Our cultural and natural heritage are both irreplaceable sources of life and inspiration.
CULTURAL HERITAGE
•Monuments: architectural works, works of monumental
sculpture and painting, elements or structures of an
archaeological nature, inscriptions, cave dwellings and
combinations of features;
•Groups of buildings: groups of separate or connected
buildings which, because of their architecture, their
homogeneity or their place in the landscape;
• Sites: works of man or the combined works of nature and
man, and areas including archaeological sites.
•which are of outstanding universal value
OUTSTANDING UNIVERSAL VALUE (OUV)
•From the point of view of:
•History
•Art
•Science
•Aesthetic
•Ethnological
•Anthropological
Cultural and/or natural significance
so exceptional as to transcend national boundaries
and to be of common importance for present and future
generations of all humanity.
As such, the permanent protection of this heritage is of the
highest importance to the international community as a
whole.
CULTURAL AND NATURAL HERITAGE
•are increasingly threatened with destruction by the traditional causes of decay, but also by changing social and economic conditions which aggravate the situation with even more formidable phenomena of damage or destruction, and now by climate change impacts

RESEARCHING IN CULTURAL HERITAGE AND CLIMATE CHANGE NEED
•Priority setting for a management response:
•Understanding the vulnerability of materials to climate variables (for example, particularly too much or little moisture effects).
•Understanding how traditional materials and practices need to adapt to extreme weather events.
•Development of fail-safe methods and technologies for monitoring the impact at properties.
•Understanding causing changes in society i.e. movement of peoples, displacement of communities, their practices, livelihoods, and their relation with their heritage.
