What is a Preposition?
A preposition sits before a noun, to show the noun's relationship to another word in the sentence.
Some examples are:
in
on
at
around
above
near
underneath
of
from
Prepositions in Sentences
The jet soared above the clouds.
The cavern was underneath a temple.
Hot rocks are used for spas.
James jumped on the boat.
Laura escaped from prison.
The party's at Larry's house.
Compound Prepositions
Compound prepositions are prepositions that are composed of multiple words. Some examples are:
according to
apart from
in accordance with
with regard to
due to
because of

The boy wasn't going to college because of bad grade
According to the rules, Tim had to get written up.
Due to budget cuts, Jaidan and Keagan's PowerPoint couldn't be made.

A group of words that contains of preposition, a noun or pronoun object of the preposition, and any modifiers of the project.
