February 7, 1964

The Church Council met with the Mission Cormnittee of the First Baptist Church, for a supper meeting. Shortly after supper our council went to the conferance room of the First Church, for there regular monthly business meeting.

Those attending this meeting were as follows: Dr. Davi~ L. Fletcher (Chairman), Mr. L. D. Pippin, Mr. Johnny Roberson, Mr. Lewis Webb, Mr. Jack VanOpstall, Mrs. Hazel Staley and Mrs. Grace Ray.

Following the devotion<the calandar was set up for the month of March. Week of Prayer March 2 - 61 Revival March 15 - 22 - Rev. B. E. Morris Leading. Layman's Day March 15th.

Then Mr. Joe Burnette discussed organized visitation plans with the council. Dr. Fletcher asked Mr. Burnette to speak to the chapel on Wednesday, February 19th, at the midweek service on planned organized visitation. Mr. Burnette accepted the invitation.

Mr. Pippin brought before the council that due to the increase of work in our chapel that Mrs. Grace Ray should be paid and that the council reccommend to the finance Chm!hittee that she be paid as secretary. Mr. Lewis Webb moved that the reccommendation be referred to the finance connnittee. The motion was seconded by Mr. Jack VanOpstall,and the vote was unamiously carried.

There being no futher business the meeting ajourned.

The Church Council had there regular monthly meeting Monday, March ZD, 19641 7:ZD p.m. with six members attending.

Those attending this meeting were as follows: Dr. David L. Fletcher Mr. L. D. Pippin, Mr. Jack VanOpstall, Mr. Johnny Roberson, and Mrs. Hazel Staley.

The Agenda was discussed and most of the time was spent on dates for the calander. The following calander dates were planned& Youth Week April 26-May 2, Vacation Bible School, June 8-17. Mrs. Helen Fletcher is to lead the Junior Choir.

The Church Council had there regular monthly meeting Monday, April 27, 1964. The finance committee was asked to meet with the church council, to help decide what to do about these designated funds taken by different classes and organizations as projects.

Those attending this meeting were as follows: Dr. David L. Fletcher, Mr. L. D. Pippin, Mr. JackVanOpstall, Mr. Johnny Roberson, Mrs. Hazel Staley, and Mrs. Grace Ray (Church Council), Mr. Calvin Tucker, Mr. James Conner, Mr. Jack Baker, and Mrs. J. C. Herrin (Finance Committee).

The meeting was called to order by Dr. Fletcher. Dr. Fletcher opened the meeting by ~aadi~g parts of the third cbapeer of Corinthians, after which he lead in prayer.

It was approved by the two cormnitteesthat all classes and organizations must have the approval of the Church Council before starting a project.

The Agenda was discusses and the following items were approved& 1- Calander Planning.

2- ~he finishing of the demolition of the old building. We decided that something must be done about this situation soon. Mr. Fincher and Mri Gibbs had stated they would clear ta~ up for the material. The Committee decided to give Mr. Fincher the first choice.

3- Summer Revival. Dttentive dates August 16-23

4- A new plan of listing finances. It was decided that we would meet with the finance Committee of the first Baptist Church, Monday, May 11th. to see how our finances are set up and find a better methods of listing finances.

56-Place for prayer room. The committee decided on the first room to the left ai waeent~~rthe foyer of the church.

6- Methmds of naming the old new building. A Committee wil be selected to decide on the best methods of nameing the bld new building.

7- Summer Youth Program. The committee decided if invited to join the First Baptist Church in there Summer program.

The Church Council had there regular monthly meeting Monday, May 25, 1964, 7:'9J p.m. with seven members attending.

Those attending this meeting were as follows: Dr. David L. Fletcher, Mr. L. D. Pippin, Mr. Jack VanOpstall, Mr. Johnny Roberson, Mr. Lewis Webb, Mrs. Hazel Staley and Mrs. Grace Ray.

The meeting was called to order by Dr. Fletcher. Dr. Fletcher opened the meeting by reading the twelth chapter of Romans, after which he closed a period of silent prayer by the council.

After the devotional part of the meeting Dr. Fletcher asked the secretary to read the minutes of the last meeting. They were approved as read.

Following the approval of the minutes, the Agenda was discussed and the following items were approved.

1- Calander Planning. 2- V.B.S. Needs.

Dr. Fletcher stated that Mrs. Fincher (V.B.S. Principal) would like to have the approval of the council to have a picknick on Friday, June 5th. instead of the usual parade that has been a tradition in the past. The Council gave Mrs. Fincher the authority to decide what was best for the V. B. School.

