JOB MARKET SCOPE Analytics compiled from HGTC’s College Central Network show that the business sector was a leader for job postings and career opportunities for HGTC students and alumni. This information is collected through our online career management system from leads entered by employers or leads sent to the CRC for distribution. The Career Resource Center markets these opportunities to HGTC students and alumni through the CCN site at www.collegecentral.com/hgtc and sends emails to faculty members to share with students and alumni. Registration and usage of the site is free for students and alums for up to two years post-graduation. Source: collegecentralnetwork.com/hgtc

What are your career goals and why did you choose HGTC?

“My career goal is to become a

physical therapist. I took a career

personality test and based on how

I answered, it said I should be that

and I like that kind of stuff. I chose

HGTC because it’s local, close,

convenient, and it fits what I

needed.”

Physical Therapy

Mary Rebolini

Medical Billing and

Coding

“My career goals are to

find employment in the

healthcare industry preferably with

medical billing and coding. I saw a

need in the healthcare industry and

thought that would be a great way to

pair up what my knowledge already is

and what I can already be able to

learn and add to what I already have.

I chose HGTC because it just seemed

like a great option. Of course it's

close by and they have the distance

learning option for me and that was

perfect because I could still work

while I take care of my family.”

Timothy Irving

Associate in Science

“My career goal is to

eventually become a

physical therapist.

When I was younger,

I had to go to physical therapy for

6 weeks after I bruised my knee. I

fell in love with what they do and

they inspired me to want to be

one. I chose HGTC because I think

it’s a great two year school and

it’s a great school to transfer from

to a major university like

University of South Carolina.”

Alumni Success Beyond The Campus Christy Ruiter – HGTC May 2017 Graduate – Nursing (ADN)

“The CRC did an incredible job helping me improve my interview skills. Before our

mock interview, I had no idea of the animated facial expressions that occurred

while I was contemplating how to answer the interviewer’s questions. Watching

the recorded mock interview and getting some helpful tips from April Garner

enabled me to rein in the animation during my actual interview. I received an offer,

and accepted it from my #1 job choice. Thanks again to April Garner and the CRC!”

Holden Hewitt – HGTC May 2017 Graduate Information Technology: Networking “I have no problem sharing my experience with the CRC. Without the CRC's help in getting my foot in the door with the data center at HGTC through the work-study program, I would not have gotten the experience I needed at an early stage to boost my career into what it is today. Getting that hands-on experience through the work-study program was so valuable in preparing me for the world of IT. Admittedly, I still feel like I know nothing even after graduating, but I have a very solid foundation to stand on, and it has served me very well thus far. I ended up moving to Austin, TX, where I got a job as an Associate Networking Engineer for Charter/Spectrum in their NOC (Network Operations Center). I am quickly gaining confidence and building professional rapport with my colleagues, and I could not have done this without the help from the CRC. The guidance from April, Kayne, and the rest of the CRC staff allowed me to shine as a professional right out of the gate. I deeply appreciate all they did for me and I implore every student at HGTC to take advantage of the terrific resource that is the CRC! Thanks for reaching out! BTW, [I] took this photo right before my first day on the floor of the NOC. It is pretty laid back; jeans and a button down shirt is all that is required!”
