Picture a classroom consisting of middle schoolers and their history or global issues teacher. What would a lesson look like? consist of? Reading a chapter? Do they stay interested, focussed, and intrigued?Or are they more concentrated on what might be on test instead of taking in the information given and forming their own opinions and ideas?CLICK

-I would like for this to be about people and a culture and what those people have gone through to be where the are today.I want a student to understand that on an emotional level. Not from a level of stress where they will be tested about specific dates.

Middle-Schoolers in a Current Global Issues classAUDIENCE


These are students ages 12-14 years old that are beginning to form their own opinions about the world and are making decisions for themselves, but they are stillimpressionable.

Global Issues classes cover things such as energy crisis, war, terrorism, globalization, ethnic conflict, debt etc. These things will be covered butby doing so through story telling. They will be seeing these things happen through the eyes of a local from the country/city.

Their surroundings are the classroom but I also see this being supported by a possible organizationsuch as the World Affairs Council and what they call Global Classrooms

I want to create an artifact other then a huge intimidating book... this could be another way of teaching. These booklets/posters would be administered to world history classrooms/contemporary world issues classrooms,CLICKThe books contents will contain personas that the students will be able to relate to and see the connections throughout the historyCLICKThis will be a way a way for teachers to engage their students
