1. Downhill-what went wrong 2. Athen's great power was the cause for Sparta and Corinth to worry. Athen's attempt to develop its trade to the Ionian sea had been the motive for war. There was an attempt for a solution to be found but with no results. So,war started. The worst thing was that this was a civil war. Two allies were confronting each other. The Peloponnesian(Spartan) and the Athenian. The first had powerful army forces and the second one powerful fleet (navy). 3. The Spartans together with their allies invade Attica. The Athenians start their expedition in Sicily. The war ends with the Athenian defeat. During the second year of war plague casts upon Athens. The great political leader, Pericles,dies. Athens lost its leader in a crucial moment. 4. The Spartans put up their own governments in Athens. War starts again in Greece and many cities allie against Sparta. The Spartans start an alliance with the Persians and then war ends.
