1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

M/s. Shree Bajrang Sales Pvt. Ltd (SBSPL) was incorporated under the companies Act,

1956, has proposed a Cement plant in Maharashtra. In order to cater the need for

limestone & dolomite the company applied for the mining lease near village Hiwardara,

Tahsil Wani, Yavatmal District, Maharashtra.

State Govt. of Maharashtra has recommended for 171.09 Ha. of area for mining of

Limestone and Dolomite

The applied M.L. area over 171.09 hectares is covered within the Survey of India toposheet

No. 56 I/13 on a scale of 1:50,000 and is bounded by the Latitude 190 50’28” N to 19050’ 57”

N Longitude 780 53’ 08”E to 780 53’ 31”E.

M/s. SBSPL has initiated all the necessary steps for implementation of limestone mining

project in Yavatmal, Maharashtra. The capacity of the proposed limestone mine to cater the

need of cement plant is 0.2 MTPA.

The applied mining lease area covers 171.09 hectares consisting of 116.02 Ha Private Land

and 55.07 Ha Government Land.

The general topography of the study area is slightly undulating to flat. The general altitude

of the study area varies between 220-234 m above Mean Sea Level (MSL).

The proposed Limestone mine (171.09 hectares) will be developed as Fully Mechanized

Mine for the production of limestone @ 0.2 MTPA. Commercially exploitable limestone

deposits occur in this proposed mining lease. The net geological reserves are estimated to

be about 15.02 Million tonnes and the mineable reserves are estimated to be 12.56 Million

tones.

The cutoff grade of limestone is 53.74% CaO content. Since, the limestone (both CGL + MGL)

is having CaO-content + 42 % and MgO within 3 % (norm upto 4 %,), both are suitable for

cement making. Hence, for the purpose of mining, no differentiation between CGL and MGL

has been made.

Considering the mineable proved reserves 12.56 million tonnes and the proposed

production of 0.45 MT of graded ore for 5 years balance 12.11 (12.56-0.45 MT) the rated

annual production of 0.2 million tonnes, the life of the mine will be 12.11/0.2 = 60.55 + 5

=65.55 years (say 66 years).

After proposed exploration the present reserve will automatically get increased with the

increase in anticipated life of mine.

Considering the scale of operation, geological setting and the nature of deposit, it is

proposed to adopt opencast method of mining with single shift basis involving ripping /

dozing, drilling- blasting, manual sorting, sizing and stacking as well as mechanized loading

and transportation. In this mining lease area, the proposed method of mining will be

undertaken opencast mechanized method.

For proposed yearly production, the OBS will be removed by Dozer cum scrapper. The

required slope of 450 will be maintained for OB bench/benches.

The water requirement of the project is estimated to be 50 m3/day. 35 m3/day of the water

is required for dust suppression (within the lease and outside the lease in nearby villages),

plantation and dust vehicle washing. 10 m3/day is required for drinking purposes. The water

requirement will be met from boreholes proposed within the mining lease and from

rainwater collected in mining pit. Necessary permissions shall be obtained from the

competent authorities.

The power requirement will be met from MSEB grid.

Since, the limestone meets the quality requirement of cement plan, no beneficiation is

required for this limestone.

Presently, in this Mining plan, there is no proposal for reclamation of land, since, the depth

of mining pit will be only 15 m during this mining plan period. The ultimate pit limit for

limestone mining will be marked after completion of proposed exploration programme.

However, the fully mined out quarries, some will be reclaimed and others, if cannot be

reclaimed, the same will be developed as water reservoir, for agriculture and pisciculture.

The mining will be carried out as per the approved mining plan. During Mining Plan period,

the mining operation will be done by development of mechanized opencast method. The

plantation program will be taken up in the areas in future in a systematic manner and

plantation will be carried out, starting with soil binding grasses and shrubs followed by

larger trees species. Local varieties of plants should be given predominance along with

introduction of some exotic species. Broad casting of seeds of local shrubs will be extremely

useful in providing an immediate green cover.

Uncontaminated topsoil, will be meticulously removed and transported to the non

mineralized zone for future plantation.

Estimated project cost is Rs. 1.12 crores The capital budget for environmental protection

measure is estimated to be Rs 20 Lakhs, while recurring cost is estimated to be 10 lakhs.

