The EU’s Common Agriculture Policy (CAP) faces major challenges in order to meet these demands. The future policy will have to tackle the significant negative impacts on soil, water, and climate as well as decli- ning biodiversity. At the same time, the CAP will have to ensure that the economic needs of sustainable farming are met by the policy. In time for the upcoming debate on the future of the CAP post 2020, NABU (BirdLife Partner in Germany) and BirdLife Europe would like to invite you to a discussion on the results of a study commissioned by NABU to the Institute for Agro-ecology and Biodiversity (ifab). The study proposes new, environmen- tally sound support schemes for agriculture and calculates the income effects for different types of farms. We are looking forward to your participation and contributions. After the presentation and debate we would like to invite you to informal discussions over snacks and drinks. Presentation and discussion of a new NABU study

Dear Madam/Sir,

Under the new global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) the EU has committed to sustainable agriculture and the recovery of biodiversity. The EU’s Common Agriculture Policy (CAP) faces major challenges in order to meet these demands. The future policy will have to tackle the significant negative impacts on soil, water, and climate as well as decli-ning biodiversity.

The study proposes new, environmen-tally sound support schemes for agriculture and calculates the income effects for different types of farms.

We are looking forward to your participation and contributions. After the presentation and debate we would like to invite you to informal discussions over snacks and drinks.

Yours faithfully,

Leif Miller Angelo CasertaCEO NABU Director, BirdLife Europe and Central Asia
