March has come and gone and now we are almost halfway through April…Our past meeting was quite productive. We had 15 members come and enjoy painting and working together for our preparations for the conference tables. Andie Scott has done a fantastic job guiding and directing us. We all were delighted with her capable guidance. We still need to complete some items in our coming April 22nd
meeting. So bring your hands and your hearts to complete to be ready for May 16-20th Daytona Conference…My bags are almost packed! Are yours? We want you all to enjoy this great time away at the beach. Also keep in mind preparing for our October luncheon for recycled and repurposed items. Look around for items that could be used. One area would be the garage sales springing up all over. We will be talking more about this later. But now is the time to start planning and doing. We have been able to reschedule Mark Menendez for January 13-14. If you paid for this past month, it will take care of the seminars for this date. The same items to paint and to use color pencil: the Golden Iris and the Cardinal. Stephanie Pooler will keep you informed. If you haven’t signed up for this from last time, you may still sign up and if you want to pay in installments, talk to Stephanie about that. Also, this month we anticipate working on the biblical mural of Jesus and the children at the Haines City-Davenport Methodist Church. This will be under the direction of Judi Arntz. You may contact her when she will be at the church to work. Her email is [email protected]. I will give her phone number if you email me or call me.

(Continued from Page 1) On a personal note, if you have a weekend slot to come to Sebring to the Highland’s Little Theater, my husband is the producer for a fantastic broadway musical, “Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.” The shows are on Wednesdays and the weekend days, Friday pm, Saturday and Sunday. Even this Tuesday has opened up since it’s a sell out and so popular! And if you are in Lake Placid on the 9th, my son in law, Keith Goodson, will be painting at the Genesis Center of First Presbyterian at 4 pm. He will be doing the speed painting to music. Something else for sure to see. As you can see April is full of wonderful things to come. Be sure to come to our meeting on the 22nd. Can’t wait to see you all! ☺ Sincerely, Barbara Fowler President

We had a really good turnout for our last
meeting and got lots done for the
convention tables. We all had a very good
time. Andie Scott did such a wonderful job
on all the decorations that she came up
with. Ours will be the two most beautiful
tables. Thank you all and especially
Andie!!!!!
I have talked with Mark Menendez about
coming in January of 2018 and we are on
their schedule for January 13th
and 14th
,
2018. We will be doing the same projects
that had been selected for the seminar that
was cancelled. We have already bought all
the paints and pencils so we’re good to go.
April 22nd
will be our Philanthropic
program. Bring your boxes and share your
ideas of how to paint them. We will also
finish anything that needs to be done for
the convention.
The projects scheduled for the remainder
of the year are listed in the 2017 Project
Calendar on this page.
We have decided to help paint a mural in
the nursery at the new Methodist church in
Haines City. Judi Arntz will be providing the
details for this project soon.
Don’t forget that October 28th
will be our
"Ladies Luncheon". Please be painting so
we will be ready for this GREAT event!!!
HAPPY PAINTING ALL!

Do you have some painting books or pattern
packets you will probably never use? Or you have
used them and won’t be using them again? Bring
them in for the Ways and Means table.
And don’t forget your birthday surprise for the
table. Your birthday only comes once a year, bring
something special, painting related and gift
wrapped, for the Ways and Means table.
LaMoyne’s CHOCOLATE CHERRY CAKE
2 cups flour ¾ cup sugar ¾ cup vegetable oil 2 eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla 2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 large can cherry pie filling 1 package chocolate chips (6 oz.) 1 cup chopped pecans Preheat oven to 350˚. Grease and flour a bundt or tube pan. Combine ingredients and bake 50-60 minutes…cool and invert onto plate. * I found that the chocolate chips and cherries are better folded in rather than beaten with the other ingredients. This is a moist cake and does not need frosting.

Getting Ready for the SDP Conference in Daytona Beach! By Vicki Alley
Fellow CRDA members:
The time is almost here and I hope you are as excited to attend this conference as I am!
If anyone took the large shells home to decorate or paint, please be sure and bring them with you to
the April meeting. We are going to place these shells around the conference center with a note inside
telling people to bring it to our booth at the Chapter Marketplace for their chance to win a painter’s
gift basket. And speaking of the painter’s gift basket, I know you all have some things at the house
that you have bought and never used. Do you have something new and unused you can donate to put
in the gift basket? Please bring those items with you to the April meeting.
Andie has done a fantastic job at designing our two tables for the banquet and I can’t wait to see
everything when they are all done! Thank you Andie for all your hard work!!
Also, if you have any tickets sold or unsold for the quilt, please bring them with you to the April
meeting. We want to make sure we have them all when we pull the winning ticket at the conference.
Vicki Alley, TDA
