Location profile: SardiniaLocation profile: Sardinia
Small enough to be classified as an island but big enough to be a universe in itself, Sardinia lies about 120 miles west of the Italian peninsula. Its coastline is probably among Europe's most attracting. Its waters teem with fish and shellfish. Its broad valleys turn into golden oceans of wheat in summer. Its rugged mountains, pocked with caves, are home to large flocks of sheep that feed on pungent wild herbs and produce a cheese which is difficult to forget. Nestled into its silent olive groves are some of the continent's oldest archeological remains, like the “nuraghi”, dating back to the second millennium B.C. Its people speak a language which is incomprehensible to all other Italians and love to dress up in elaborate costumes in occasion of special events and festivals.

Location profile: CagliariLocation profile: Cagliari Cagliari is the capital of the island of Sardinia. It has about 130,000 inhabitants, or about 300,000 including the suburbs (metropolitan area).
Cagliari is an ideal location for sailing, kitesurfing, hiking and outdoor sports. It has a mild climate, often refreshed by northern-west winds. It is close to other beautiful sea-side locations, and is also close to mountain parks, with large forests and wildlife (Sardinian deers, wild boars, etc.).
You can reach Cagliari by air from the main Italian cities with direct flights. There are a dozen flights per day to and from Rome and almost the same to and from Milan. If you prefer to travel by ship, maybe driving your car, you can reach Cagliari overnight from Civita-vecchia (nearby Rome) with Tirrenia Shipping Company.
