    CHAPTER 1. INTRODUCTION

    1.1 PROJECT SUMMARY

The meaning of BLOOD DONATION is the dispention of blood for transfusion, and by

extension the procedure of drawn, test, storage and supply of blood and its component. The

blood transfusion is the transplant from the healthy body to another.A small amount of blood

is drawn, without hazarding the donors health and life.

Donation of blood is a sign of kindness and care for the fellow human beings. There is no gift

more valuable than a Gift of Blood, as it is actually a Gift of Life for the person who receives

it. Indiabloodbank.com is an online edge for bringing mutually giving blood donors and

patients who needs blood in India.

You can go to the nearest government approved blood centre, which is based on voluntary

non/remunerated blood donation and make your significant contribution to saving life of a

patient by donating blood. Your contribution is extremely valuable to us.

Everyday thousands of our fellow beings need blood, which can be found only through

voluntary blood donation.each of us and all together we can give life and hope to those who

need blood. This is matter of humanness and solidarity.

Voluntary blood donation is an act of bounty ,fellow feeling and a gift of life for those who

need it.First ofall, this is about our mode of life and attitude of mind.

    1.2 PURPOSE

Blood is collected, processed, stored, and distributed to maintain an adequate supply of whole

blood and blood components for transfusion as needed. Blood replacement may be needed by

people who have lost blood through accidents, burns, hemorrhage, or surgery. Blood or blood

components are also used in the treatment of certain types of anemia, various disease

    conditions, and for medical research.

    1.3 SCOPE

Rather than waiting for paper-based product-inventory data, donors lists, and blood stocks

information, they will have access to the information when they need it. The admin, rather

than gathering all the details from various data record books and tabulating the results, will

have the results automatically presented in easy to understand tables, charts, or graphs. This

    saves time for the admin.

This System also has some limitations like

Require continuous maintenance, information updating, and system upgrading

    Costly

    CHAPTER 2. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The blood bank will be having the capability of viewing the amount of blood stored in that

particular bank along with the different hospitals.

    2.1 PERSPECTIVE

The application will be a web-based blood availability information and the person who

    wants to donate blood.

    2.1.1 User-Interfaces

The user needs to know only the basic information about internet applications and need not to

know the specifics about this site. The user donor/receiver can manage their profile and

excess the database of the blood availability. It is assumed that user have sufficient knowledge

of English language and is familiar with basic computer and internet knowledge.

Summary of the major functions that this site will perform:

New Donors can sign up and create their profile.

Existing users can sign in and view their profile and edit it.

The person in need of blood can browse through the database of the donors categorized by

blood groups, area, gender, age etc.

They can get the database of the stock available in every hospital.

Information on blood donation camps held in different parts of Gujarat.

Admin will be able to keep the details of the upcoming camps.

The viewer can give there own reviews an ideas for the site.

Viewer will also be able to send there own ideas if any.

screen. Higher resolution will not be a problem.

    Any pointing device. (Mouse.)

    Internet connection.

    2.1.3 Software Interfaces

Any windows based operating system (Windows XP sp2 or higher).

Any web browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or Mozilla Firefox or higher

    version.)

    2.1.4 Memory Constraints

    At least 256MB RAM.

    2.1.5 Operations

The Database Administrator will be able to do the operations on the database i.e. on the server

side. He can update any information regarding the camp held, upcoming camps and etc

    2.2 FEASIBILITY STUDY

Feasibility study involves research relating to the different aspects that go into developing

software. Feasibility study of the problem definition or requirement was done to determine if

the requirement can be solved effectively given the budgetary, operational, and technical and

schedule constraints in place. The aim of feasibility study is to identify the best solution under

the circumstances by identifying the effects of this solution on the organization. A feasibility

study is a short, focused study, which aims to answer a number of questions:-

    CHAPTER 3. SYSTEM REQUIREMENT SPECIFICATION

This section contains the software requirements to a level of detail sufficient to enable

designers to design the system, and testers to test that system.

    3.1 EXTERNAL INTERFACE REQUIREMENTS

    3.1.1 User Interfaces

The following screens will be provided:

    Home page:

This page will the first page of the site.It will be having the all overview details of the

    different pages.

    Login Screen:

This screen will be the first screen that will be displayed. It will allow the user to access

different screens based upon the users.

This screen will be the next screen after the home page which will allow the donor to create

    his own profile.

User ID: Alphanumeric of length up to 20 characters.

Password: Alphanumeric of length up to 6 characters.

    3.2.1 Donor Information System

    3.2.1.1 Description:

The donor Information System is designed for having the personal information of donorv

which helps the acceptor to have the personal information like contact no., address, etc

    3.2.1.2 Validity Checks:

Only the donor with the role of data entry operator will authorize to access the CompanysManagement system database.

    3.3 CONSTRAINTS

    3.3.1 Hardware Limitation:

    No special hardware required.

    3.3.2 Safety and Security Consideration:

The database will be lost in case disc failure or system crash.

    3.3.3 Criticality of the application:

Due to limited features of DBMS, system may become slow with increasing number of

    records being stored.

    3.4 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Performance should be consistence and should provide data to online client very rapidly, but

finally the performance of the system is highly reliable on the performance of the server.

    3.5 SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT

    MGITER/CO/2008 13

  • 8/8/2019 Prelim Nary Report

    14/16

PROJECT ID: P2-4 MIS ON PADDY PRODUCTION

    3.5.1. Requirement Specification:

In order to design information system, the analyst requests the user to state his requirements. He

also finds out how they are met in the current system. Normally users statement of requirements

is description & not precise. Further the user does not explicitly start many points. A system

analyst should also try to find out whether he has understood fully the users statements.

    3.5.2 System Design:

The next step is to develop a logical design of the system. During this phase, the logic of the

program is designed, files or databases are designed & DFD is designed. The graphical

representation of the system makes it a good communication between a user & system

    analyst.

    3.5.3 System Implementation:

The next step is system implementation of the system. In this stage, programs are written,

database is created, user operational document is written & the system tested with operational

    data.

    3.5.4 System Evaluation:

After the system has been in operation for a reasonable period, it is evaluated & a plan for its

improvement is drawn up. The shortcomings of the system namely, what a user expected from

the system & what he actually got are realized only after a system is used for a reasonable

    time.

    3.5.5 System Modification:

A computer-based system is a piece of software. It can be modified. Modification will

definitely cost time & money, but users expect modifications to be made as the name

Software itself implies it is soft & hence changeable.

    3.6 SOFTWARE SYSTEM ATTRIBUTES

    3.6.1 Security

The System is password protected. User will have to enter correct password and user name in

order to access the application at the Bank to update the database. The Donors will be having

its own password in order to access their account.

    3.6.2 Maintainability

The application will be designed in maintainable manner. It will be easy to incorporate new

    requirements in individual modules.

    3.6.3 Portability

As the system is web based application any computers that are connected to the network can

    access the application.