The cost analysis in terms of economic viability of the project is presented at in this report.

No historical monument or public building exists near the area and within 10 kms radius.

However, few small temples located at close proximity of the villages.

There is no National Park, Wildlife sanctuary, defense installation or sensitive area located

within 15 km radius of the proposed mine.

The mining operations shall be carried out after obtaining all statutory permissions and shall

be carried out as per approved mining plan.

2. INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT / BACKGROUND INFORMATION.

i) Identification of Project and Project Proponent

ii) Brief description of nature of the project

M/s. Shree Bajrang Sales Pvt. Ltd (SBSPL) has established a Cement plant near Maregaon Dist.

Yavatmal, Maharashtra. In order to cater the need for limestone the company applied for the

mining lease near village Hiwardara, Tahsil Wani, Yavatmal District, Maharashtra. The proposed

Limestone mine (171.09 hectares) will be developed as Fully Mechanized Mine for the

production of limestone @ 0.2 MTPA . Commercially exploitable limestone deposits occur in

Project appraisal:

This limestone deposits in villages Hiwardara having total area 171.09 Ha in Tehsil- Wani in

Yavatmal Dist. (Maharashtra) have been prospecting by M/s. Shree Bajrang Sales Pvt. Ltd

(SBSPL), Nagpur.

Maharashtra State Govt. has recommended for 171.09 Ha. of area for mining of Limestone

and Dolomite

Mining Plan with ultimate capacity of 0.2 MTPA has also been approved by Indian Bureau of

Mines with Progressive Mine Closure Plan has been approved by Indian Bureau of Mines

vide letter no YTL/LST/MPLN-826/NGP dated 20.03.2003. (Annexure I)

In order to obtain environmental clearance as per the EIA Notification 2006 the

prefeasibility report is being submitted along with the application Form I for the project with

production capacity of 0.2 MTPA. The project is categorized as Category A project as per EIA

Notification 2006.

iii) Need for the project and its important to the country and or region.

Limestone is one of the major mineral deposits occurring in the Indian sub-continent. It has played

a great role in development of civilization and industrialization. The occurrence of limestone ore in

the proposed area is proved by the way of exploration and its production has important role in the

local cement industries. The applied M.L. area over 171.09 hectares is covered within the Survey

of India toposheet No. 56 I/13. The capacity of the proposed limestone mine to cater the need of

cement plant is 0.2 MTPA. The region, where the project is situated is mostly dependant on

agriculture and forest. The development of mining in the area is directly and indirectly going to

contribute in increasing employment, infrastructure, communication, and socioeconomic

infrastructure.

iv) Demand Supply Gap.

It is an essential constituent in Ferro-manganese, Steel and Ferro-alloys metal manufacturing and

as well as manganese based chemicals. Its demand in industrial area of Bhopal and Jabalpur,

Maharashtra.

v) Imports vs. Indigenous production. India ranks among the leading

producers of limestone in the

world.. The Indian limestone

market contains big suppliers

and small regional companies.

Limestone suppliers work in

collaboration with designers to

create a strong demand for

limestone in India. Backed by

significant investments in

commercial, infrastructure and residential projects, the Indian cement industry has recording

significant growth for more than a decade. Limestone is a key raw material in production of

cement and the cement industry is also expected to record growth. The interior and exterior

design industry is also a key driving factor for the growth of the limestone industry.

vi) Export Possibility.

The policies of Government on economic development have given various subsidies like slashing

the import duties and provisions for the Indian industry to grow indigenously. Hence, there is a

good possibility of export of limestone but the proposed mine shall be captive source for the

cement plant of the company to be established in Yavatmal District, MP.

vii) Domestic / export Markets.

Domestic market for Limestone is well also established.

viii) Employment Generation (Direct and Indirect) due to the project.

The mine will directly employ about 127 workers. There will be employment generation of double

this number in secondary and tertiary sectors. It is proposed to employ the local population

wherever possible in the proposed project activities.

3 PROJECT DESCRIPTION

i) Type of project including interlinked and Interdependent project, if any.

The proposed project is Mining by opencast fully mechanized mine and the mine will be captive

source for raw material @ 0.2 MTPA to the proposed Cement Plant in Yavatmal District,

Maharashtra.

ii) Location : Figure 1 gives the location of proposed Limestone/Dolomite Deposit.

