio welcomes millions of visitors each year who come to hike on the 24-mile trail network, enjoy museums, art, and cultural attractions, engage with history, and explore the Presidio’s beautiful views and wild natural areas.
The Presidio is also a community where 3,000 people live and where nearly 200 innovative organizations are located. The park is home to foundations, technology companies, non-profits, cultural institutions, recreational organizations, restaurants, and more.
