Well we had a fairly active summer this year with our club, and a good break from regular monthly meetings. I hope all members enjoyed the break and I would love to see more members get out and enjoy the events put on by the club like the camp out , or the A&W cruise, the J&L Port Alberni run, the cruise inns and more. Hopefully those of you that did not attend will hear how much fun they were and get out and join in for next year. One of my fa- vourites this year was the camp out and I know all that attended had a ball! Lots of social time , a couple cruises, some good weather and some not so good. You do not need an RV to get in- volved as with it right here in town you can just come to the events. We have booked the Living Forest Camp- ground for next year , same dates Our Corn roast last weekend was enjoyed by many it was great to see so many out ! The corn was fantastic coming from Mcnabbs in Yellowpoint. October is nomination month so please come prepared to our October meeting. Those of you that are now directors if you could email me and let me know your inten- tions for next year. I need to step away from Presi- dent for a year or two as I have been nominated to the Chairman of the Board of the Building Supply Industry of British Columbia for a two year pe- riod. I will be involved in the club I just can’t jug- gle both. Our Christmas party is planned for De- cember 1 st at The Bold Night and I will bring de- tails to the October meeting as for the costs and times. Hopefully It’s not yet time to put your cars away , we will hope for ex- cellent fall weather and maybe get one or two more cruises in. See you at the October meeting. V9R 5M2 How things have changed. I was at a garage sale the other day and picked up a 1946 B.C. Motor-Vehicle Drivers Manual. (for a quarter) One of the inter-esting things was under section 6 Liquor. To quote the manual “Alcohol has a habit of giving a false sense of security and ex-hilaration, while at the same time it affects your reaction time, and warps your judgment of distance and speed. The same amount of alcohol which may completely upset one person may have no outward effect on another person, so that any person who does not know at what point alcohol affects his driving should never drive after having partaken of any.”

Also back then the learners license was only good for 90 days and you could get your drivers license when you 15 years old. The things you find a yard sales.
