ED Preparedness Discussion
Last month, Emergency Department physicians and nurses, department chiefs, hospital administrators and safety management personnel gathered together for the Annual Emergency Department Disaster Preparedness Round Table Discussion. Lead by course director Pete Sananman, MD, assistant professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at PPMC, the conference gathered together key stakeholders in an effort to share and disseminate information which will aid in the improvement of Hospital Emergency Department (ED) Specific disaster planning. Attendees from the three main spheres of expertise (safety/facilities, administration and clinical) spent half a day interfacing and exchanging ideas on training techniques, and creating and implementing an ED-specific disaster plan.
Many thanks to all who participated and attended the discussion!
Friendly reMinder – PEnn MEDICInE FILMInG AnD PHOTOGRAPHY POLICYCamera phones and tablet devices make it easy to snap photos anywhere, at any time. And events, such as the upcoming Philly Photo Day, held on Oct. 26 by the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center, encourage people to take photos with these devices in an effort to document their daily lives, not realizing that hospitals and health care facilities have policies in place regarding photos and videos on their grounds. To ensure the safety and privacy of our patients, staff should be observant of patients and visitors using their cell phones and other devices in patient care areas and alert the Department of Communications to any photography or filming issues by calling 215.662.2560. For a direct link to the full filming and photo policy, please see the e-Bulletin at: http://news.pennmedicine.org/inside/presbybulletin/.