3- Name a Committee to select evangelist. The council asked that Dr. Fletcher decide on two er three evangelist and then any one who 1M:>uld like to hear them preachecould go and hear them. Then the pastor will decide on the one to get for the revival.

4- Budget Connnittee and Nominating Committee The council was asked to think and pray about who would be the best suited to serve on the budget committee and bring a list back to the Council meeting next month. The council will then decide and reccommend a budget committee to the church. The nominating committee will decide on the definate date to start meeting after talking to Mr. Gene Godfrey (Chainnan of the Nomonating Committee).

5- Recreation and Day Camp

Our Chapel will partisapate in the planned recreational Program of the First Baptist Church.

The Council asked that th calander be cleared with the office or Mrs. Betty Webb a.bout the use of the hut. Each Class, organization and Connnittees using the hut for any form of recreation will be responsible for cleaning after it has been used.

6- A Committee to discuss the use of the Hut.

Under new business Dr. Fletcher audtMrl.tBappin stated that Mrs. Joyce Dellinger asked that she be paid a small aalary for playing the organ. After much discussion the council ask6.ddthat Dr. Fletcher fine out from Mrs. Dellinger the limited amount she would play the organ for. Then bring it back before the council for futher discussion next month.

The Church Council had there regular monthly meeting Wednesday, June 24, 1964, after prayer service.

Those attending this meeting were as follows: Mr. L. D. Pippin, Mr. Jack VanOpstall., Mr. Johnny Roberson, Mrs Hazel Staley and Mrs. Grace Ray.

The meeting was called to order by Mr. Pippin. Mr. Pippin opened the meeting by asking Mrs. Staley to lead in prayer.

After the devotional part of the meeting Mr. Pippin asked the secretary to read the minutes of the last meeting. They were approved as read.

Following the approval of the minutes the agenda was discussed and the following items were approved.

1- Calendar Planning. 2- Discuss project for paying off the First Union National Bank, en­

debtness of $3,551.24 by the first of the year. The Council recconnnends that we set up a Building fund by the church as a hold. Mr, Johnny Roberson was asked to bring this before the church next business meeting.

3- Visitation Program. . We will try different approaches on the visitation program until we find the best method for this program.

4- To Recconnnend a Budget Committee. Mr. Bruce Anderson was reccommended to the council as chairman of the Budget Committee. Mr. Jack VanOpstall moved that Mr. Anders&n~ be reccormnended to the church as chairman of the budget committee. Mrs. Hazel Staley seconded the motion and the vote was c!3.rri_An,

5- Memograph Kachine for the Office. Mr. Johnny Roberson moved that the fimance committee look into the purchasing of a memograph machine for the office. The motion was seconded by Mr. Jack VanOpstall, and the vote was carried.

6- The Naming of the old new building. The Council reccommended that this be a church wide project. Have a contest with a committee to decide on the best name, and the name chosen will get a gift for naming the building.

Under old business a reccommerl.dation was made by Mrs. Grace Ray to reccommendj to the finance cormnittee to pay Mrs. Joyce Dellinger, for plajlbng the organ.

The motion was seconded by Mrs. Hazel Staley and the vote was carried.

There being no further business the meeting closed with prayer by Mr. Johnny Roberson.

July 21, 1965

The Church Council Committee met June 21, 1965 with 6 members present.

We opened with prayer.

We discussed when the pastor would ta¥e his vacation. His vacation

will be July 12th - 26th. He will also be out of town on August 8th.

A week in August, we will observe Youth Week. On Sept. 19th has been

set aside as Promotion Sunday and Dempnstration Day. We set our goals

for that Sunday to 325 in Sunday School and 141 in Training Union. On

October 4th - 8th we will have Sunday School Training and Preparation

Week, also in October we will begin Stewardship.

A motion was made and carried that the church would change promotion

deadline to October 15th.

We closed with prayer.

The meeting was called to order by Dr. Flatcher. Dr. Fletcher opened the meeting by reading Psalm :tf 1, after which he asked Mr. Lewis Webb to lead the council in prayer.

After the devotional past of the meeting Dr. Fletcher asked the secretary to read the minutes of the last meeting. They were approved as read.

Following the approval of the minutes the Agenda was discussed and the following items were approved.

Ninety families or needed to pledge $1.fO per. week over and above the±~ regular tithes and offerings to pay off this loan in six months.
