Analyze a team by Sociogram

A sociogram* is a graph or map of the relationships between individuals First make a criterion. criterion may be positive (want to practice with others)

or negative (doesn’t want) Used in Classrooms to know trends of pupilsTeacher asks: ‘You want to visit Dubai Zoo, whom you want to take with you?(1st criterion) Whom you don’t want to take with you? (2nd criterion) . A student can select only one friend for both criteria. Then find the most voted student for both criteria. Now he can meet both students and solve their problems. *This is developed by Jacob

Five stages to team building

Stage 1. Forming. When teams first get together, members are generally cautious and uncertain about many things.. Leader must set the focus. Stage 2. Storming.. Patient and impatient people clash. Trust is tested, and confusions around goals and roles begin to surface. If there are heavy deadlines, this stage can be quite tense. Stage 3. Norming. As people get to know each other, they reconcile and agree on things like decision-making processes, resources, timing, quality standards. A "norm" is something everyone understands. Stage 4. Performing. The final stages of team development involve using all the experience and understanding with each other to get results for each other and the organization. State 5: Adjourning: Many teams will reach this stage eventually. For example, project teams exist for only a fixed period, and even permanent teams may be disbanded through organizational restructuring.

Teamwork in Operation theatre Teamwork of our Body. (Belly takes major parts

of food while all other parts work?, strike, death)

Teamwork of Birds (while flying in the sky in V shape it can fly 170% longer, energy distribution while V shape)

Some Examples of Teamwork

Teamwork 14

One day it occurred to The Members (parts) of the Body that they were doing all of the work while the Belly got all of the food. They believed the Belly was lazy and unproductive. It was decided that they would hold a meeting that evening to discuss how unfair this seemed. After what was a very long meeting that night it was voted on that The Members of the Body would go on strike until the Belly agreed to take its proper share of the work. The unhappy body parts didn’t do anything for several days in an attempt to stop feeding the Belly. The Legs stopped walking, the Hands stopped moving and the Teeth stopped chewing. As a result of this inactivity and the starving of the Belly, the Legs became more and more tired, the Hands could hardly move anymore and the Mouth became parched and very dry. Eventually the entire Body collapsed and passed away as the Belly completely starved.

slow and steady wins the race: Hare fast running and

over confidence made him fail Fast and consistent will always beat the slow and

steady: Hare made analysis and find the causes First identify your core competency and then change

the playing field to suit your core competency: Hare failed when tortoise took the river way

It's good to be individually brilliant and to have strong core competencies; but unless you're able to work in a team and harness each other's core competencies, you'll always perform below par because there will always be situations at which you'll do poorly and someone else does well.

Teamwork 16

When you see geese flying along in "V" formation, you might consider what science has discovered as to why they fly that way. As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following. By flying in "V" formation, the whole flock adds at least 71 percent greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own. People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going more quickly and easily because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.

Teamwork 17

A leader can do some activity to plant the team spirit in the members. Here is a simple one to boost the communication skill. Divide your group into pairs, and have each pair sit on the floor back to back. Give one person in each pair a picture of a shape, and give the other person a pencil and pad of paper.Ask the people holding the pictures to give verbal instructions to their partners on how to draw the shape – without actually telling the partners what the shape is. After they've finished, ask each pair to compare their original shape with the actual drawing, and consider the following questions: How well did the first person describe the shape? How well did the second person interpret the instructions? Were there problems with both the sending and receiving parts of

the communication process? (sample from : http://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newTMM_52.htm)
