Family and Morale, Welfare & Recreation’s (Family and MWR) mission is to provide excellent support, services, programs, events, and leisure activities to Service Members of all branches (Army, Navy, Marines, and Airforce), their Families, DoD Civilians, and Retirees.

Accomplishing our mission will improve the quality of life of everyone living in the Monterey Military Community. Our programs are created to relieve stress, build strength, increase resilience and help to stay physically, mentally, and financially fit.

About the Presidio! The Presidio of Monterey (POM) is a mixed Military Branches installation located in Monterey, California. POM is the home to a very diverse military community and provides base support to Service Members serving all military branches; Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force.

Our Service Members are attending foreign language and cultural education classes at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC), which is co-located on the Presidio.

Located in Seaside, approximately 10 miles north is the Ord Military Community (OMC). OMC is a part of the Presidio of Monterey and offers family housing, childcare facilities, vehicle storage and shopping for community members at the Exchange and the Commissary.

DemographicsAs of Feb. 2012, the Monterey military community consists of roughly 13,300 members; 4,700 service Members (Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force), 3,950 family members of Service Members, 2,450 civilian employees, and 2,200 retirees.

The population at the Presidio of Monterey is steadily growing by 10% every year. Troops at POM rotate frequently (6-18 month), which means your business permanently faces new potential customers.

Our most effective way to get in touch with our community is event sponsorship. Through event sponsorship you can ac-tively interact with Service Members, Families, DoD Civilians, and Retirees, and DoD Civilians. Our eNewsletter is distributed bi-monthly via email to our customer database. We gather emails at the weekly Joint Service Member In Briefing (JSIB) and other promotions.

With 2,000 subscribers (as of Nov. 2012) you have a guaranteed target audience.

Our subscribers are mostly Active Duty Service Members.

Commercial Sponsorship

What Is Commercial Sponsorship?

A commercial sponsorship is a monetary and/or in-kind feepaid to an event manager/producer. In return, sponsors receive access to the exploitable commercial potential, such as public recognition or advertising promotions associated with the property, event, and so forth. The goal of a company or brand is to build a link in the target audiences’ minds between the sponsor and a valued organization or event.

What Is Military Commercial Sponsorship?

The Military Commercial Sponsorship Program provides sponsor recognition in accordance with AR215-1, Ch.11, section ii, iii, 11-6 through 11-17. Army commercial sponsorship is an exchange of values. Sponsorships are not gifts or donations. Corporations, associations, or individuals provide assistance or services to a Family and MWR program(s) or event(s) in exchange for advertising or promotional opportunities within the Military community.

Military commercial sponsorships require written agreements and are for a limited period of time. The program does not include the donation of volunteer services, premiums, coupons, or limited samples that are considered gifts. Because commercial sponsorship is an “exchange of values” and is considered to be a business deal, a commercial sponsorship agreement/contract is used to clarify both parties’ responsibilities to one another.

All proceeds from Military Sponsorship and Advertising are solely used for the entire installation population and are guaranteed to be used to support the quality of life of Service Members, their Families, DoD Civilians, and Retirees.

All solicitations must be made by trained sponsorship personnel.

There are two types of commercial sponsorships:

1. Solicited Sponsorship - Gained through a formal process targeting an adequate number of known U.S. sources in a competitive manner. Alcohol (including beer) and tobacco sponsors can not solicited.

2. Unsolicited Sponsorship - Comes from companies who approach Family and MWRs Commercial Sponsorship and Advertising Program with an idea and resources. Unsolicited sponsorship from alcohol and tobacco companies may be accepted.

The Military Sponsorship Mission

The mission of the Military Commercial Sponsorship Programis to support vital Family and MWR programs byobtaining private sector funding, services, or supplies inexchange for advertising and promotional opportunitieswithin the Military community.

When your company or organization partners with Family and MWR you become a part to our Military community and supporter of our mission. With your generous support we will be able to improve morale, wellness, productivity, and retention of our Military community members.

Family and MWR Events

Celebrating Military Children The month of April is all about Military children. We have 60+ vendors, attractions, live entertainment and much more to make this highlight event a special day for our Militarychildren. This event will give you the opportunity to reach out to Families in the community.