Hiwardara Limestone & Dolomite mine is about 20Km from Wani town. Nearest railway station

is Kayar at distance 7 km. The SBSPL’S Cement Plant near Maregaon Dist. Yavatmal,

Maharashtra is about 35 Km.

iii) Details of alternate sites considered and the basis of selecting the proposed site,

particularly the environmental consideration gone into should be highlighted.

Mining is a site specific and has to be undertaken at the place of the occurrence of the mineral

and hence no alternative sites explored.

iv) Size or magnitude of operation.

The proposed mining Lease Area is 171.09 Ha with Production capacity of

limestone 0.2 MTPA. During the course of mining it is proposed to undertake exploration in the

granted lease area. The reserves may substantially increase in the Lease to be granted.

v) Project description with process details (a schematic diagram/ flow chart

showing the project layout, components of the project etc. should be

given).

Geological formations:

o Soil : Soil is pale brown in colour and is formed due to decomposition of Deccan trap. It is

found to occur as a thin layer at places. The thickness of soil is 0-0.5 m. For the sake of

calculations it is considered to be 0.5 m.

o Dolomite : Predominantly there are exposures of Dolomite overlying Limestone formation

all over the area. Dolomite is in shades of brown in colour. On the surface of limestone and

dolomite occurs in bands but the dolomite is found to occur as capping in the eastern

portion along the road.

The formation maintains a strike line of WNW-ESE with dips of about 10 to 20 degrees

towards south-west. The strikes and angles of dip are measured form the out crops and also

from Trial Pits. The thickness of dolomite formation varies from 0.8 m to 1.5 m. For the

sake of calculations the average thickness is considered to be 1.5 m.

Out of 13 trial pits given in the area, trial pit no. 1,2,5 6 & 7 have proved the existence of

dolomite3 bands along w2ith limestone and trial pit no. 10, 11, 12 & 134 have proved the

existence of Dolomite.

o Limestone : all over the area there are a number of exposures of limestone. The exposures

are due to erosion of Dolomite above. In this region below dolomite capping the limestone

formation is found to occur in depth which is proved by drilling and it nearby mines.

The formation maintains strike line of WNW-ESE with dips of about 10 to 20 degrees

towards South-West. The strikes and angles of dip are measured from the out crops and

also from trial pits. Limestone is fine to medium grained, massive and compact in nature

with grayish in colour. Out of 13 trial pits given in the area, trial pit no. 7 has proved the

existence of limestone.

Details of Exploration : In was proposed to give 2 trial pits (PTP-1 & PTP-2) from the floor of

working pit upto a depth of 5 m during 5th year of working after grant of Mining Lease.

None of the pits is given. However Lessee has drilled 12 bore holes in the northern part of

the area (BH-1 to BH-12). The details are given below.

Description of present mining methods : Present Size of Pits : Presently there are two

working pits in Limestone and one working pit in dolomite. The measurements of the pits

are as below;

Limestone : Pit No. 1 - 23 m L x 27 m W x 1.5 m D

Pit No. 2 - 21 m L x 23 m W x 2.0 m D

Dolomite : Pit No.1 : 108 m L x 15 m W x 3.0 m D

It is proposed to carry out mining operations in the working pits. The mining operations will

include removal of overburden, drilling by diesel compressors & jackhammer drill, blasting

and removal of Limestone and Dolomite to the surface screening and sizing. All these

operations are done manually. The drilling is being be done by Jack-hammers.

Regarding the precautions and measures of safety to be taken at the time of blasting, as

stipulated in Metalliferous Mines Regulations 1961, will be strictly adhered to in addition to

this the villages/local people will be suitably advised to take shelter in safety places at the

time of blasting. In addition wet-drilling, that will suppress the dust generation during

drilling and muffled blasting will be practiced. Blasting parameters are finalized by

experimenting and will be implemented in consultation with the concerned Statutory

Authorities.

The Proposed Production Programme: The development consists of removal of an

overburden, which occurs as a capping over Limestone & Dolomite. The details are as under

the figures are rounded off to the nearest zero.

Out of total production of limestone and dolomite 90% will be readily marketable and about

10% will be mineralized rejects. The estimated production as above is indicative. There are

many factors such as chemical composition, impurities present, texture of rock, percentage

recovery of useable ore, market condition etc. the production may vary accordingly.

