Wesleyan Village is a Christian communi-
ty for senior adults where residents can
live in a safe, clean, wholesome and at-
tractive environment that contributes to
their spiritual, physical, emotional, and
relational wellbeing
We are in the “dog days” of our Florida summer, hot, humid and frequent rain showers. Overall it’s good especially when I see the temperatures in the Northern states and Canada. It’s hot up north and not a “dry” hot. On behalf of the Wesley-an Village staff we send our greetings to our winter residents and greetings to our year round residents, we look forward to seeing you in the village, at Walmart, Lowes, the drug store or at a local eatery. You are all greatly appreciated. There are a few items which I need to share with you as members/residents of the Wesleyan Village. 1. In May of 2020 our Waste Water Treatment Facility (WWTF) will be up for a
five-year recertification by the Florida Department of Environmental Protec-tion (FDEP). We have already been working with our Plant Manager, Bryon Covell, and Dale Ravencraft of PROCIVIL360 engineering. We have a meet-ing in late July with the FDEP to seek information on new regulations which may impact our application. If we are required to make major modifications to our plant this will require additional capital (Dollars) to make those modifica-tions. We will have more details in a few months. This issue is very important and all Wesleyan Village members need to be given a heads-up.
2. As many of you may know Carol Weller will be retiring at the end of July 2018. Thank you Carol for your 14+ years of service to the Wesleyan Village. You have been a dedicated, loyal, and highly gifted employee. You interacted so well with so many of our residents. You will be greatly missed in the of-fice. May God bless and keep you.
3. Congratulations to Sharon Dickinson who will be assuming Carols’ position as the Assistant to the Treasurer. At this time the position which Sharon was filling will not be staffed.
4. The vast majority of our pot-holes were fixed last month. We still have a few bumps but not as many as before, our streets are much improved.
5. Special thanks to some great volunteers who have blessed the village with their talents and leadership roles. These individuals will be stepping down from their volunteer positions. Thank you Lucille Fletcher for your excellent leadership with the swimming pool exercises. Carol Hartsell has served the Wesleyan Village as our librarian, thank you Carol for your service. Rev. Wayne Spangler has been a great leader for the Men’s Bible Fellowship, thank you Wayne for your many years of service.
6. I’m thankful the Wesleyan Village swimming pool has been operating without major issues during the summer month, for this we are most grateful and thankful. Our swimming pool contractor and our staff identified and corrected a malfunction which should make a big difference in the pool operations.
This is the time of the year we miss our winter residents. May all of our members/residents have a great summer. Blessings on you and your families. May we up-hold each other in prayer and may we live out the precepts of the Lord’s prayer. “Our Father in heaven, hollowed by your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one”. Matthew 6 10-13

Did you know . . . Did you know that way back in 1996 a new couple moved into Wesleyan Village, bought a mobile home at 22425 Victory Drive, and became “Life Members” in the village? Some people recognized them because, prior to becoming year-round residents, they had assisted Naomi Glassburn in the kitchen during Camp Meeting and Bible Conference. They came from North Hampton, Ohio (Springfield area) where they served as pastors of the Meadow Grove Wesleyan Church. In the fall of 2003 they purchased a new home at 22371 Paul Drive, where they remain to this day. Do you think you know who they are? In February 2004 the wife became a new staff member and joined the Wesleyan Village office force where she faithfully continued working until just a few weeks ago. Did you guess it correctly? Yes, it’s Glen and Carol Weller. Before they moved to Brooksville, Carol had been employed at Indiana Wesleyan Uni-
versity (Marion College) in the business office while Glen pastored the Mt. Olive Wesleyan Church in Indiana. Over their years of various pastorates in Indiana, Carol’s employment included: Bookkeeper at a large Co-op/Feed mill, Sales, Payroll Department at Essex factory, and working in a doctor’s office. All of these jobs involved num-bers! After moving to Springfield, Ohio, she was employed by a Radiological Billing Service and became a supervi-sor, remaining there for fifteen years. Glen pastored the Meadow Grove Wesleyan Church for several years and, af-ter resigning, bought a large Christian Bookstore in Springfield, Ohio. Of course, Carol handled the financial aspect of this business, too. Carol and Glen finished out their years of ministry as interim pastor in North Hampton, Ohio. While pastoring in Sheridan, Indiana, there was a local beauty shop that treated all minister’s wives to one free “up-do” a week. For five years, Carol sat and observed all the procedures the beauticians provided. She soon began shar-ing her knowledge with her friends. Often at camp meeting in Fairmont, Indiana, she could be found in their cottage giving permanents and “up-dos!” After becoming year-round residents of Wesleyan Village, it did not take long be-fore word got out that Carol gave permanents and styled hair. This provided a convenience for many of the residents as she made this service available to many ladies within the village. Carol served faithfully as Assistant Treasurer of Wesleyan Village during the administrative leadership of Dr. Marlin Mull, Dr. Charles Paine, Dr. Kenneth Heer, and Dr. Donald Maness. Wesleyan Village Treasurers dur-ing Carol’s years of service were Donald Mack, Keith Allion, and Gloria Berridge. She and Glen were “permanent fixtures” in the dining hall, sell-ing and collecting lunch tickets. For several years Glen gave leadership to the Men’s Fellowship Group here in the village, meeting on Saturdays. He also demonstrated skills as a musician, singing to the Glory of God. You could always find the Wellers traveling with the “Lunch Bunch” group dur-ing the summer months, as well as attending many other off-site activities. Carol has been a wonderful resource to our office staff. If one needed to identify someone within the village and where they lived, Carol was the one to ask. “She knew everybody!” The Wellers have three children: Rodney (Indiana), Ronald (Indiana), and Patty (Weller) Strand (Nebraska). They are blessed with eleven grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Carol retired as of July 31, 2018. We all wish Carol and Glen a future filled with God’s blessings. Special recog-nition is planned for the Wellers during the President’s Coffee on September 20th at 6:00 pm in the Dining Hall.
SHARON DICKINSON has been employed as the Assistant to the Treasurer. Sha-ron has been working in the office along side Carol Weller, learning the task of this position. Sharon began working in the office in December 2016. She has been a resident of the village since 2010 having arrived from Michigan. Prior to retirement Sharon was employed as Assis-tant Supervisor of a TV station (Channels 9 and 10) in Cadillac, Michigan, retiring after eight-een and one half years. Sharon has three children, Sheila Houseman, David, Jr and Lisa Ruppert. She is a loving grandmother of nine Grandchildren and eleven Great Grandchildren. Sharon resides on Woodlawn Ave. . Welcome Sharon to the team serving Wesleyan Village!
