2018 will continue to be a strong year at Senior Helpers with tremendous opportunities to enhance our services through new technology, service offerings, and strategic partnerships.

As we enter 2018, I am most excited about the future of our industry and especially Senior Helpers. All the trends in the healthcare industry are positive. The “Silver Tsunami” is upon us and the data and the numbers show that Senior Helpers is well positioned for success. Approximately 10,000 baby boomers are turning 65 each day and 88% of them have at least one chronic illness. Once a person reaches the age of 65, they have a 22-year life expec-tancy. 96% of seniors want to live out their life in their own home. Nearly half of the seniors’ adult children live almost 300 miles away from their parents. Finally, our health care system is moving more to “value-based pric-ing” instead of “fee for service,” as well as bringing more health care services into the home and community. Despite these fantastic trends, Senior Helpers must adapt to take full advantage of these opportunities. That is why 2018 is such an exciting year for Senior Helpers.

As I mentioned at our Annual Conference, SH Franchising is investing more than $1M into our corporate infrastructure and marketing. We have invested in critical areas such as Caregiver Strategy, Technology, Service Offerings, and Strategic Development to position us in the best possible situation to take advantage of these trends. In addition, we have invested in our Corporate Stores to provide us with “Test Kitchens” to pilot many these initiatives to ensure that they are fully vetted for you when they are rolled out.

In 1914, the Panama Canal was opened. This almost 50-mile canal connects the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Prior to the canal being built, ships had to sail around Cape Horn at the southern end of South America. The Panama Canal saved 8,000 nautical miles for ships that sailed between the east coast and west coasts of the United States. In the ever-changing healthcare industry, companies that create more efficiencies in their organizations will see dynamic growth and success. 2018 is a transformational year for Senior Helpers and we have aligned our resources to make this happen.

I have always felt that the biggest advantage that Senior Helpers has is its owners. We have the best owners in the industry and our 2017 President’s Club qualifiers are setting great examples for all of us to strive for in 2018. In 2017, we had the most ever President’s Club qualifiers at Senior Helpers, with 34 people. I wish all our qualifiers an amazing trip. You have worked very hard and deserve all the benefits of President’s Club in beautiful Panama.

Peter Ross, CEO & Co-Founder

Learning about the culture and customs of other people is one of the great experiences of travel. Panamanian culture is a hybrid of African, Native Panamanian, and European culture —specifically Spanish. For example, the tamborito is a Spanish dance that was blended with Native American rhythms and dance moves. Dance is a symbol of the diverse cultures that have coupled in Panama. The local folklore can be experienced through a multitude of festivals, dances, and traditions that have been handed down from generation to generation.

There is no doubt that the colossal Panama Canal that slices the country in two has done much to shape the modern history of Panama since its inception in 1914. Not only for Panama—this water highway has also served to change the history for the rest of the world throughout the twentieth century. With a width of just 50 miles, the shortest at any point in the Americas, plus a vast lake in between, Panana was ideal for the construction of a shipping canal.

4 PRESIDENT’S CLUB 2017 PANAMA

While people often think of Panama in terms of its namesake canal, hat, and capital city, this little country is more than industry and urban glamour: it has a wild side. From resplendent quetzals (one of almost 1,000 bird species recorded here) and neon frogs to a profusion of orchids and more than 1,500 types of tropical trees, Panama contains one of the greatest assortments of fauna and flora in the world.

Almost as Panamanian as that canal (the

hat is actually Ecuadorian in origin but

don’t tell anyone), sloths (`lazies’) live

solitary lives high up in the tree canopy

of the tropical rainforest, where they

feed on tough leaves. Sloths can be seen

throughout Panama, though they often

are curled up sleeping so high off the

ground that they are difficult to spot.

Panama hosts five of the world’s seven

species of sea turtles and you’ll spot them

along both coasts. Offshore waters host a

fascinating assortment of creatures. Reefs

found off both coasts support a plethora

of tropical fish, and visitors might spot

humpback whales, reef sharks, orcas, and

bottlenose dolphins.

ADVENTUREAWAITS!

Tucked deep in the mystical Soberania National Park at the meeting place of the Chagres River and the Panama Canal, Gamboa Rainforest has an abundance of colorful birds and butterflies. Here you might encounter sloths or white-faced capuchin monkeys, or hear the howler monkey cry out in the distance. You can even spot monkeys, toucans, alligators, and turtles.

