Directions for using Prefix & Suffix Posters

There are 2 posters attached. One is for prefixes and one is for suffixes. Use these posters to introduce prefixes and suffixes or use them for review.

PrefixesPrefixesThey come in front of

the root word and changes its meaning.

un- not, opposite of

dis- do the opposite of, not

Sample Words

unhappy: not happy dislike: not like disappear: not being seen

redo: do again rewrite: write again

re- again

SuffixesSuffixesThey are at the end of

the word and can change the meaning of the word.

-ly in what manner

-less without

friendly: in a nice mannerfearless: without fearcareful: full of care

-ful full of
