Domestic Shipment refers to non-ocean borne transport of the equipment within the continent of origin. 1.2 Industry Standards Industry Standards referenced herein and their applicable dates of issue are as follows: STEEL STRUCTURES PAINTING COUNCIL (SSPC) SSPC SP 1, "Solvent Cleaning" SSPC SP 6, "Commercial Blast Cleaning" 1.3 Alternative Proposals The Supplier may offer alternative procedures provided that specific, detailed exceptions to this standard are submitted with the proposal. 1.4 Conflicting Requirements 1.4.1 In case of conflict between the requirements of various documents, the following order of precedence will govern: a. Purchase Order b. Requisition c. Data Sheets d. Project Specifications e. This Technical Standard f. all codes, regulations, ordinances and statutes of all municipal, provincial, state, and national bodies having jurisdiction in the location where the equipment is to be installed. The Purchaser and the Supplier shall mutually determine the measures that must be taken to comply with the mandatory requirements.

2. SURFACE PROTECTION 2.1 Cleaning All items shall be thoroughly clean and dry inside and out, (i.e. free of any dirt, grease, debris, or other foreign

matter) before painting and preparation for shipment. Cleaning procedure shall be in accordance with SSPC SP 1.

2.2 Surface Preparation Surfaces to be painted shall be roughened, preferably by abrasive blasting, to assure proper adhesion of the

coating system. All surface preparation and coating application shall satisfy the coating manufacturer's instructions.

2.3 Painting and Coating 2.3.1 All exterior surfaces of cast iron, carbon steel and ferritic alloy steel, with the exception of machined

surfaces, shall be shop coated with the manufacturer's two coat system consisting of separate primer and finish. Painting system shall be suitable for splash, spillage, and fume exposures in a corrosive environment. Suitable primers are zinc rich epoxy, lead and chromate-free epoxy, and zinc rich urethane. Suitable finishes are epoxy or urethane. Coatings shall be applied to a minimum 2.5 mil (63 µm) dry film thickness per coat.

2.3.2 When epoxy grout is specified on the data sheet, the underside of baseplates exposed to epoxy grout

shall be commercially sandblasted, in accordance with SSPC SP 6, and coated with a catalyzed epoxy primer compatible with the epoxy grout. The Supplier shall submit instructions for field application of the epoxy primer.

2.3.3 All exterior machined surfaces of cast iron, carbon steel and ferritic alloy steel shall be coated with one of

the following petroleum soluble rust preventatives, or equal: "Rust-Veto No. 342" from E.F. Houghton "Rust Ban No. 373" from Exxon Chemical 2.3.4 Weld bevels of carbon steel and ferritic alloy steel materials shall be coated for a distance of 3 inches

(75 mm) from the end of the weld bevel with a weldable rust preventive such as: "Deoxaluminite" manufactured by: Special Chemicals Corp. Ossining, NY 2.3.5 All internal surfaces of carbon steel and cast iron components shall be coated with a suitable petroleum

soluble rust preventative such as: "Tectyl No. 511M" from Ashland Oil/Valvoline 2.3.6 The Supplier shall include in the Installation, Maintenance & Operating Instruction Manual (IMOI) the

procedure for removal of all rust preventatives prior to commissioning of equipment.

DATE: 01 MAY 2003 ENGINEERING SERVICES BY KBR TECHNICAL SERVICES, INC. PAGE 3 OF 4 2.4 Closures 2.4.1 All flanged openings shall be provided with either 3/16 inch (4.75 mm) metal covers, 3/4 inch (19 mm)

plywood covers, or 90 mil (2.3 mm) minimum thickness black polyethylene plastic manufactured commercially for flange protection.

a. A full diameter gasket shall be supplied between the flange and the cover. The cover shall be held to the

flange by a minimum of four (4) full diameter bolts and nuts. b. Plastic flange covers may be held in place using friction plugs and sealed with duct tape. Plastic covers

shall be those manufactured by the following or an approved equal: Marine and Petroleum Mfg. Houston, TX 2.4.2 All threaded openings shall be provided with caps or solid shank plugs of metallurgy compatible with the

metallurgy of the component being capped or plugged. 2.4.3 All openings that have been beveled for welding shall be provided with metal or plastic closures designed

to prevent entrance of foreign materials and damage to the bevel. 2.4.4 If special items are sealed inside of equipment and must be removed prior to installation ( e.g. desiccant

bags, shipment bracing pieces), a prominent WARNING tag shall be attached to the closure. 2.5 Storage Each package shall be suitable for a period of 6 months of outdoor storage from the time of shipment so that

disassembly is not required prior to operation. If storage for longer periods is contemplated, the Purchaser will indicate such, and equipment Supplier shall recommend long term storage procedures. If packages must be stored in a controlled environment, or have special field attention (e.g. energize space heaters, nitrogen purging, or renewal of rust preventatives), Supplier shall so state in his proposal.

3. SHIPPING AND CRATING 3.1 Assembly for Shipping 3.1.1 Equipment shall be shipped fully assembled whenever possible with all auxiliary components properly

braced. Auxiliary components shall not extend beyond the edges of the shipping base. 3.1.2 When it is not possible to ship equipment fully assembled, it shall be the Supplier's responsibility to

partially disassemble the equipment so that it can be properly packed and protected. Sub-assemblies shall be packaged and shipped together. Internal bolting, gaskets, and small attachments susceptible to damage shall be separately packaged, identified, and attached to the main item.

3.1.3 Supplier shall provide drawings with components which require field reassembly. Identification tag

numbers shall appear on both component parts and reassembly drawings. 3.1.4 Cylindrical equipment not skid mounted shall be mounted on shipping saddles. When possible,

installation saddles on equipment should be used as shipping saddles. 3.1.5 When recommended by the original manufacturer, rotating equipment shall be braced so that shafts do

not rotate or move axially during shipment. Where applicable, motor brushes shall be lifted and the slip rings coated with rust-resisting compound.

DATE: 01 MAY 2003 ENGINEERING SERVICES BY KBR TECHNICAL SERVICES, INC. PAGE 4 OF 4 3.2 Shipping Crate 3.2.1 Large packages (e.g. crates, skids, pallets, etc.) shall be suitable for lifting with slings and forklifts, and

shall be suitable for rail, truck, or barge transport. All lifting lugs shall be clearly visible and readily accessible. 3.2.2 All items to be shipped loose (e.g. special tools, spare parts, etc.) shall be securely fastened to the main

shipping crate if practical. Shipping documents shall identify items in each crate. 3.2.3 Small packages (e.g. cartons, bags, etc.) shall utilize manufacturer's standard shipping container. 4. DOCUMENTATION AND TAGGING 4.1 A master packing list which includes the following information as a minimum shall accompany each

shipment: a. Purchase Order number b. Purchaser's Item Number and Service Description c. Gross and net weights d. Dimensions of each package e. Destination and consignee address f. Detailed description of contents of each package g. Complete or partial shipment indication h. Number of packages in shipment i. Origin of item. 4.2 Each package shall be identified with item and serial numbers and other special markings as specified by

the Purchaser. All material shipped separately shall be identified with securely affixed, corrosion-resistant metal tags and fasteners indicating the item and serial number for which it is intended. In addition, crated equipment shall have two (2) duplicate packing lists, one inside and one on the outside of the shipping container.