The Emberá tribe originates from the Darien region in Panamá and the Choco region of Colombia. They have lived in this area for centuries, long before there were countries called Panama and Colombia and before the first Spanish explorer set foot in the new world. Visiting the Emberá Purú village in the Chagres National Park is like stepping back in time and offers a unique experience. For the people of the village, tourism is a way to earn an income for

basic staple food items and supplies. Tourism also instills a sense of pride among the Emberá people because they feel proud to meet people from all over the world who have come to learn about them and their culture.

Finally, Casco Viejo, or old quarter, is a wonderland for history buffs and a UNESCO protected district. The neighborhood’s rich and sordid history dates back centuries and a sharp eye can still find vestiges of every phase of growth on display. From the original colonial wall to beautiful art deco building facades to the excellent Canal Museum, experiencing everything this neighborhood has to offer can take days, even though its all packed neatly into only a few square blocks.

As you can see, Panama is just waiting to be explored!

VICKIE BEESON FRANCHISEE SINCE 2008 | TERRITORIES: 2

GREENFIELD, INDIANA

Vickie Beeson has lived in New Castle, Indiana her entire life and raised four children in the home she has resided in for 31 years. She is delighted that two of her children work with her in the business. Her professional life pri-or to purchasing her first Senior Helpers’ territory was in social service work. Her working experience coupled with her family experience, requiring home care assistance for over 10 years for her grandparents, led her to investigate the ownership of a non-medical home care franchise. The understanding and empathy of what brings people to her business and the knowledge in guiding them to outside resources has been her strength in this industry.

Vickie manages a qualified team and oversees the day-to-day operations with an emphasis on meeting directly with families and assuring them of accessi-bility to her at any time. Some of Vickie’s present and past volunteer activities have included leadership roles with Habitat for Humanity, United Way, AARP State Legislative Team and other philanthropic organizations. Today, most of her spare time is spent with three wonderful grandchildren. Family trips have included Disney World, and this past summer, a trip to Space Camp.

KARL & LISA CROSBY FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2005 | TERRITORIES: 1

LEES SUMMIT, MISSOURI

Lisa and Karl Crosby bought their franchise in October of 2005. They went to the same meeting as Rancho Cucamonga, California and they were the first two franchisees to sign on with Senior Help-ers. Lisa and Karl both had retail backgrounds, and both quit their jobs to start this business. They started in a very small office and received their training from Peter Ross. At that time, they were responsible for running their own Internet and network marketing. Karl has spoken to hundreds of interested franchisees about the business because in the beginning, they were the only point of reference. Their franchise has been successful, and they consider their lives blessed.

Lisa and Karl live in Lees Summit, MO. They have two daughters in town and one daughter in New Orleans. They also have one granddaughter, who they cherish greatly. Favorite ways to spend their time include bicycling, golfing, and traveling when they can.

JON PURDY & ADRIENNE REGARD FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2008 | TERRITORIES: 2

CAMPBELL, CALIFORNIA

Jon and Adrienne opened their doors at Senior Helpers in 2008, a week before the financial meltdown in the fall of 2008. With a lot of hard work and dedica-tion to their business, they survived. In 2010, they purchased a second territory, and slowly with the help and guidance of SH Corporate, they have managed to carve out a presence in the crowded San Jose home care market. They are happy to be going to Panama as part of the President’s Club and hope to en-joy some respite with other SH owners. One of the things Jon and Adrienne really appreciate is the cooperation of the owners in the system. The two are looking forward to a few days out of reach of the cellphone.

DAVE CANFIELD FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2008 | TERRITORIES: 5

HICKSVILLE, NEW YORK

Dave Canfield is the owner of five Senior Helpers territories in Central Long Island, New York, having opened his first territory in 2009. His professional background as a mechanical engineer and project manager, and subsequently as a business attorney and litigator, has been helpful to the management of his company.

However, there is no doubt that the success that Dave’s business has enjoyed is due primarily to the consistency of a strong staff. He has always been an advocate of establishing sound policies that are reasonable and repeatable for both client and office, and his staff’s strength is in the execution of those policies. He fully believes in the value of consistency and would much rather be good every single time for every single client, than to produce the periodic miracle for a last minute or unreasonable client or contact. As an example, in their eight years of operations, his team has only missed mailing out their bi-weekly Wednesday bills on time exactly once. Dave is proud of that office discipline and believes that it is the most important attribute in terms of running a successful business.

