Once logged-in, from the main menu you have two ways to access to your Portabilies: Form the Manager of your eportfolio From the Portabily’s main page.

Your Portabilies on the ePortfolio manager. On the Manager page of your ePortfolio you will find all your Portabilies. You can manage their privacy from here (if you are a teacher or a student with publishing permission) and share them through the collection system.

Publish & Share

Depending on your role, you will either have permission, or not, to publish contents.

Student • If working within a Secure Educational Environment

(Primary and Secondary school, and in general those under 18) may not publish any resource.

• If working within a General Environment (for example

University) may publish all own resources.

Teacher may publish own resources and those of his/her students.

Administrator may publish all resources of all teachers and students at the school.

Privacy & publishing permission

You can mange the privacy of your Portablies form the Manager page of your eportfolio.

PRIVATE: nobody, except the author, and his/her teachers if the author is a student, may view them. INTRANET: May be viewed only by the members of that school when logging in with their password. PUBLIC: may be viewed on internet by anyone who can access the portfolio through a public URL.

When you are in “visualisation mode” you can share your Portabilies on social networks or by email. Click on the Share icon and a window with several options will a appear on the screen.

In Edit Mode you will be able to modify your Portabily. In Visualisation mode you can interact with your Portabilies or those of other users.

Edition Mode The Top Bar is red and you can use all the editing options. To Switch to the Visualisation Mode, just click on the Preview Button.

Visualisation Mode The Top Bar is grey. You can freely interact with the project by clicking on the cells. To switch to the Edition Mode, just click on the Edit Button.

On visualisation mode you have access to the following features:

FULL SCREEN This button appears when you put your mouse over a cell and allows you to visualize the cell content in a full screen mode. To exit from the Full Screen Mode, just press the button “Esc” on your device..

Create a new

From the Portabily Main Page you can create a new Portabily using a template or from scratch, by clicking on the “New Portabily” button.

CREATE A NEW PORTABILY FROM SCRATCH Click on the button “Create new Layout”. A default, basic setting is provided for your new Portabily

Once you are working on your Portabily, you can customise these and other parameters from the Setting Box, and see in real time the changes on your Portabily.

If you create a Portabily from scratch, our advice is to start with this default setting. Then, from the Setting Box, you will be able to modify it at any moment.

When you edit a Portabily you have 5 different structural elements on your screen: 1- The grid: is the place where you build your presentation adding cells and contents, modifying colours, creating views, etc. 2 – On the Top Bar you have several editing options + the access to the Library and the Setting Box. 3- In the Setting Box you can modify the aspect and the layout of your Portabilies: changing the screen visualisation mode (Fluid, Responsive, Absolute), add and delete rows and columns, changing colours, lines, etc. 4- The Library: here you can find and upload all your contents: videos, pictures, websites, embeds, 3d, pdf, etc. 5- The cell is the basic unit of a Portabily. Cells can contain all the elements that you have in your library. By clicking on a cell, a window with the cell’s edit option will appear.

The Setting Box

In the Library you can find all your contents and upload new ones: videos, pictures, websites, embeds, 3d, pdf, etc.

The Library

Other Library features Folders. Here you can select one of the folders that you have created in the resource library. Only the resources included in the selected folder will appear in the Library.

Upload more files If you wish to add new items to the library, click on this button. The Resource Library will open and you can include new content in any of the supported formats.

The minimum cell width depends on the number of columns you are working with and the display mode you have chosen (absolute, responsive, fluid).

The cell is the basic unit of the Portabily’s grid. In each Portabily you can have many cells as you wish. You can add and delete cells one by one or add and delete entire rows and columns. You can move the cells inside the grid, expand and reduce them by grabbing them around the corners. Depending on the option of "cell mobility" that you have chosen in the Top Bar, you can move the cells and modify their size more or less freely

You can have as many cells as you wish. To add a new cell, use + button A new cell will be added in the first empty space of the grid.

Or you can add and delete entire rows and columns, using the Setting Box options.

Basic Option

All the options are de-activated This option provides you with the maximum control over the cells, but also less flexibility. You can move or modify the size of a cell only if there is an empty space around it, not occupied by other cells.

Swapping cells

This option adds to the basic option the possibility of exchanging one cell with another. You can exchange: • Two cells of the same dimension • A larger cell with one or more smaller cells

Pushing cells

This option is possibly the most flexible. You can move a cell anywhere on the grid and freely modify its dimensions. Cells occupying positions affected by movement or enlargement will be pushed down, leaving the affected spaces free.

