    PRESENTATION OF H. ELECT

    ( The D. of C. takes H. Elect by the r. hd. to the W. in

    front of P.S.s chair.)D. of C. (with R. or H.Sn.)- E. Comp.H., I present to

    you E. Comp. (Name) , H. Elect, to be obligated as

    Second Prin.

    I.P. (to the D. of C.) E. Comp. (Name), yourpresentation shall be attended to.

    ( The D. of C. sits down in one of the side chairs.)

    ADDRESS OF H. ELECT

    I.P.E. Comp. (Name), it cannot but be satisfactory

    and gratifying to your feelings, that in discharging the

    duties of Third Prin. of this Chapter, you have been so far

    successful as to meet with approbation of its members.

    This respect and gratitude have been evinced by their

    selecting you for the more important office of Second Prin.At your installation on a former occasion, the duties of

    Prin. were fully pointed out to you, and, as I have no doubt

    they are strongly impressed on your mind, I shall not repeat

    them, under the full conviction that you will not depart

    from that path of rectitude which has led you to further

    honour and preferment.

    I must now ask if you are willing to take Solemn Ob.

    of Second Prin.?

    Can. I am.

    I.P. Then you will kl. on the side of the A.

    ( Asstt. D. of C. goes to S. side of A., removes the

    candle and places the K.S. there. The D. of C. conducts H.

    Elect to S. side of A., instructs him to kl. on b. k., andstands on hir r.. side.

    The I.P. advances to N. side of A., stands facing the

    Can. and gives one K. All stand to order with Sn. of R.)

    I.P. Place both hds. on the t.i.n.l. (Done), state your

    name at length, and say after me:

    I,. in the presence of the All-merciful, and EternalGod, and in this H.R.A. Chapter of J., of my own free will

    and accord do here by (the I.P.touches Can.s hds. with thebearing on his Sceptre.) and hereon ( the I.P. touches

    t.i.n.l.with the bearing on his Sceptre.) most solemnlypromise and swear that I will strictly adhere to the various

    Obs. entered into me during my Masonic career, but above

    all, I solemnly vow, under the penalties of all my Obs., that

    I will never divulge the S..s restricted to the Second Prin.schair to any individual whomsoever, unless it be to a

    Comp. of this Supreme Degree, who shall have been

    previously into the chair of J. regularly elected, or

    appointed by lawfully constituted authority, to that of H.,

    duly obligated, and installed in a conclave of installed

    Second Prins. regularly congregated for that purpose. I

    further solemnly ( the I.P. touches Can. s hds. again withthe bearing on his Sceptre.) promise that I will discharge

    the duties of the office, to the best of my ability, and I pray

    the M. H. by His strength, to support me in my endeavours

    and keep me steadfast in this the Solemn Ob. of second

    Prin.

    (All drop sign of R., but remain standing.)I.P. as a pledge of fidelity and to render this binding as

    a solemn Ob., you will seal it t.w.e. on the t.i.n.l. in the

    manner most binding on you. (Done) Rise ( here the I.P.motions with his Sceptre.) duly obligated Seond Prin.

    ADDRESS TO SECOND PRINCIPAL

    ( If Z . is the installing H. and delivers the Address

    below, he will place his Sceptre on his pedestal and turn to

    H. if it is any other P.P., then he goes direct to H., whostands.)

    Inst.H.- E. Comp H., the colour of your rob-Purple is

    an emblem of union, being composed of blue and crimson,

    the former of which is the appropriate colour of Symbolical

    Masonry, and the latter of the R.A. It instructs you that the

    harmony and union of the Chapter should be your constantaim, to which end you are studiously to avoid all occasions

    of giving offence, or of entertaining any subject which

    might create dissension or division in the Chapter and by

    every means in your power endeavour to establish

    permanent union and good understanding in the different

    Orders of Freemasonry.

    And as the glorious sun at its meridian height

    disperses the mist and clouds which obscure the horizon, so

    may your exertions dispel the gloom of jealousy and

    discord whenever it may arise.

    Inst.H. (continues)-Youtr Sceptre bearing the All

    Seeing Eye, (pointing to H.s Secptre) is an emblem of

    vigilance. It instructs you to stands as a watchman on atower, to guard the Comps. and admonish them to fidelity

    and Industry.

    Let it at the same time be a faithful monitor to

    yourself, so that when the Great Watchman of Israel, whose

    eye never slumbers nor sleeps, shall relieve you from your

    post on earth , you may be permitted to participate in thathappiness which will never end.

    (The installing H. and H., both resume their seats.)