Dave has evolved from avoiding corporate sponsored functions at all costs, to now appreciating interaction with other franchisees.

DWIGHT & GAYLE DAVIS FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2014 | TERRITORIES: 2

STRATHAM, NEW HAMPSHIRE

Dwight and Gayle Davis, owners of Senior Helpers of the Greater Sea-coast, know the challenges and rewards of caring for a loved one be-cause they both provided care for their own aging parents. They un-derstand the value of what it means to age in place, at home. Senior Helpers of the Greater Seacoast is committed to the highest stan-dards in the industry, which is why the organization was recognized by Home Care Pulse® as the “Best of Home Care 2015, 2016, and 2017.” They are very proud of this honor and proud to be associated with a company that operates with such a high level of ethics, compassion, and professionalism.

Dwight is a native of Houston, Texas and moved to New Hampshire in 2004. He is a former professional basketball player, a first-round draft pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Dwight has spent many years as a re-altor and working with youth across the state. His focus on teamwork and being the best that you can be is a focal point as the office seeks to build the most comprehensive home care team on the Seacoast. In ad-dition to his responsibilities at Senior Helpers of the Greater Seacoast, Dwight serves as Vice Chairman of the NBRPA (National Basketball Re-tired Players Association), a member of New Hampshire Workforce In-vestment Board, and the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire Board of Directors. Dwight is a graduate of the University of Houston and is Senior Gems® and Veteran’s Program certified.

Gayle grew up on the New Hampshire Seacoast and attended the Uni-versity of New Hampshire. She worked in the high-tech field for more than 30 years and is known for mentoring and motivating employees to reach goals beyond their expectations. She is compassionate and caring, always willing to extend a hand to those in need. Gayle has been active with several charities/non-profits over the years, including the United Way Women’s Leadership Initiative, which raises funds for many programs in Strafford and Rockingham counties. Gayle’s father was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran, she is proud to serve Veterans and their families in his honor and to provide them with all the care and respect that they deserve. Gayle is Senior Gems® and Veteran’s Program certified, a certified facilitator of the Virtual Dementia Tour (VDT), and received her Master Trainer certification in A Matter of Balance, an evidence based fall prevention program. Gayle is also a member of the NAPW (National Association of Professional Women).

Dwight and Gayle teamed with the U.S. Department of Labor, the New Hampshire Office of Employment Security, ApprenticeshipUSA-NH and the Community College System of New Hampshire to develop and launch an Apprentice Home Health Aide Program. It is a 144-hour course which includes six months of class-room instruction and on-the-job training. The program will help to address the shortage of healthcare workers in the state. Each student will receive their Senior Gems® and Parkinson’s certification as part of the course.

STEPHEN FERRARI FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2010 | TERRITORIES: 4

FRANKLIN, TENNESEE

Stephen became a partner with Matt and Debbie Miller in 2010. Before coming to the Senior Help-ers family, he worked in the advertising world. Stephen worked for Donnelley/Verizon for over 20 years. His experience ranges from sales, sales management, training and divisional/multi-state management. Stephen was recognized for man-agement development, management training and won several awards including Presidents Award for top 5% of sales in the country.

Currently, Stephen’s team is operating out of five offices in the greater Nashville, Tennessee area. His offices have experienced tremendous growth over the past seven years. He credits his partners and team of employees with the ability and atti-tude needed to handle the pain that comes along with that growth. “This business is not for every-one. You must be in it for the right reasons. We have been blessed to hire and work alongside of some tremendous people. They understand this is more than a job. It’s a way of life.”

Stephen is also blessed with a beautiful family; wife Davi and daughters Alexa, Kayla and Ra-chel. Davi volunteers with the CASA organiza-tion as an advocate for underprivileged kids in the court system. Alexa has recently graduated from Veterinarian school and is looking forward to pursuing animal surgery as a specialty. Kayla graduated from University of Tennessee Chatta-nooga and is now working for Enterprise Rent-A-Car in their commercial truck division, and Rachel is at the University of North Florida and is working for the minor league hockey team in Jacksonville. The Ferrari ladies are known for their passion to rescue animals, and drawing Kardashian look-alike comparisons. Stephen is very proud of all of them.