Floating cells

This option allows you to move the cells as you prefer, but does not allow you to leave free space, and the system always reconfigures the grid so that the cells occupy the minimum possible space.

To add an image to a cell, just drag it from the Library. If you wish to edit the image, click on the Edit Cell Button.

Add audio to the image

To add an audio to an image, just drag the audio from the library to the image. The audio will be added automatically.

If you wish to EDIT the audio, click on the “Edit cell” button to open the Audio Editor. By clicking on the Audio button, you will be able to:

Add Link to the image

If you wish to add a link to an image, first click on the image and then click on the “Edit cell” button.

Now click on the “Link button” and introduce the URL of your choice in the “ Insert Link” field.

Finally, choose whether the linked page will open in a new web browser window or in the same window of your Portabily.

To add a video to a cell, just drag it from the Library. If you wish to edit the video, click on the video and then Edit Cell Button.

In the video editor window you have 2 options:

To add an external Audio to a Video, drag an audio from your library.

The options to modify the original audio setting and the new audio setting will appear on the setting area.

You can add a text label like this one, to texts, videos and pictures. To add a text label, Click first on the cell and then click on the “Edit Cell” button to open the editor.

Use the Title field to write your text. Then mark the “activate text label” check button.

To include an attachment into your Portabily, drag it form the library to a cell. Depending on the content, you may have 2 different visualisation formats:

a) File to download: PPt, Xls, Word, Key Notes, Psd, Ai, Zip, Rar, etc.

b) Direct visualisation in the cell Pdf, Webpages (Url), Google docs (Slide, Sheets, calendar, Doc), etc.

Admitted Formats: Txt, rtf, xlm, Pdf, Office (PPt, PPtx, Xls, Xlsx, Doc, Docx), Url, Open Office, Keynote, Rar, Zip, Rpm, Ai, Google Docs (Doc, Sheets, Slide).

Portabily allows you to include many other formats, that we call, “attachments” to enrich your pages and presentations: Pdf, webpages, Ppt, Xls, KeyNote, Zip, etc.

You can include in your Portabily any web object provided with an embed code. To do it, just drag the object from the Library to a cell.

If you wish to edit the size of the embedded objet, to adapt it to the size of the cell, click on the cell and then the Edit Cell Button.

On the Settings Area a window with the embed information will appear. Here you can change the width and the height of your object to adjust it to the cell dimension.

Add a new text To add a new text, click on the T button and then click on an empty cell.

A text editor will be open. Write and format your text and then click on save.

In the text editor you have many options, including advanced ones like: • Add images and video, • Add source code • Equation editor • Etc.

Save text in the library All the texts you write, including their format (font size, font family, colours, etc.) are automatically saved into your Library, so, in case you need them, you do not have to rewrite but just drag into a new cell.

Second field of text

For the more demanding users, the text editor offers the possibility to add a second field of text, that appears when a user clicks on the default text. For example, it is very useful to just show the title by default and the whole text only after the user clicks on the title. To add a second Filed of Text you have to:

1) Edit the cell with the text by clicking on the Edit Cell button.

2) In the Text Editor, select

3) Activate the “2Text Field” check box. A second field of text appears. Introduce and edit your text.

4) Click on Save

VERY IMPORTANT!!! Now you have to Edit the View of the cell to load the second text. To find out how to do it, refer to the next section “Edit view”.

One of the great feature offered by Portabily is the possibility to create views.

It allows you to set-up and associate a different view to each one of the contents and re-organise their configuration in order to show, each time, the visualisation you wish. For example, you can configure the view of this cell so that, when you click on it, the contents are displayed as in this second image, showing only the ones you have chosen and hiding the others. You can associate a View to each cell of your Portabily.

You can choose between three different visualisations formats: Fluid, Responsive or Absolute

Fluid: the project adapts horizontally to any screen, occupying in width the maximum available space.

Responsive: the project will occupy horizontally the entire screen, except for a small lateral margin.

Absolute: the project does not adapt to the screen but occupies, horizontally and vertically, the dimensions chosen by the author. If the project is larger than the screen, a horizontal scroll bar will appear for moving the project.

The minimum height of the cell is determined manually. Each new cell or row you add will default to the minimum height and you can then extend it. The minimum height for a row is 50 pixels.

This format is the one that allows the author more control over the dimensions of the project. The width and total height of the project are determined manually by choosing the number of pixels. By increasing and decreasing the number of columns and rows, the width and total height do not change, but the width or height of each column or row is reduced or increased.
