Club meeting. — 7th May—Guest Speaker
Club Awards Dinner —14th June
President's Report - April 2008 Hi Fellow Members,
Club Member of the Year Award
At the April Committee Meeting is was decided to change the rules in relation to the awarding of the Club Member of the Year Award, so that the efforts of those hard working members who do not accumulate a lot of points under the old system can be recognised. Any club member can now nominate a member they feel is worthy of receiving the award, the Committee will then decide who is to be honoured with the award at the club’s Annual Dinner.
So if you want to nominate a member, send a short email to the Vice President, Secretary or me explaining why the person should be considered for the award.
Annual Dinner
This year’s Annual Dinner is to be held on the 14th June at The Firehouse Restaurant, 253-257 Maroondah Hwy, Ringwood. We are hoping for a bigger turn out this year as it is closer for our eastern suburbs members to attend. Full details of the dinner will be sent out soon. I hope to see you all there.
See you soon

From the Editor
Hi all.
Sorry for being a bit late with this issue but I wanted to include the trip report on the “Mines and Ghost Tour”. This trip showed that a club trip does not have to involve a lot of off-roading or bush bashing. We had quite a good attendance of club members and I believe they all enjoyed a fun and very social weekend. Many thanks to Lorraine for her work organizing the trip.
If you have an idea for a similar trip or any sort of trip why not talk to someone on the committee to see if it can be organised.
And as usual don’t forget to send me your photos articles, etc.

Tr ip report Mines Tour 25 -27th Apr i l , 2008
Members attended: Ray & Lorraine Walker, Bronco & Lorraine Milic-Zumberski, Marc & Karen Drew, Marcus Nash, Barb & Eddie Tabaka, Jack Dalrymple, Steve & Donna Aicher, Chris, Elli & Greg Detlefsen.
Started the meeting place at Moe McDonalds 12.30pm on Friday, every one was there early. One couple, not to mention names thought they would get up there nice and early. They got into Moe on Thursday night at 6.00pm, then proceeded
to the camp site at Codes Flat, which was about an hours drive away. Some one got lost taking the wrong turn, ended up at Eildon and didn’t get to the camp site till 11.30 pm, waking up the owners. If only we had the fine system going, we would have made heaps of money.
Speedy Gonzalez (you know who I’m taking about) was pulled over just before Moe doing 120klms. Then in Moe we had to wait for some-one to buy there grog before we could set off. We headed off about 1.15pm, I was the navigator and Ray the driver, I thought I would be smart and use the GPS, but it wanted us to go a different direction towards Walhalla instead of Erica. In the end I turned it off. Had trouble reading the map as the sign posts were too small and Ray was driving too fast, that’s my story and I’m stick-ing to it.
Finally found Donnelly’s Creek Road which is 3klms down a narrow winding road with a drop off on one side wouldn’t like to pass another vehicle coming the other way. At the end of the road is the camp ground, and it was first in, best spot.
“What‘s something positive I can say about the place? Mmm, they had excellent shower and toilet facilities. There is no electricity but they have solar power for lights. Works OK as long as you don’t forget to turn off your cabin light when you go out all day, hey Marc?”
We all found a spot to pitch up tents or share a cabin with other club members. After we had settle in we sat around and chatted cooked up tea, Rudi had an oz spit cooking up beef and pork for us all to taste, very tender, drank a bit more and went to bed. We had fine drizzle Friday night, waking up to a cloudy day on Saturday.
Rudi led the tour at 9.00am, in total there were 12 cars. Only 5 from our group, the rest were guests Rudi had in-vited along. We drove 40min away to meet up with a geolo-gist Peter Jackson who took us into a couple of mines. Rudi showed us some old ruins and, using your imagination, where old ruins were. Could’ve shown me any piece of flat ground I would have believed him. The day was pleasant we had lots of laughs, did heaps walking and sliding down slopes. Rudi was always saying just a “short walk” but his “short walk” was a lot different to my “short walk”. You had to be a mountain goat at times to do the terrain - no good if you have bad knees.

At 5.00pm we headed back to camp taking the quick route using 4WD tracks as the rain had held up all day. The tracks were dry and very hilly; this took an hour off our time to get back. Arrived back at camp at 6.00pm cooked dinner just finished eating and cleaning up when down came the rain which settled in for the rest of the night. It rained heavy on and off all night. Some of us went to bed early, while others stayed and “socialised” most of the night. A certain person had to be put to bed!!
Sunday morning woke up to a little drizzle then fined up enough to pack up the camper trailer, cooked breakfast for Ray, Bronc, Lorraine, and myself, had enough food left over so
cooked up for Marcus, & Jack. We left camp site at 10.00 taking all our gear with us, except for Barb & Eddie who had to come back later as they were too slow packing up.
We drove a short distance away to look at a couple more mines. The rain held off until we got back into the cars about 12.20, saying good bye to every one and headed home. We took the short route to East Warburton via Matlock, where it was snowing and it became heavier as we went through. It snowed for 20 klms, pity we forgot to pack the camera. Overall we all enjoyed the week-end away, lots of laughs, and great company.

FIVE RULES FOR MEN TO FOLLOW TO A HAPPY LIFE:
1. It's important to have a woman, who helps at home, who cooks from time to time, cleans up and has a job.
2. It's important to have a woman, who can make you laugh. 3. It's important to have a woman, who you can trust and who doesn't lie to you.
4. It's important to have a woman, who is good in bed and who likes to be with you.
5. It's very, very important that these four women do not know each other!!