JIM & ELIZABETH DIGIORGIO FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2009 | TERRITORIES: 1

WESTFORD, MASSACHUSETTES

Jim and Elizabeth opened their office in Westford, Massachusetts in July 2009 after experiencing the daunting task of finding professional, experienced and compassionate caregivers for their own parents. After more than 30 years in large corporate high-tech sales, product management and supply chain procurement, Jim felt the need to start and grow a service-oriented business that he could feel good about and one that benefited their local community.

As Elizabeth’s focus on raising the couple’s daughter and son concluded, the time seemed ideal to put her MBA to work in helping to run the business… with one important caveat: their German Shepherd, Bruschi would be welcomed in the of-fice. Elizabeth and Bruschi earned certification as a “Pet Therapy Team” and have become their office’s secret weapon – visiting clients and referral sources and pro-moting the proven physical and emotional benefit pets have on our everyday life.

The growth their office enjoyed in 2017 is the result of a tremendous office team and care staff, always treating their clients and employees as they expect to be treated. Equally important has been creating a culture of accountability by mon-itoring performance of the business via weekly KPIs.

In their free time, Jim enjoys downhill skiing as well as tinkering with and showing his antique cars. Elizabeth’s sport of choice is tennis and finds enjoyment from many outdoor activities.

“ [People must be in this business] for the right reasons...They need to understand this is more than a job. It’s a way of life”.

LISA & DENNIS FLEISCHER FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2011 | TERRITORIES: 2

MADISON, WISCONSIN

SCOTT & GLADIS FOX FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2008 | TERRITORIES: 1

RIVERVIEW, FLORIDA

Scott and Gladis Fox are very excited to be a part of this journey with Senior Helpers.

After being unhappy in the corporate world, the two moved from New Jersey to Florida to start a new venture. The Foxs each have over 15 years’ experience in healthcare and wanted to remain in the same field, but make a bigger difference. Through their personal ex-perience, they noticed there wasn’t a lot of support for families who needed additional care at home. After finding out about the Home Health Care industry and franchising, the two were able to research and learn more about how they could have their own business. Scott and Gladis were able create their own senior care business and re-main in the healthcare field by opening Senior Helpers in Riverview.

Although starting your own business is never easy, they have been excited to see all the milestones they have been able to accomplish and see all the lives they have changed. As of today, they have been married for 10 years, have two beautiful children, Sofia and Noah Fox, and have been a part of the Senior Helpers family for 10 years. During their time they have established great relationships with several families, rehab and assisted living facilities. Scott and Gladis believe one of the reasons they have be-come very well known in the industry, is due to the Senior Gems® program. They are very happy to continue to expand their services and are looking forward to an amazing 2018.

Dennis and Lisa have been working together for their entire married life (going on 22 years). Prior to Senior Helpers, they were mortgage brokers for 15 years. When that business was ending, they considered their options and came across Senior Helpers. They felt called to tackle this endeavor and purchased Senior Helpers-Madison, Wis-consin on 2/15/11. It has been an extremely rewarding experience, and they feel blessed to be able to help make a difference in their clients’ lives.

Now seven years later, their client base has grown, as well as their internal staff and caregivers. They are one of the leading home care companies in Madison and are al-ways striving to improve the training for caregivers and staff to stay ahead of the game and ensure exemplary care for their clients. Unemployment is at a crazy low of 2.2% in Madison, which makes caregivers very hard to come by, so growth is determined on recruiting and maintaining them.

Dennis and Lisa have a 12-year-old son, Noah, who is the light of their lives. Luckily, they have an incredibly capable staff, which they rely on heavily, so they can run Senior Help-ers and still have ample quality time with Noah and enjoy their lives.

DALE GARDNER FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2008 | TERRITORIES: 2

WINTER PARK, FLORIDA

Dale Gardner and his wife, Marian, bought two territories comprising the metro Orlan-do area in 2008 and signed their first client in October of that year. Gardner’s first career was as a journalist.

He has a master’s degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina and a bachelor’s degree in business and math from Wake Forest University. He served in var-ious editorial and publishing roles for newspapers and magazines in North Carolina, Ohio and Florida, including 10 years with Orlando-based Golfweek magazine. His inter-est in Senior Helpers grew out of poor experiences with three separate in-home care providers hired to help with Marian’s mother, who died in 2003. She lived with them for 12 years and needed care throughout the day for the last few years of her life.

