DESCRIPTION:Today you are going to make an ocean aquarium in a jar! Gather your supplies. Start by placing your plant in your jar and pouring rocks into the jar. Then pour water in the jar. Add your sea animals. Add shells or other ocean things you have at home. Then, screw the lid on tightly, ask an adult if you need help. Your aquarium has a solid foundation like the wise builder in the story. We can be wise and put our hope and trust in Jesus as our foundation. Jesus is our rock! We can look to Jesus at all times!

YOUR MISSION:Today’s mission is to complete the assigned tasks as you race through Ocean Exploration. Try your best to avoid the bubbles that send you backwards as your goal is to be the first player to cross the finish line. If you are a single player, you will race against time. How quickly can you get from start to finish? Let’s get started. Gather your supplies, follow the directions on the back of the board game, and HAVE FUN!

Each coupon is something special that you can do for your family. What a great way to spread God’s love. Have fun and be wise!

BUILD A HOUSEWHAT YOU NEED: - Graham Crackers - Teddy Grahams - Icing or Marshmallow Cream

WHAT YOU DO:

• Build a house using the graham crackers. Spread icing on each piece to keep the parts of the house together. Add Teddy Grahams or other fun treats to decorate it.

DESCRIPTION:Let’s be wise builders and build our house on a strong foundation. Jesus is our foundation!

FISHWHAT YOU NEED: - Goldfish - Ziploc bag - Silly eyes or sharpie to draw eyes on

the bag. - Clothes Pin

WHAT YOU DO:

• Fill the bag with the goldfish to 1/2 full, then twist the end and place the clothes pin on it. The leftover bag will create a fin. Next, draw the eye and mouth.

DESCRIPTION:We are continuing on our adventure to hear from God. We learned that building a house on sand isn’t a firm foundation. Let’s eat our sea snack while we listen for God in many places, even under the sea.

FAMILY DEVO: THE WISE AND FOOLISH BUILDERSWHAT YOU NEED: BIBLE, BALLOONREAD:• Adventure Bible- Matthew 7:24-27

RECAP Our story today was a story Jesus told. We can find the stories Jesus told in the Bible! We learned about two men who made houses. One man made a house on sand, the other on a rock. A storm came and the house on the sand fell down because the rain washed the sand away. But the house on the rock stood strong because it was on a rock.

Jesus told us this story to teach us that making wise choices is the best way to live. We don’t have to pretend that we know everything there is to know. We just need to know where to put our FOCUS. We need to trust that Jesus actually knows what’s best, and we need to pay attention to what He has to say.

We need to take a closer look at the Bible. It has 66 different books of history, stories, letters, and poetry that fit together to form God’s One Big Story. In the Bible, we can find the actual words of Jesus—God’s Son, the Savior of the world. When we hear His words and put them into practice, we build our lives on a solid foundation that will never, ever fail.

Remember, you can LOOK for how Jesus teaches us. All you have to do is FOCUS on God and spend time hearing from Him by reading the Bible. Don’t wait for someone else to do it for you. Take a closer look for yourself!

QUESTIONS:(Answer the questions while playing the family activity.) 1. How do you know what God wants you to

do? 2. What are some ways you can HEAR from

God? (I can go to church; read my Bible.) 3. What are some ways that you can DO what

God says? (I can be kind to my brother; I can share; I can obey my mom and dad.)

Extension Questions for Upper Elementary: 1. In what ways can you pay closer attention to

what God is saying this week? 2. Do you think God communicates with

everyone the same way? 3. What should you do if you’re not sure

about something you think God is telling you to do or not do?

FAMILY ACTIVITY Balloon Swat: Using a racket (ex. A fly swatter or one that is homemade using a spoon taped to a paper plate. If you don’t have a racket, use your hand.) Bounce the ballon on your racket while you answer one of the review questions listed above. Then, pass the balloon to someone else to answer the next question, etc. Don’t let the balloon hit the ground.

PASSPORT:Write about what you learned today in your Passport on page 7.
