What is ocean modelling?

The ocean (like the atmosphere) is composed by a (newtonian) fluid that can be -quite well- studied using one some basic laws and a couple of principles….

- F=m·a- Conservation of mass, temperature (energy)

Seems feasible

And forcing, and assimilation….?

BUT N-S equations are hyperbolic-type…..so we need, to set up initial conditions

(1) Tosca Project is indebted at this point to: Copernico, Archimedes, da Vinci, Torricelli, Pascal, Bernoulli, Newton, Lagrange, Euler, Navier, Stokes and some (not many) others.
