• First phase (2016): • Collected ideas and shared them with MGA SAC.
• Second Phase (2017): • Communicate with the winners of last year’s Outstanding Counselor
Awards and ask them 2-3 key questions to be able to find a model and provide to other SB counselors.
• Evaluate and select ideas will form a pilot system to run in our region (2018)

Student Paper Contest
Student Paper Contest
• IEEE R8 Student Paper Contest is an annual event divided into two parts:
1. Part I: Papers are invited from IEEE students in Region 8. Papers without names or affiliations are marked by five jury members.Best five papers are chosen.
2. Part II: Papers are presented at an IEEE R8 Conference (EUROCON or MELECON) and published in the conference proceedings.
• IEEE R8 pays for the five students to attend the conference and present the paper.
• IEEE R8 also gives money prizes to the best three out of the five and a small prize to the student branch of the winning paper.
• All valid participants will be given a certificate of participation for their effort preparing the paper.
What?
Student Paper Contest
• SPC is an excellent occasion for personal leadership and involvement of studentmembers in a prospective IEEE scientific/technical activity;
• SPC is a very good reason and chance for activating and keeping active StudentBranches
• It makes possible further promotion of IEEE among students;
• It is an attractive situation for IEEE members with non-student grades - the local andregional SPC Committee (Jury) members, Region 8 Technical Activities Committeeassociate reviewers, Student Branch Counselors, Professors (student mentors) andmany others- to be involved and to participate in such an interesting IEEE studentactivity.
Why?
Student Paper Contest
• IEEE student members presenting work at the level of graduate, masters
• Any subject matters within IEEE. The material does not have to be at thetechnical front edge of an IEEE magazine paper, but must include theusual:
o Theory, importance of the work, results, comparisons, andconclusions normally expected in a good engineering paper.