Marian left her career as a teacher to help get the business started, but after four years, returned to the kindergarten classroom, where she is winding down that career. Dale is now working mostly from home, focusing on accounting and advertising. Advertising has been central to the growth of the Orlando business. Frustrated and ineffective with blueprint marketing, Gardner turned to media – bypassing referral sources and going directly to consumers. Now starting his 10th year, his office has more recently shifted somewhat to a stronger marketing effort and last year opened a second office for a stronger presence in the southwestern part of Orlando

Both Dale and Marian have ties to Latin America. Marian was born in Venezuela, her fa-ther’s native country; her parents met in Oklahoma State University, where her Musk-ogee-born mother was earning a master’s degree in political science. Dale’s roots are in North Carolina (Mayberry), but he was born in Costa Rica, one of six Latin American countries where his parents lived throughout a 33-year career with British American To-bacco Co.

Dale and Marian Gardner bought their Senior Helpers franchise in

May 2008, the same month their only child, Mary Jo, married her

sweetheart, Ben. Since then, as their business has grown, so has

their family, which now includes five grandchildren: Katie, 8;

Benjamin, 6; Joshua, 5; Josephine, 2; and Calvin, seven months.

JEFF TALEFF FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2009 | TERRITORIES: 3

NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1975, Jeff followed in his par-ents’ footsteps by attending college locally at the Uni-versity of Cincinnati. He graduated with a BBA in Market-ing & Real Estate in 1999. Immediately after graduation, Jeff relocated to sunny South Florida to begin a career in commercial real estate. After a couple years of get-ting his feet wet, Jeff began investing in South Florida real estate himself. In 2004, he switched focus away from brokerage to strictly investing in the booming land & real estate business in Florida. Described by a colleague as a “Tsunami” that would soon crash down to earth, the land business came to a swift end at the hands of the Great Recession. With a wife and young family to sup-port, Jeff decided to look for new business opportunities and settled on a health care related business in South Florida. After interviewing no less than five franchisors, Jeff and partner Ross Goodson, chose Senior Helpers. Their franchise started quickly in 2009, with sales dou-bling in each of their first three years in business. They now have three franchise territories with three physical locations and three satellite offices. They attribute the success of their business to strategic planning and win/win business development.

It is their belief that being a true partner to their com-munity and referral sources, and going out of their way to help whenever they can, is the best way to maintain their strong presence. Many of the tools they use to accomplish this have been introduced by Senior Help-ers franchising such as the Gems® program and Teepa Snow appearances. As they look to the future, they are continuing to actively look for strategic acquisitions to supplement their organic growth. In 2017, they brought on strategic equity partners Amar Patel & Patrick Davis to assist in the growth of the two Palm Beach County territories. Jeff lives in North Palm Beach, Florida with his wife Angelica and three daughters: Karis, Alessandra and Julianna.

25PRESIDENT’S CLUB 2017 PANAMA

Ross Goodson was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated with a degree in Communications in 2005 from Southwestern University. His professional background is in golf and business (in that order). He became involved in Senior Helpers, because he was tired of being a starving mini-tour player. With his prior experience and passion for helping others, he is a great compliment to his business partner Jeff Taleff. Together they have three successful territories and have rapidly grown their offices.

Ross’s responsibilities at Senior Helpers are to manage day-to-day financials and supervise operations. Ross lives in North Palm Beach. In his spare time, you can find him spending time with his wife Renee, and sons Reece (6) and Rylan (3). His favorite hobbies: golf and long walks on the beach. He is look-ing forward to taking a well-earned break and relaxing alongside the other owners in Panama.

SUSAN GRANT & BRUCE INGRAHAM FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2008 | TERRITORIES: 1

BERKELEY, CA

Susan Grant was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. Although she grad-uated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, she found, after a few years of using the degree on a job, that she preferred working with people, not radio-active substances. For almost twenty years, she was a principal in an executive search firm in San Francisco.

Bruce Ingraham was born and raised in Yarmouth, Maine. His earliest post-sec-ondary education was in Culinary Arts at Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. He couldn’t stand the heat, so he got out of the kitchen and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from UC Berkeley, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Saint Mary’s College of California. Bruce worked for many years in information technology, data sci-ence, and higher education.

In 2007, with Bruce’s mother in Maine turning 90, the two started their Senior Helpers journey. While researching in-home service for Bruce’s mother, Bruce and wife Susan, realized that many families are looking for help to enable their loved ones to age in place where they want. Wanting to be sure they did a good job, they looked for a franchisor to join. Senior Helpers’ founders, with their perspectives on how to work with clients and with franchisees, were the most attractive. Thus on St. Patrick’s Day in 2008, the Berkeley office was established. An interesting aspect of the Berkeley territory is that they have several UC Berkeley professors and deans as clients, as well as entrepreneurs, artists, musicians, and museum curators who were drawn to the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area to live and work. Susan and Bruce have clients who have

been with them since almost the very beginning, a fact they can be proud of.

