ABSTRACTFiber reinforced polymer composites have a wide variety of applications as a class of structural materials because of their advantages such as ease of fabrication, relatively low cost of production & superior strength as compared to neat polymer resins. The fiber which serves as a reinforcement in polymers may be either synthetic or natural. Although synthetic fibers such as glass, carbon etc. possess high specific strength, their field of applications are limited because of their higher costs of production. Recently, there is an increasing interest in hybrid composites that are made by reinforcement of two or more different types of fibers in a single matrix, because these materials attain a range of properties that cannot be obtained with a particular kind of reinforcement. Further, material costs can be reduced by careful selection of reinforcing fibers. For a composite material, its mechanical behavior depends on many factors such as fiber content, orientation, types, length etc. In this connection, the objective of the present research work is to study the effect of fiber content on the mechanical and water absorption behavior of jute/coir/groundnut shell fibers reinforced epoxy based hybrid composites. Objective of the projectTo develop a new class of hybrid polymer composites to explore the potential of jute fiber and coir fiber.Evaluation of mechanical properties such as: tensile strength, flexural strength, impact strength and water absorption rate.To study their influence of fiber content on mechanical properties of composites.Problem identifiedLiterature surveyS.NoJournal NameAuthor Name & Year1Investigating the mechanical behaviour of coconut shell and groundnut shell reinforced polymer compositeS. The mold is closed with a top force or plug member, pressure is applied to force the material into contact with all mold areas, while heatandpressureare maintained until the molding material has cured.

CONCLUSIONThe reason behind selecting this project is a intensive interest in the field of composite materials, so we decided to do a project in composite materials with the application of hybrid composite due to its significant characteristics. We planned to enhance the mechanical characteristics of jute/coir fiber reinforced epoxy based hybrid composites.A part of work is done that we mentioned in the title of work done so for. The remaining work is going to done in our next part.
