1. Enhancing a sense of community through social media
Facilitator: Greg Wedman, Wild Rose School Division
Due to the size and breadth of rural school divisions, some stretching over many different
communities and large geographical areas, it can be difficult for people to understand the size
and complexity of a school division. Wild Rose School Division has been using social media to
tackle this challenge, sharing the great things that have been happening throughout the division
and at individual schools, creating a greater sense of community. This session will showcase the
triumphs and failures that the Wild Rose School Division has experienced and offer many tips
and ideas for schools or school districts who are considering a social media presence or want to
experience greater success. Workshop attendees are invited to share their experiences.
2. Cultural identity building- Details to come!
Facilitator: Ronald Boudreau
3. World Café: Advocacy and engagement

1. When lockdowns happen: Communications during a school crisis
Facilitator: Kayla Tishcoff, Peel District School Board
Discover proven strategies and response tactics to help you communicate successfully during a
school crisis. Whether there’s a stranger incident, a student confrontation or a lockdown,
workshop participants will learn how to develop and share critical and time sensitive
information with school administrators, staff, parents and media. Participants will leave the
workshop with a crisis toolkit, including template materials, tips on working with key
stakeholders and emergency contacts, and strategies for using social media to gather and share
information.
Facilitator: Steve Lapierre, District scolaire francophone Sud
3. From anti-bullying to social justice: Evolution of Stand Up. Speak Out.

1. Be true to your school: Understanding and powerfully communicating
your district’s brand
Facilitator: Brian Woodland, Peel District School Board
You know what you want from a brand: authenticity, sincerity, consistency, but how does your
district do as a brand? Do people--parents, staff, and students--even know what you stand for
and believe in—besides teaching and learning? In this timely session, learn how to define your
brand, and be true to it in all you do—from issues management to events to publications to
social media and everything in between. Plus, how to protect the value of your brand when
things go wrong (and they will). Be true to your school, and you can gain a major competitive
advantage--and better serve your publics too.
Facilitator: Marcia Enman, directrice générale, La voix acadienne