As President, Susan is ultimately responsible for how their of-fice flourishes. She very much enjoys meeting prospects and converting them to clients, and for ensuring that they are cared for and cherished. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, exer-cising, and traveling, while Bruce’s biggest hobby is cooking. They have earned several President’s Club awards, and joined the Two Million Dollar club in 2014. The two are looking forward to their 10th anniversary with Senior Helpers in March!

RAND & SHERRY HEWITT FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2010 | TERRITORIES: 1

RICHMOND, MICHIGAN

Rand Hewitt was born into a family of five boys and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated with a high school diploma in 1972 and went to work for Chrysler for 35 years. He worked his way up from a broom sweep-er to overseeing operations and managing over 150 employees. Rand’s wife Sherry was raised on a farm, and uses her compassion and background in private duty care, as a CNA, and administrative experience at Chrys-ler to contribute to their Senior Helpers office. She is amazing at one-on-one interactions with the clients and loves listening to their stories.

Rand’s brother and their co-owner Brian had been with Chrysler over 25 years. Back in 2009, when Chrysler and GM closed a lot of dealerships, Rand, Sherry, Brian and three other relatives found themselves out of a job. Not ready to retire yet and not sure where life was going to lead, Rand knew they wanted to open and run a family business. As the Hewitts’ had experience caring for their aging parents, when they heard about Senior Helpers, they knew this was their opportunity!

A unique territory that is a very small town means a lot of their clients and caregivers come to them via word of mouth. Rand says they owe their success to keeping the business personal and connecting with the com-munity by sponsoring concerts in the park, being involved in the Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce and Sherry’s volunteer work. Sherry donates her time by cooking for and feeding the homeless.

Their ability to be embedded in and as a cornerstone of their small town means that after opening the doors in 2010, their business grew and grew, becoming more successful each year. It truly is a family business with clients and caregivers becoming part of their family over the past eight years. Rand and Sherry feel blessed to run a Christian-based business that can provide care to the community. Two very important members of the Hewitt family are their rescue dogs, Daisy and Lexie; Rand describes them as his well-loved, spoiled brats.

MICHAEL & LEANN MOHL FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2008 | TERRITORIES: 2

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA

Gayle and Glen Lindroth were both born in Queens, New York. Both lived in Glen Oaks, New York and moved to Smithtown, New York with their three children in 1992.

Glen was a Boy Scout troop leader and little league coach for 10 years. Gayle was a business owner and mom. Both cared for their family, including grandparents. In doing so, they saw the need for reliable and compassionate homecare. After a lot of research and keeping with their beliefs that the business they were going to enter must have value to family and community, they met with Senior Helpers in Baltimore, Maryland. Their Senior Helpers office opened in Smithtown, New York in April 2008. Glen meets with every family, and Gayle, along with the office staff, strive to provide quality care.

Their Senior Helpers office has rapidly grown and is well known in the community. You can often find Glen at a prospective client’s house just to talk to them for two to three hours.

In their spare time, Gayle and Glen have five grandchildren who keep them very busy. Glen will some-times take them to visit a client. They have one dog and two cats.

The Mohls have owned and operated Senior Helpers of South Palm Beach since May 2008. MERRITT MULMAN FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2008 | TERRITORIES: 5

DANVERS AND RAYNHAM, MASSACHUSETTS

MARK & TIFFANY MURPHY FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2014 | TERRITORIES: 1

SPOKANE, WASHINGTON

After ten years owning Senior Helpers in Danvers, Massachu-setts, his business is now mature enough where Merritt can work ON the business instead of IN the business on a day-to-day basis. The latitude of having excellent professionals around him (hiring excellent staff helps tremendously), affords Merritt the ability to focus on the strategic direction of the company. With steady and significant growth over the past four years, Merritt’s business has truly changed from where it was even just a few short years ago. With a strategy of diversi-fication, Merritt’s business still actively works in private duty – business to client (B2C), but Merritt has also added significant business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) contracts that round out his offerings, and that is when he real-ly saw a major transformation in his business. It really took off!

