Dear Sacred Heart Family,
We had a FANTASTIC October…so much to celebrate! Across all grades our MAPS (Measure of Academic Progress) scores are providing us data in math and reading for our students. Teachers are differentiating instruction with anticipated growth for every student. (We will test our students again in January.) Our Virtuous Behavior System is thriving. Students have excelled by making smart decisions to follow instructions and stay organized. Most importantly, students are striving to be joyful Christians in all aspects of their day.
The list of goodness goes on and on…
• Last week we held our first “I Can” assembly. Students in K-8 were recognized for being exemplary role models of being pure in heart.
• We have two fully-functioning technology labs that are in use all day by our students.
• As a part of National Anti-Bullying month, teachers daily facilitated lessons on how to be the “best version of yourself.”
• Our new CLUBS met with over 200 students being involved.
• The 8th grade class led three all-school Rosaries as they acted out the mysteries.
• All School Masses have been a blessing with students showing reverence in prayer and participation in singing.
• Project Christmas Child was a huge success. (Special thanks to DeAnn Sajdak for the incredible organization of this project!)
• School was alive with parent-teacher conferences. We love our parents who support and collaborate with us! It’s a very special partnership.
• Scholastic Book Fair with proceeds going towards the purchase of a Smart Board.
How about trunk or treat, CYO fall sports, and the Royals! Yes, it has been a stellar October…definitely one to remember. Count it all Joy!
In the Triumph of God’s Great Love,

Congratulations for meeting and exceeding our goal! As promised we will have a Fall Field Day on November 7. Hurrah!Special thanks to Mrs. Amy Loehr and Mrs. Trish Peterson for their amazing help and leadership!

Box Tops Results! Thanks to everyone who sent in Box Tops for our fall collection campaign. We raised $840 for our school! Miss Turner’s class sent in the most and is the winning class this semester! Thank you also to DeAnn Sajdak, Tifanie Lopez, Jackie Heinerickson, Susan Rome, Michelle Shank, Misti Ranck, and Jennifer Hiltunen who helped to count and process our Box Tops. Please remember to keep saving your Box Tops for our spring collection.

A PrayerCreated from scripture by Cole Vlach (8th)
O Lord, our Lord, how great is your name through all of the earth. Turn Lord, save my life; in your mercy rescue me. A shield before me is God who saves the humble heart. I praise the justice of the Lord. I celebrate the name of the Lord, most high.

Hot Lunch ProceduresWith the retirement of Mary Rukavina in the front office, it is necessary to readjust our procedures for ordering hot lunch. Lunch orders for the upcoming week will still be due the last day of school the previous week (normally Friday, unless we don’t have school). The time orders are due, however, has been changed to 9:00am. This will allow for new staff to have time to process and deliver the lunch orders to Pizza West before the weekend. We appreciate your attention in this matter.

Happy Retirement to Mary Rukavina, our front office secretary. Mary has been with the Archdiocese for 14 years, the last 4, here at Sacred Heart! She will be missed for her servant’s heart, upbeat spirit and persistant smile. She plans to travel, spend time with her 2 daughters and husband, Dave. She loves SHOJ students and families and has made it clear we’ll see her around volunteering her time in the future. Congratulations, Mary!
I Can Assembly!Last Friday, we gathered for the first “I Can” Awards Assembly. The “I Can” Award was established this year to honor students who exemplify virtuous behavior by consistent effort in living out Christ-like relationships with others, determination in academics, and a demonstration of Christian ideals. Each quarter, teachers in grades K-2 draw the name of a boy and a girl who have turned in a completed VBF card. Students in grades 3-8 were selected by their classmates for the “I Can” Award.
