Assumptions

1. Women who have had an abortion have

higher risk of subsequent mental health

problems compared to women who have not had

an abortion.

2. Women with a history of abortion have higher

rates of anxiety, depression, alcohol use/ misuse,

marijuana use, and suicidal behavior, comparedthose who have not had an abortion.

Research Design

The research questions to attempt to understand

the psychological impactsof abortion that may not necessarily be fully

known beforehand.

This would be phenomenological study that

attempts to comprehendperceptions and understandings related to

respondents own experiences

of abortion.