Concerts and Comedy ShowsYear-Round Family and MWR hosts several concerts/shows within the Monterey Military community. Open-air and inside.

Family and MWR Events

Operation Rising StarOperation Rising Star is an individual singing competition that spans over 4-5 weeks. Similar to American Idol and other televised competitions, participants are judged by a panelof judges and by an audience of their peers. Singers compete each week for the chance to win the local first place prize of $500. The winner of the local Operation Rising Star competition moves on to the Army-wide competition for the chance to win the Ultimate Recording Music Experience – Re-cord, Mix and Master a demo with studio professionals.

Dates: Annually | September/OctoberAttendance: 75-200 Each Event Sponsorship: Starting at $500

Family and MWR Events

Golf TournamentsFamily and MWR hosts golf tournaments every quarter onlocal golf courses, to include Poppy Hills at Pebble Beach and Monterey Pines.

Dates: QuarterlyAttendance: 80-130 Per Tournament Sponsorship: Starting at $500

UFC Fights Hobson Student Activity Center broadcasts the UFC Fights live on a 210” big screen. This gives Service Members the opportunity to stay on post and stay out of trouble. The participation is influenced by the cover charge. Supporting this event saves Service Members money and keeps them safe.

Dates: Monthly | 1-2 Fight NightsAttendance: 100+ Each Event Sponsorship: Full Event for $750 or Refreshments

BOSS/ODR Events Better Opportunities for Single Service Members (BOSS) and Outdoor Recreation (ODR) offer trips of all kinds to give Service Members and their Family the chance to explore California. Scheduled trips include San Francisco, Los Angeles, Disney®, surfing, camping, backpacking, hiking,kayaking, skiing, snowboarding and more. Sponsoring transportation or entrance fees would be a great opportunity to make a difference in a life of a Service Member.

Dates: WeeklyAttendance: 10 - 50 Depending on Destination and Scale Sponsorship: Starting at $250

Family and MWR Events

Texas Hold’em TournamentsHobson Student Activity Center hosts poker tournaments 2-3 times a year. As well as a poker series that spans over 4 weeks. The grand prize is $500, 2nd and 3rd prize win prizes as well.

Dates: QuarterlyAttendance: 40+ Per Tournament Sponsorship: Starting at $500

Armed Forces Team Building ClassesThis program is targeted towards Military spouses. Classes are held 2-3 times a month. This is a great way for our sponsors to reach out to our Soldiers’ spouses and Families.

Dates: WeeklyAttendance: 10-20 Each Class Sponsorship: Starting at $50 or Refreshments

Festival of the Arts CompetitionThis competition features the most talented performers the Presidio has to offer. Talents will be showcased on stage at the Hobson Student Activity Center in front of a live audience andjudged by a panel of national judges. Contestants compete for cash prizes and a grand prize.

We are trying to be as environmentally friendly as possible and put a lot of effort into paperless, and digital communication tools. Advertising OptionsElectronic Marquees

FMWR has three electronic marquee signs, each sign has two sides. This advertising tool is limited to text only. The signs are located at high traffic installation entry gates and guarantee maximum exposure to incoming and outgoing personnel.

Each sign holds a 5-minute slide rotation. Each ad is up to 9 seconds long and will be displayed a minimum of 288 times per day on each electronic marquee.

Advertising OptionsMobile Billboard (Vehicle Wrap/Half Wrap) FMWR has 24 vehicles in their fleet; each of them is continuously driving around at the Presidio of Monterey and commutes to Ord Military Community (Seaside) multiple times a day. Each vehicle can be a potential mobile billboard.

A vehicle wrap draws attention and could expose your brand or company directly to the target audience

Advertising spaces on our vehicles are custom and the fees vary depending on the type of vehicle, coverage and size.

Advertising OptionsVehicle Display We have several facilities with an average 1,500 people walking in and out on a daily basis. Your vehicle will be staged in the high traffic areas for maximum exposure.

Locations such as our fitness center, community center, or our three Java cafes would be prime locations for vehicle displays.