Having recently moved from the suburbs into one of Boston’s most beautiful neighborhoods, Merritt and his amazing wife Lisa are enjoying the “empty nest.” They also are closing on and renovating a Vermont home, which will serve as Senior Help-ers most northern office- at least a few days per week. Merritt and Lisa both received their bachelor’s degrees from Harvard University. Merritt went on for a masters from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (GO HEELS!). His wife, Lisa, a Pro-fessor of English Literature at Salem State University, got her Ph.D. from DUKE (DUKE SUX!). Their son, Miles, recently left SH Franchising to join his father in business. Their daughter, Jess, is a senior at Lesley University. Oh, and they have a puppy, Satch-el, who is quickly becoming Lisa’s favorite Mulman.

In 2006, Senior Helpers began serving the senior population in Spokane, Washington and Northern Ida-ho. Mark and Tiffany Murphy acquired the franchise on February 10, 2014. After raising their three chil-dren, Tiffany wanted to return to the workforce where her passion for the elderly encouraged them to pursue a new opportunity with Senior Helpers.

Tiffany was born in the Philippines and moved to Hawaii with her family as a very young child. She re-ceived a Nursing degree at Seattle University where she met Mark. They eventually moved to Spokane and raised their family. Tiffany has been a registered nurse for 30 years and developed a love for the el-derly while caring for oncology patients. She received her oncology certified nurse credential and worked as an oncology nurse clinician at a local home health agency. She is an Alzheimer’s Association speaker and involved in elder care community organizations. Her home health experience, along with her passion for the elderly, has been a natural fit in acquiring a leading in-home care agency. It has allowed her, as the agency director focusing on client services, to make a difference in the lives of her aging clients, ensuring that their needs and goals are met with compassion, respect, and professionalism.

Mark was born and raised in Spokane. He has an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and a MBA. As a past executive for his family’s construction business and a volunteer for many boards and organiza-tions, his business and community background has been a positive asset for the business. Mark owns a development business and is currently engaged in a construction technology start-up. He works with Tif-fany a few hours a week on financial management and strategic planning. Together, with Mark’s business leadership and Tiffany’s nursing expertise, they have grown to become a trusted, professional in-home care agency with qualified, compassionate caregivers.

In their spare time, Mark and Tiffany enjoy skiing, visiting their children, and rooting for their favorite teams, the Gonzaga Bulldogs and Seattle Seahawks.

JIM & MELANIE REYNOLDS FRANCHISEE SINCE: 2008 | TERRITORIES: 1

SALEM, OREGON

Melanie was born in Long Beach, California and grew up in Salem, Oregon on their small family farm. Jim, a native Oregonian and a true mountain boy, grew up in a small logging town nestled deep in the mountains of the Cascade Mountain Range. Both always loved outdoor activities and Melanie immersed herself in sports and academics, which led to a full scholarship to the private university of her choice. She chose Brigham Young University, after which she worked in medicine for ten years. She then returned to school at Oregon Health Sciences University, where she earned a bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene. She worked as a Dental Hygienist for the next 22 years.

Jim completed a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, then went on to get married, start a family and college. Although he graduated from the University of Oregon in Music Education, he never worked a day in the education field. He managed companies for many years, then stepped into government, where he worked his way into executive leadership. After in-vesting fourteen years in government compliance, (thirteen years too long), and at the age of 55, he was ready for a new adventure.

As much of their lives were spent in service, a profound passion for them, they began exploring ser-vice-related business ideas. After deciding against an eco- bicycle touring company and an extensive search in the service industry, they discovered the Senior Helpers franchise.

Combining their love of service, Melanie’s medical career history and Jim’s business career history, the purchase of the Salem, Oregon territory seemed to be a natural fit. Together, and with a lot of hard work, their little territory began thriving. They were fortunate to earn Rookie of the Year and Million Dollar Club awards in their second year with Senior Helpers.

An important goal within Melanie’s and Jim’s business plan when starting Senior Helpers included the ability to work less in the daily routine and still generate income. This goal is becoming realized. Although Jim is involved in the business daily, he physically is in the office a couple days a week. To that end, Jim says “Thank you, Senior Helpers!” Melanie retired from the daily routine of the busi-ness, although she remains directly involved in strategic leadership. She is currently busy being active in her community, her church, and loves showering attention on their eighteen grandchildren.

MIAMI, FLORIDA

Yolanda Schon was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Yolanda was an architect when she was in Caracas and a purchasing manager for a construction company after moving to the United States.

