What the audience thought of our concept for the music video

The artist that we have chosen is "Ambush Creep", for the song "Sidewalk". A brief summary of the

narrative is a guy who sees a girl in the streets and falls in love with her; love at first sight. In the video we

will see the actor following the girl around and trying to get the girls attention. (Paste the link in the URL

to listen to the song, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EChff4SU2cI) How well do you think the concept

is ideal for the song and music video? If you don't think the concept is suitable , please state what youthink would be a better narrative or how it could be improved?

    Question 1.

The results show that everyone that

filled out the survey found our

    concept Good.

This question shows me that the

audience like music videos which are

    different from their typical R&B

videos, and it also has a comedy

sense to it connoting that the

    audience like to be entertained,

taking them away from reality, for

    example educational exams or jobs

    and family.

The audience want to be entertained from the

music videos they watch which might make them

realise theres more to life than for example

teenagers stressing over exams, connoting that

the demographic may be of young teenagers in

    education or part time employment.

This will influence our production by

producing a music video that is very comical

but at the same time has a clear storyline,

    which will attract audiences.

What cotumes do you think is ideal for the actor to wear

    Question 2.

The music video will cast 3 male actors. After listening to the song, in your opinion

what costume do you think will be ideal for the actors to wear in the music video?

The results from this question shows thatmy audience are maybe of a working class

as the clothes Chinos, t-shirts and

snapbacks are clothing which is not too

extravagant but which most audiences can

afford at a suitable price range. The choice

Very Funky Costumes also connotes that

maybe some of the demographic are veryoutgoing in what they wear and like to

enjoy themselves; not take everything to

    seriously.

This also shows that the audiences socio

economic grading maybe ranging from B to C,

as for example snapbacks are sometimes costly, which some parents may not have the money to

pay for as they have a family to look after,

therefore the audience may be studying either

full or part time but also have a part time job,

thus they can afford to buy more costly

    clothing.

I will use this in my production by organising the actors

to wear costumes that the audience can maybe relate to

but at the same time is funky to relate to the theme of

the song but also attracts the audience.

Colours that best illustrates a funky band on the DVD cover and

    magazine

In your opinion what colours do you think best illustrates a funky band, for

example on the DVD cover and the magazine?

    Question 3.

The results from this questionshows that the audience only

    preferred Bold Bright colours to

be used for the DVD cover and

    magazine.

I will use this information during our

production of the DVD cover andmagazine by using bold bright

    colours appropriately to relate with

the theme of the song, denoting

    integration between both the music

video and DVD cover and magazine,

but also catching the audiences eye.

The denotation of the results connotes

that the audience are loud and are maybe

attention seekers but also that they enjoy

    everyday as it comes.

    Bright and unusual fashion

    sense

Like every artist, we want our band to have a *persona to which brands them as an individual band, for

example Justin Bieber is known for his hair, Bruno mars is associated with a hat and lady gaga is known for

being crazy with her fashion sense. An example of branding for our band is master Shorite's style > Paste

    Question 4.

    Not a graph, just

    shows different

    suggestions that

    some audiences

    thought of

I would use 1 or two of these suggestions and

put the ideas together which we will use for

our band to make them a unique, different

band, which will attract an audience as they

like something different than just bands that

are all the same; they want to see individuality.

    These suggestions connote that the

audiences have different but all bold,

funky ideas for example Bright and

    unusual fashion sense

    A narrative without the

    band

    A performance (A dance

    routine within the song)

    A performance and

    narrative

    A disjunctive

    Question 5.

What do you mainly look for in a music video?

    The results to this question

connotes that the audiences havedifferent requirements to which

they think are interesting in a

music video and will attract a

    mainstream audience like

    themselves.

This also connotes that the audience watch a lot

of music videos as they know what makes a

music video interesting or not, also connoting

that the demographic probably have spare time

every day to watch music videos showing us

that they may still be in full time education for

example Primary or Secondary school, as

speaking from experience, audiences in collegewill most likely have no spare time because of

    the pressure of A-levels.

Thinking about these results, in our

production we will include maybe a narrativeinvolving the band, for example when the

male actors are following the girl, a narrative

without the band, for example shots of the girl

and a performance might include the actors

walking in the street , singing while maybe

    dancing.

How interesting or not interesting a prologue is in a music video

These results suggest that the audiences

have varied opinions about what appeals to

    them in a music video.

    This connotes that the demographic

feel that certain aspects in a music

    video are essential for example

mise-en-scene in a music video is

    very interesting. The audience like

to understand the concept for the

music video, as they might feel itmakes the music video more

enjoyable to be able to understand

it, and maybe they can relate to it.

    Question 8.

The results show what the audience feel would

be the most appropriate locations to film our

    music video.

The results connote that the demographic is

of a young audience as they are fond of

places like Oxford Street and Leicestersquare connoting that they maybe like

shopping with their family or friends in this

area, or just going there to have fun.

    Using this information, in our

music video will use a variety of

    locations to keep it interesting,

and the audience will also be

    able to relate to it.

must have a lot of spare time to listen to

many hours of music a week, connoting

that the audience are proabably of a

    Research Analysis questions

I made this survey by using Survey Monkey. This site allowed me to set out my layout for each of my

questions for example I could decide whether I wanted to make a multiple choice question or a question

which involved the audience leaving comments.

By doing this survey I aimed to find out what the audience thought of our concept and what they think

makes a good music video. From all this I could interpret connotations about who I think our audience is

    for our song.

I thought the result to question 9 was a bit surprising, as the choice Face Book wasn't chosen and I

thought our audience being of a young demographic, who use social networking sites to communicate

with friends would also find out about music videos from face book.

I think maybe some of the questions were answered inaccurately, as some audiences may have just ticked

any option for a question to get the questionnaire over and done with.

I think overall our music video will not be affected as we expected to receive these results as we knew

what audience we were aiming for.
