Inapplicationswherewoodmaybeexposedtomoisture,insectsorfungalorganisms,preservative-treatedwoodcanhelpensureabuilding’sdurability.Inthispresentation,participantswilllearnaboutthemanufacturingprocessforpressure-treatedwood,availableproductsandtheirdifferences,andhowpreservedwoodisusedinconstruction.Topicswillincludetypesofpreservativetreatmentsandtherequiredlevelsofretention,asdictatedbytheend-useapplication,desiredservicelifeandexposureconditions.AWPAUseCategorystandardsandICC-ESReportEvaluationswillbereviewed,andcurrentissuesconcerningtreatedwoodinnon-residentialandmulti-familyconstructionbediscussed.
