HANDLER SELECTION

Cradle the scanner back

Pick handler name on the touch screen

Confirm by pressing YES (click “No” to go back to previous screen)

The system will move on to the FLIGHT SELECTION SCREEN (see next slide…)


FLIGHT REGISTRATION SCREEN - ACCESS

To register the flight reference or carrier code please click on this button. The flight registration screen will then open (see next slide)

Here are displayed the units that were delivered, TWO in this example

Print button to be used ONLY if the proper association of units to flights has been made. If no association has been made, the button will remain disabled.

In case of a delivery of containers with mail from a mix of carriers or of an unknown carrier, and only in that case this screen can be directly used as Association screen. The “Print” button is disabled (no printing possible) until a proper association has taken place (see slide 12)


FLIGHT REGISTRATION SCREEN - DESCRIPTION

Alphanumeric keypad to be used for the introduction of flight reference

Shortcut buttons with most frequently used Carrier references

Dynamic flight list. By default shows the 4 most recent flights. As the flight reference is keyed-in the list will be updated (see following slides)

Field where willl be displayed the flight reference as it is typed

“Unknown” and “Mixed carrier” buttons. Disabled by default.


FLIGHT REGISTRATION SCREEN – USE (1)

The Handler starts by typing the first letter/number of the carrier code (1) or alternatively one of the shortcut buttons (2). In this example he types on the “S” and the list is automatically updated to display only the flight references starting with an “S” (the shortcut option is therefore disabled) If the flight he is looking for already appears on the list he can directly touch on it to select it (3) and then “OK”

The Handler types the second letter/number of the carrier code (1). In this example he types on the “Q” and the list is automatically updated to display only the flight references starting with an “SQ”. If the flight he is looking for already appears on the list the can directly touch on it to select it (2) and then “OK”. Also, if the delivery is of a mix of flights from SQ he should click on “Mixed” (3) and click on “OK”. If he knows the carrier but not the flight he should now click on “Unknown” (4) and then “OK”

The Handler types the first number of conveyance reference of the flight (1). In this example he types on the “1” and the list is automatically updated to display only the flight references starting with “SQ 1”. Also the letter keypad is disabled, as no letter can follow a 2 letter carrier code. The options “Unknown” and “Mixed” are also disabled at this stage. If the flight he is looking for already appears on the list the can directly touch on it to select it (2) and then “OK”

If the Handler did not find the flight reference to be registered on the flight list he might need to fully type in the complete reference. In the example he typed “SQ12” which is therefore displayed on the text field above. Now the flight reference is registered and he can click on “OK” (1) The system will request a confirmation to add the flight record (as it did not exist in the preloaded flight list). Click “YES” to continue.

CONTAINER TO FLIGHT ASSOCIATION SCREEN - DESCRIPTION

To add more flight references to the list please click on this button. The flight registration screen will then open (see slides 6 to 11)

If the unit contains a mix of flights from different carriers please use this button If the handler does

not know the Carrier that transported the mail contained in the unit please use this button

The handler assigns the flight by first clicking on the flight reference button (1) and then on the corresponding unit button (2) (in this case the SQ 012 is assigned to Unit 1)

Note: At this stage the “Print” button is still disabled as the process is not yet complete

The handler assigns the flight by first clicking on the flight reference button (1) and then on the corresponding unit button (2)(in this case the UA 1166 is assigned to Unit 2). Once assignment finished the Print Button will be enabled. He clicks on it to launch printing (3)

Click on “END” button (1). The printing of labels is triggered by previous step but this step brings the device to its initial screen for next use.

APPENDIX 0:REPRINTING DAMAGED OR LOST LABELS


IF THE LABELS ARE LOST OR DAMAGED WHEN SLIPPING THEM INTO POUCHES OR STICKING THEM ON THE CONTAINERS 1 - Choose your Handler’s name from

the list

2 - Touch the “Reprint Labels” button on the screen

3 – Select the button corresponding to the delivery you want to reprint the labels from (all the deliveries from the previous hour will be displayed for every handler)

4 – Printing will then start immediately…


APPENDIX 1:DATA COMMUNICATION ISSUES, WARNING MESSAGE

ON HOME SCREEN


WARNING MESSAGE: POSIBLE DATA COMMUNICATION ISSUE

If the handler, when he’s about to make the registration, sees this message, he should notify it to the local Point of Contact (or to IPC) as there might be data communication issues. However he can continue with the registration since the data will be sent out once the communication is recovered

HOW TO RESTART THE SCANNER

1-Press and hold the scanner trigger WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY pressing and holding the “2” key for 3-5 seconds. The screen will turn black, the scanner will be restarted2 – When the “Home” screen is displayed, press the ENTER (*) button. You can now resume the scanning.

APPENDIX 6:BASIC INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO USE THE SCANNER

(VERSION 1) FOR TYPING CONTAINER ID

POWER-SAVING MODE

If not used for a few seconds, the visualisation screen will turn into power-saving mode (empty screen)

A simple clik on the trigger will turn the scanner on immediately

Use the “MODE” button to switch from letter-typing mode to number-typing mode and vice versa

Letter-typing mode works exactly as for mobile phones If a mistake is

made use the “BK” button

Once the ID typed, press “ENTER”

After cradling the scanner back the printing of the

label will go on normally…


APPENDIX 7:USE OF THE “TICKET” GENERATION FUNCTIONALITY


TICKET GENERATION FUNCTIONALITY - DESCRIPTION

• The ticket generation functionality provides a simple way for a handler to register the moment when the shipment was ready to be delivered but couldn’t so because the MRD was being used by another handler

• The “Ticket” button is accessible on any of the interfaces of the application (see slides 5 through 15, 19, 21, etc.)

• The use of the “Ticket” button is not mandatory in order to register a delivery with the MRD. The time-stamp of the delivery, once completed, will be the one of the ticket

• The ticket that is printed when tapping on the button has a very simple layout:

Time of generation of the ticket

Barcode encoding the time of generation of the ticket

Reminder of instruction on when to scan the barcode


TICKET GENERATION FUNCTIONALITY - USE

• When arriving at the delivery area the handler taps on the “Ticket” button (1) (the interface below is ONE EXAMPLE, the “Ticket” button can be tapped on from any other screen)

• The system will then trigger the printing of the ticket label

• The handler needs then to scan the ticket at any moment (before, after or in between scans) when scanning the receptacle ids (slide 4) or the ULD ID (Appendix 4)
