The wait has finally been over. Feb 9, 10, 11 marked yet another milestone in the history of Erode Ortho club. The 40th

Annual Conference of the Tamilnadu Orthopaedic Association hosted by the Erode ortho club was a grand success. Iam equally proud to be the leader of the young and efficient team.

The preparation had started one year back with specific focus on CME and guest lectures. Members airing their viewsto have a different format of CME was conceived. From it was born the topic of clinical dilemmas in day to dayorthopaedic practice. VvT e had an overwhelming response to the CME programme and saw the highest registration(315) in the history of CME in TNOA conference. The hall was jam-packed with very little movements in the hall anddelegates seated till the end.

The speakers carefully chosen also delivered the subjects to the point and was appreciated by all. To cap the sessionthe workshops organized saw members attending in large numbers.

This was followed by evening dinner at the pool side of Club Melaange. It was a perfect evening for the delegates torelax and unwind themselves and get in to high sprits.

The day 2 started with remaining delegates registering their names for the conference. Total number of delegatesregistered for this conference were 606 (six hundred and six). The second day Scientific programmes started in allthree halls at 8.30 AM. The orations got off to fantastic start with packed crowds. The inaugural function went onsmoothly with honouring four of our members (Dr.Mayilvahanan Natarajan, Dr.S.Rajasekaran, Dr.I.V.Muthu andDr.P.T.Saravanan) for their respective work in orthopaedics.

The Medal paper session, Free paper session and the poster sessions were briskly attended. The scientific committeesaw that the delay in the programme was covered and finished on time.

The stalls drew a poor response on day one, due to undivided attention of the delegates in the CME. The delegatesvisited the stall in large numbers on day 2 and day 3. There was an overwhelming response by the exhibitors and thesponsors. We are ever greatful to all of them. We had 8 international instruments company stalls, 45 national instrumentscompany stalls and 13 pharmaceuticals company stalls. The day 2 saw the shuttle tournament being completed and lawn tennis introduced for the first time. Of course theresponse to Tennis tournament was not overwhelming but very encouraging. Hats off to the sports team for making allthe competitions enjoyable. Our thanks to the Nilgiris Recreation dub and correspondent BVB School Erode for thesmooth conduction of the events. The long awaited Banquet dinner took off with flying colours marked by a welcome dance and very colourful crackersdisplay. The entertainment programme kept the delegates spellbound with dance and songs. The delegates also keptthe audience spellbound by bringing out the hidden talents in them. They danced till wee hours in the morning. once thesprits had died down late night the transport team put back everybody in their respective rooms. The final day also drew large crowd to hear the guest lectures and free papers. The total number of free papers andmedal papers were 122, guest lectures 16 and posters 29. It was truly an academic feast for the delegates. The ladies wing took care of the ladies with a pilgrimage tour to Sangameswarar temple at Bhavani and Kodiveri dam. They had a wonderful expenence.A special mention for catering and beverages team for their excellent work done. I am sure everybody will vouch fortheir work. The occasion was marked by me getting elected as the Vice President of our esteemed association in the general bodymeeting. At the end it was a wonderful experience for me to have finished the show successfully and I wish to thank one and allfor those who have contributed to the success of this conference.