Her desire to get involved in Senior Helpers stemmed from some-thing that hit very close to home. Yolanda’s mother is 95 years old. Fortunately, she has been relatively healthy her whole life, but Yolanda sees that her mother now has a diminished capacity to perform daily activities on her own. Leaving her mother at home for long stretches of time left Yolanda feeling uneasy and worried. She thought that there had to be something she could turn to, or someone she could trust to help relieve the stress of balancing her mother’s growing needs with an already hectic schedule. Her in-quiries led her straight to Senior Helpers. In essence, Yolonda, says she is the ideal recipient of the services she offers.

Yolanda lives in Miami close to her only son and his family. They are the loves of her life. In 2015, her son came to work at her office as Director of Operations, which has helped the office move to the next level. Together, with their Director of Nursing and Caregiver Manager, they are looking forward to a successful 2018.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MICHIGAN

Barbara Roden opened her first Senior Helpers territory in 2007 in Southeast Michigan. She has since opened new offices in Auburn Hills, Grand Rapids, and Lansing, Michigan. She now has a total of six territories in four locations.

An active member of her community, Barbara serves on the Alzheimer’s Association Board of Directors and is frequently requested to speak on senior housing, options for aging loved ones and Alzheimer’s related topics. She is a member of the Michigan Home Health Association, past President of the Junior League Sustainers of Ann Arbor, and is a past official of the Senior Helpers’ Owners Council. She was the recipient of the International Franchisee of the Year Award in 2011. Barbara will be part of a film being released in 2018 on PBS called “Those on the Front Lines of Alzheimer’s and Dementia”.

Barbara earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Marketing from Purdue University.

For twenty years prior to her work in senior care, Barbara held various sales and man-agement positions in both retail and corporate automotive environments. She started working retail while in high school at a jewelry store and went on to further her skills in the automotive industry working for both General Motors and Ford Motor Company.

These positions prepared her for being in business for herself. In 2007, she decided to ful-fill her dream of owning her own business. Senior Helpers blends her passion for helping seniors with her prior business expertise. Both Barbara’s father and Great Aunt suffered with Alzheimer’s. So, choosing the caregiving industry was a natural choice for her. She knows the stress and burden, both emotionally and financially, that caring for a loved one can put on a family. She loves helping seniors, is passionate about her business, and is trusted by her clients and their families. Barbara also supports numerous events and sem-inars throughout the community.

Leaving her job as nursing faculty at Oklahoma State University-OKC, Sha-ron joined John and Laurie, and they opened their Senior Helpers branch in February 2016.

The driving force behind Sharon’s love of the elderly was a huge family of aunts, uncles and grandparents. After watch-ing her mother and aunts take care of her maternal grand-mother, who had Alzheimer’s, for over 12 years, she knew how hard the journey was for families. In addition, Sharon and her family cared for her paternal grandmother while she was on hospice. Just a few days into 24/7 care, their exhaustion made it harder and harder to care for her needs. Most recently, Sharon has assumed the role of advocate for her mother-in-law. These family issues gave Sharon a first-hand experience of the lack of help for families seeking in-home care for their loved ones.

Sharon has been married to Ward, a pilot for American Air-lines, for 31 years. They have two adult children who proudly serve as the sixth consecutive generation in the military. A Georgia transplant, she has been “adjusting” to the weath-er in Oklahoma for the past 27 years. In her spare time, Sha-ron is an avid reader, loves traveling, any rodeo sport, and things that make her “go”, such as snowmobiles and boats. Her enthusiasm with crafts warrants adult supervision, as she tends to run with scissors.

As the President and Chief Nursing Officer of Senior Help-ers Greater OKC North, Sharon is proud to be a member of the Senior Helpers’ family.

Additionally, he is an adjunct Professor of Law at Oklahoma City University, as well as involved in other ventures. He plays golf with a low handicap in his not-so-spare time. John, Laurie and business partner Sharon have all managed multiple family health issues which have given them first-hand knowledge as to just how difficult caring for an elderly family member can be, particularly those with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Most recently, Sharon assumed the role of advocate for her mother-in-law. Each have personal experience with the lack of help for families seeking in-home care for their loved ones. John, Laurie and Sharon chose to start Senior Helpers in Oklahoma City because of its national reputation and expertise. They add their own local and compassionate touch and are proud to be a part of the Senior Helpers family.
