Department profile

• The Mechanical Engineering Department is a sub-department of the Govt. of Jammu And Kashmir.

• It renders support to various other govt. departments like PWD, R&B, LAWDA, PHE, and Railways.

• It acquires, supplies and maintains heavy machinery.

• It provides support to the Hospitals all over the state for their AC`s and heating systems.

• It plays a vital role during winters by supplying machinery for clearance of snow.

• In the training the department dealt with heavy machinery like :-

TIPPERA truck having a rear platform which can be raised at its front end, thus enabling a load to be discharged.

Conclusion and future scope

• It was observed that the Mechanical Engineering Department is a vital department because every other Engineering department relies on it for maintenance and service of Heavy Machinery.

• Though it provides satisfactory services with the infrastructure available, it lacks on the front of technological advancement.

• The department has an everlasting future but it can thrive only with the introduction and employment of latest technologies and techniques.
