THE NEW CALEDONIA GREAT LAGOON REGATTA

A regatta on a exceptional surrounding The world largest lagoon has been haunting the sailor’s spirits from all around the world. Moreover the country’s wealth and nature biodiversity can only be reached through a long trip to the end of the world, yet keeping the myth of the lost island in the Paci!c. The coral reefs and the lagoons of New Caledonia, listed on the Unesco world heritage since July 2008 are well known by the international community for been a worldwide biodiversity domain. Cruising under sail on in this vast untouched lagoon, assorted with its mix of colors along with the mainland’s ocher, is all you need to mesmerize your eyes and get you another step closer to happiness. The experience is divine. A festive regatta It’s a regatta but the concept requests it to be a festive one. Aside from the competition, this three days race will also be the occasion to make sailors experience two parties on islands. Inside the world’s largest lagoon, the New Caledonia Great Lagoon Regatta will live on a festive however authentic ambiance, which will be merging with the millennium Melanesian culture with different stop over on dreamful islands among multicolored waters. The New Caledonia Great Lagoon is open to every type of sailing yacht (racer, monohull, catamaran, trimaran, private sailing boat, charter yacht…) without any limit on their length. The race offers multiples ranking whom one will only be dedicated to enterprises.

PROMOTE THE NAUTICAL SECTOR & THE NEW CALEDONIA’S DESTINATION

The main objective of the Great Lagoon Regatta is to promote the nautical sector by making known this destination throughout a local and warm event so as to attract sailors and tourists from all over the world. Regattas such as the Nioulargue, The Antigua Week, event closer to us the Tahiti Pearl Regatta, proved that nautical events could be a major economical impact on the country not to mention advertisements. Economical Impact It’s indeed an efficient way to promote the destination address to all sailors throughout worldwide yacht club and chartering agency. As to attract a specify customer for all our activities, with a high cost of living, appeal by the sea, disorientation and respectful of environment. The bene!ts The bene!ts are direct and obvious: transports, taxis, hotels, restaurants, provisionnings, shops, yacht rentals, excursions,….These customers are spending much more in comparison to the standard tourist as they are also seeking for authenticity. Moreover the results are also indirect: the advertisement done around this type of event does a natural communication for the destination. Synergy The organization of such event allows taking part and working together not only the actors of the economical industry but also the institutions, the associations, the sportive clubs, local enterprise, student (with a poster challenge): involve and sensitize as much as possible around a fervent project. As all the booming networks, are then easing new project, along with communication, they all boost the local economy.

THE TEAM

All issued from the tourism and nautical industry, the Great Lagoon Regatta’s team reunite the energy, the dynamic and competences of the nautical sector in New Caledonia.

HERVÉ MOAL PRESIDENT OF THE GLR ASSOCIATION Manager of Noumea Yacht Services in New Caledonia which is a super yachts servicing company. He has been in the nauIcal industry for decade around the world and operated in the sailing industry. Sailor himself, former vice president of the sailing league in French Polynesia he was one of the founder of the TahiI Pearl RegaKa.

LUCIE JALABERT DEPUTY SECRETARY Coordinator of the nauIcal and tourism acIviIes in New Caledonia, Lucie brings her youth and her dynamic but above all her competences on organizaIon, management and communicaIon.

WILLY BESINGUE SECRETARY Willy is one of the rare animator who linked his professionalism and the sailing on open sea. Former skipper he did organize a lot of cruising.

JÉRÔME TOUZÉ VICE PRESIDENT Director of Dream Yacht Charter in TahiI, sailor, skipper, he has sail and worked on every ocean for the majors charter companies. He also took part on the organizaIon of the AnIgua sailing week, the Ariane cup moreover on the dawn of regaKa akin to the June regaKa in Marinique and the TahiI Pearl RegaKa which was an economical success for the nauIcal sector in French Polynesia.

GILLES WATELOT TRESURER Director of Aïto Charter and Dream Yacht Charter, forefather of the bank regaKa in New Caledonia, Gilles has been sailing on the New Caledonian lagoon for many years. Director, manager, skipper, Gilles knows the lagoon by heart.

SECTION ALIZÉS The SecIons Alizés of the yacht club managed by Laurence Boucher and Alan Quere ensure sailing always retain a major secIon in the sporIng industry. Boris François will be the managing arbiter of the race.
