BLUE VS BLUE

This will be a Swiss System tournament with a random first round draw. Whilst every effort will be made to 'fudge' the draw to keep the matches Allies vs. Axis players should expect

that some Blue vs. Blue encounters are unavoidable.

TOURNAMENT SCORING

Tournament scoring will be according to the Victory Point rules as on page 275 of the rulebook. Three games (1), painting score (2) and returning their voting slip (3) gives each player a maximum possible score of 30 points. The tournament winner will be the player with the highest total score at the end of the day.

(1) Game Results:

A total of 18 points are available, up to 6 from each game, as detailed on page 275 of the rulebook. If you concede at any point, you will receive 0 points from the game, your opponent will receive 6 points. We appreciate that it’s difficult when you’re taking a real beating but conceding to your opponent only shortens the game playing time for you both and results in the winning player receiving more points than they may have normally got. This can dramatically affect the overall standings for the tournament. Please fight on, claim the moral victory and make your opponent earn each victory point.

(2) Army painting

A total of 6 points are available and are awarded by the tournament organisers. This score will be an all or nothing score in the sense that a fully painted army will score 6 and an army with any unpainted models will receive zero. The criteria for qualifying as a fully painted army are 3 colours and based. Please be aware that by painted we mean that it should at some point have involved the use of a paintbrush; armies painted solely with spray paint or undercoated and dipped will not receive the 6 points for a painted army. We have decided not to go down the route of banning unpainted models in the way that some tournaments have, but if you want the 6 points for painting please insure the whole army looks painted and based.

(3) Best army vote

To ensure that the winner of best army is the unanimous decision of all players, we have decided to provide an incentive for all players to complete the best army voting slip by giving 6 points to every player who returns their slip.

After game 1 is completed, please place your entire army on display on the table. Place the tear off slip with your name on it next to your army so that people know who to vote for. You might also want to add some detail about what you’d like others to know about the army. Best army will be decided upon by a vote from all the other players, so over lunchtime you’ll have a good chance to cast your eye over everyone’s armies.

Just try not to spill anything on them.

Army voting slips will be provided on the day. One is used to cast your vote; the other is to let everyone know which army is yours. Once you’ve decided whom to vote for, just put your voting slip in the container at the judge’s table.

REMEMBER TO CAST YOUR VOTE,

IT'S WORTH 6 points (The easiest points you’ll get all day)

SPORTSMANSHIP

As we have done at all of our events, we won’t be asking players to award each other any sportsmanship points as we are presuming that we can all play our games fairly and in the spirit of enjoyment for both ourselves and our opponents without the need for additional motivation.

If any situation should arise that can’t be resolved by the players themselves, then the tournament organisers will generally be taking a “roll for it” attitude to disagreements, unless one player is clearly right in the eyes of the judges with the other player “trying his luck”.

In the unlikely event that a player is being obstructive or unreasonable and is affecting the enjoyment of other players taking part in the tournament, then judges may deduct points from that players score using their own judgment. Any decision will be final.

We certainly don’t anticipate any situation needing such serious action as we hope that all participants will be taking part in the same friendly yet competitive manner as previous events.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING ON THE DAY

• Your 1750-point Flames of War Army (hard to play without it)

• Your army book including any amendments if applicable from the errata published by Battlefront

• The most up to date version of each army book will be used.

• The 3rd Edition of the Flames of War Rulebook. Our judges will have a copy of the

rulebook for use in settling any rules disputes but to keep things moving it’ll be helpful if players bring their own copy for reference rather than relying on the judges.

• A copy of the 3 September 2015 version of the Lessons from the Front pdf.

• Measuring tape, dice, templates, calculator, pencils and any markers that you’ll

need to play.

• A tray; cat litter tray works well or Really Useful Boxes are also popular now. This is ideal for transporting your army between games, saving you time packing and unpacking carrying cases.

• 2 clearly written or typed copies your army list (1 copy for you and 1 for the judges)

PLEASE ENSURE YOUR NAME IS CLEARLY MARKED ON YOUR LIST. A PENALTY

OF 2 TOURNAMENT POINTS WILL BE IN PLACE FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT, FAILURE TO SUBMIT A VALID LIST WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.

ARMY SELECTION

We’ve decided not to exclude anyone from taking part in this tournament. Consequently you should use any current Late War book (either hardcopy or via the Forces of War app) or any Late War Official Briefing when selecting your army. Briefings PDFs under review and now included in books or the apps may not be used. Forces of War exclusive lists

may be used.

If you have any concerns about whether your choose book or Briefing is allowed please contact the Tournament Organiser at [email protected]

ARMY LIST SUBMISSION

A typed and named army lists must be submitted to the judges during the registration

period at the start of the tournament.

Failure to submit one will result in disqualification and failing to put your name on it will result in a penalty of 2 points.

FAQ

Q: On the scoring sheet it asks for “platoons lost”, what do I write there? A: In order to separate players on the same number of Victory Points in the Swiss System we will use the number of platoons lost as the second qualifier. Consequently you must record the number of platoons you lose in each game on the score sheet as per page 275 of the rulebook. Armies with more than 9 platoons can subtract 1 from the number of platoons they have lost to a minimum of zero. Q: Can I use Naval Gunfire Support? A: Naval Gunfire Support may be used, as per the 3 September 2015 Lessons from the Front PDF. Q: What about Patton and similar who add or subtract Victory Points? A: If a rule changes the Victory Point scored, such as Patton’s The Greatest Soldier, then the rule will be played as written at this event and will change the Victory Points scored.

Q: Is Snapshot Army: Kampfgruppe Kerscher a legal list? A: In the interests of letting as many people as possible attend Kampfgruppe Kerscher will be allowed. However you should bring copies of your army list, which details all of the special rules and give a copy to each of your opponents before every round.
