Lauragraduated with honors from NewYork University’sGallatin School of Individualized Study.

ARTHUR LAURENTS (Book, Director).His first play, Home of the Brave, opened onBroadway in 1945, followed by many others.His newest plays are A Key Change and ComeBack, Come Back, Wherever You Are, starringShirley Knight and Alison Fraser. These cameright on the heels of his New Year’s Eve star-ring Marlo Thomas and Keith Carradine at hisfavorite theatre, the George Street Playhousein New Brunswick. He wrote his first musical,West Side Story, in 1957, followed by Gypsyand others. His first screenplay was The SnakePit in 1948, followed by others includingRope, Anastasia, The Way We Were and TheTurning Point. His own play, Invitation to aMarch in 1960, was the first of several hedirected. I Can Get It for You Wholesale in1961 was the first musical he directed, fol-lowed by others including La Cage aux Follesand Gypsy with Angela Lansbury, then TyneDaly and most recently, Patti LuPone. In2000, he wrote a memoir, Original Story By.His latest book, Mainly on Directing: WestSide Story, Gypsy, and Other Musicals, waspublished in March 2009. His posthumousmemoir The Rest of the Story is currentlyslated for publication in 2012.

LEONARD BERNSTEIN (Music)(1918–1990). Composer, conductor, author,teacher and recording artist, Bernstein trans-formed the way Americans and people every-where hear and appreciate music. A few of hismany compositions include the symphoniesJeremiah and The Age of Anxiety, the theatrepiece Mass, Chichester Psalms, Divertimento,the film score for On the Waterfront, the balletsFancy Free and Facsimile and the operas Troublein Tahiti and A Quiet Place. He was music direc-tor of the New York Philharmonic from 1958 to1969 and, over his lifetime, conducted many ofthe major orchestras of the world. His Broadwaymusicals include Wonderful Town, Candide,

Side by Side by Sondheim, Marry Mea Little, You’re Gonna Love Tomorrow, PuttingIt Together and Sondheim on Sondheim areanthologies of his work as composer and lyri-cist. For films, he composed the score ofStavisky, background music for Reds andsongs for Dick Tracy and the television pro-duction “Evening Primrose.” He co-authoredthe film The Last of Sheila and the playGetting Away With Murder. JEROME ROBBINS (Choreography) isworld renowned for his work as a choreogra-pher of ballets as well as his work as a direc-tor and choreographer in theatre, movies andtelevision. His Broadway shows include Onthe Town, Billion Dollar Baby, High ButtonShoes, West Side Story, The King and I,Gypsy, Peter Pan, Miss Liberty, Call MeMadam and Fiddler on the Roof. His lastBroadway production in 1989, JeromeRobbins’ Broadway, won six Tony Awardsincluding Best Musical and Best Director.Among the more than 60 ballets he createdare Fancy Free; Afternoon of a Faun; TheConcert; Dances at a Gathering; In the Night;In G Major; Other Dances; Glass Pieces; andIves, Songs, which are in the repertories ofNew York City Ballet and other major dancecompanies throughout the world. His last bal-lets include A Suite of Dances created forMikhail Baryshnikov (1994), 2 & 3 PartInventions (1994), West Side Story Suite(1995) and Brandenburg (1996). In additionto two Academy Awards for the film West SideStory, Mr. Robbins received four TonyAwards, five Donaldson Awards, two EmmyAwards, the Screen Directors Guild Award

and the New York Drama Critics CircleAward. He was a 1981 Kennedy CenterHonors recipient and was awarded the FrenchChevalier dans l’Ordre National de la Legiond’Honneur. Mr. Robbins died in 1998.

DAVID SAINT (Director) is the artistic director of The George Street Playhouse inNew Brunswick, New Jersey, where in thepast 14 years he has directed more than 25mainstage productions, including seven pre-mieres by Arthur Laurents, most recently NewYear’s Eve starring Marlo Thomas and KeithCarradine. Notable productions under histenure include the Richard Rodgers Award-winning The Spitfire Grill, Outer CriticsCircle Award-winning The Toxic Avenger,Anne Meara’s Down the Garden Paths withEli Wallach, Creating Claire by Tony winnerJoe DiPietro and the Next Stage Festivalwhere shows like Proof originated. JOEY MCKNEELY (ReproductionChoreographer) first was introduced to WestSide Story by Mr. Robbins himself when hedanced in Jerome Robbins’ Broadway. He hasdirected and choreographed West Side Storythroughout the world, including La Salla Operain Milan, the Chatelet in Paris and the Sadler’sWells Theatre in London (Olivier nom., bestmusical revival). On Broadway, Joey’s choreo-graphic debut was Smokey Joe’s Cafe, followedby The Life, Twelfth Night at Lincoln Center,The Wild Party, The Boy From Oz starring HughJackman and the recent revival of West SideStory. Since beginning as an apprenticewith The Kenley Players in the late 60s, he hashad the privilege of working closely withvisionaries such as Twyla Tharp, SusanStroman, Hal Prince, Joe Layton and JoshLogan, plus hundreds of stars. DONALD KINDL (Chief Financial Officer)graduated from the University of Connecticutwith a Bachelor of Science degree inAccounting in 1982 and again in 1988 with hisMasters in Business Administration. He beganhis career with Combustion Engineering inWindsor, CT in 1982, and moved to Marylandin 1992 to assume the position of Comptrollerfor various theatrical productions. In hiscurrent position he oversees the dailyoperations of all aspects of finance andmanagement information systems. Mr. Kindland his lovely wife, Cindy, are the proudparents of three wonderful children: Stephen,Stacey and Scott.
