Concours d’ orthographeNational Spell Bee Competition- 2016
Preparation Guide
Niveau Intermédiaire(Class 7th and 8th)
SHARING PLANET - SHARING LANGUAGES
1
Preface
It gives us immense pleasure to provide students of French; the guide for French
Spell Bee 2016.The primary objective of launching French Spell Bee in India is to
compliment the regular French course followed by your French teacher in schools
in a way that you naturally develop more interest in learning French as a language
rather than as a matter of subject. The Spell Bee contest has been designed to focus
on correct pronunciation and improve your listening skills which is essential to
learn any language in a more comprehensive way.
The unique USP of this guide is that it encompasses theme based vocabulary from
the popular French Text books available in the Indian market. The prime concern
of this guidebook is to make students more competent French learners as well as
improving their capability of pronouncing, reading and writing different words that
will enable them to acquire functional knowledge of the French language.
Over 300 plus words have been handpicked from the different text books available
in the market for each level which is about 80% of the total vocabulary. Moreover,
we have added 20% of new words which are primarily part of the DELF Junior A1
/ A2 syallabus as per CIEP (Centre international d'études pédagogiques ).
This is the third edition which has been revised to include additional Francophone
theme based vocabulary depending on the levels i.e. debutant, intermediate and
advance.
Following are the three main pedagogical objectives that we’ve taken in our
consideration for the above mentioned amendments:
1) Satisfying learner’s language curiosity and needs by vehemently providing
them new vocabulary and expressions.
2) Acquisition of more vocabulary in a view of making the learner an
independent learner being responsible for his own learning process.
3) Exploring more aspects of Francophone culture and civilization.
2
We would again like to place on record that this guide will be the basis of the Spell
Bee Contest -2016 for all levels i.e. nothing will come out of this guide complied
by our central pedagogy committee.
In order to make this guide more user friendly we would like to indicate that while
going through the given vocabulary based on different themes, you will come
across some nouns along with few abbreviations. For example, nm, nf, nmf, mf,
etc.
The list of all the abbreviations accompanied by their full forms are : nm-nom
masculin, nf- nom féminin, nmf- nom masculin et féminin, mf- masculin et
feminin, nmpl- nom masculin pluriel, nfpl- nom féminin pluriel, nmfpl- nom
masculin et féminin pluriel
Apart from this guide we encourage students to register themselves free at
www.frenchspellbee.org for extra resources like hundreds of Mock Tests which
can be downloaded free of costs.
We hope this guide along with Mock Tests available at our French Spell Bee
dedicated site ( www.frenchspellbee.org ) will give you a lot of confidence to
prepare well for the National Spell Bee Competition - 2016.
Bon courage !