The mine will be ultimate produce about 0.2 million tonnes of graded limestone per year in

subsequent years. After completion first five years, the balance reserve will be about 12.56-

0.45=12.11 MT (proposed ROM production during this mining plan = 12.56 MT). Hence, the

balance life of the mine production for 0.2 million tonnes of graded limestone will be 12.11 /

0.2 = 60.55 years. After the proposed exploration is completed, the reserve of limestone is

likely to increase, thus, simultaneously life of the mine will also increase.

Final slope angle at the close of the mine: The ultimate pit slope will be about 60° from the

horizontal which is sufficiently stable for limestone bench. However, for OBS bench, the

slope will be of 45°.

Ground water: Ground water table is expected to be at more than 20 m depth from surface

level. The deposit is planned to be operated up to a maximum depth of 8 m from surface

level during the mining plan period. Hence, the aforesaid depth of working would not affect

the ground water table.

vi) Raw material along with estimated quantity, likely source marketing area of

final products, mode of transport of raw material and Finished product.

There is no requirement of Raw Material in this project. Mode of transport of extracted

limestone from the mine to cement plant is surface transport by road.

vii) Resource optimization / recycling and reuse envisaged in the project, if

any, should be briefly outlined.

The mineral rejects will be blended in proportion to maintain the quality of limestone in cement

plant. Entire quantity of the top soil generated during mining will be optimally utilized for

plantation. Rainwater collected in mining pit will be used for dust suppression and plantation

after sedimentation. Use of solar lamps will be also made at office premises and for nearby

villages.

viii) Availability of water its source, Energy / power requirement and source

should be given.

The water requirement of the Limestone project is estimated to be 50 m3/day. 35 m3/day of the

water is required for dust suppression (within the lease and outside the lease in nearby villages),

plantation and dust vehicle washing. 10 m3/day is required for drinking purposes. The water

requirement will be met from bore wells within the mining lease area and rainwater collected in

the pit. Necessary permissions shall be obtained from the competent authorities. The power

requirement will be met from MSEB grid.

ix) Quantity of waste to be generated (liquid and solid) and scheme for their Management

/disposal.

There is no liquid effluent generation from the proposed mine. There will be hardly any waste

rock during the mining. If at all any waste material/rock is encountered during mining upto

ultimate depth, the quantity the same will be negligible. It will be dumped on the non

mineralized area and shall be biologically reclaimed.

x) Schematic representation of the feasibility drawing which give information

of EIA purpose.

The EIA will include an assessment of the potential impacts envisaged as an effect of the project,

during the operation of the mine. The assessment will be based on a consideration of the

individual components of the project.

4. SITE ANALYSIS

i) Connectivity.

The area is located in the Wani Tahsil of Yavatmal District and is well connected by Wani-Kayar-

Mukutban State Highway. The nearest town Wani lies at a distance of about 20 Km from the

proposed mine.

ii) Land use and Land ownership.

As per the administrative records the Landuse of the Mine is as follows;

iii) Topography (along with map).

The area prospected is almost flat to slightly undulating topography. In the applied ML area the

highest RL is 228 m and lowest RL is 220 m. The difference in elevation within the area is about 8

m. The Surface plan of the lease area is enclosed as Plate 2.

iv) Existing land use pattern (agriculture, non-agriculture, forest, water bodies (including

area under CRZ), shortest distances from the periphery of the project to periphery of the

forest, national park, wild life sanctuary, eco sensitive areas, water bodies (distance

from the HFL of the river), CRZ. In case of notified industrial area, a copy of the Gazette

notification should be given.

v) Existing Infrastructure.

Water supply in most of the villages is available. Latrine facility, Waste Water disposal, garbage

disposal were totally absent. Inter-village transport facility is available only for the selected

villages. While educational facilities & health facilities are not encouraging in most of the

villages. There is well established road connection.

vi) Soil classification.

Soil is the most important feature of physiography, the formation of which largely depends

upon the topography rock types and drainage. The cropping pattern in the area is governed

by the thickness of soil mantle, its texture and constancy. The soils of Wani tehsil are of

various types. Each type covering a well-defined tract which displays cropping pattern of

totally different level.

The soil of the tehsil is well defined and conductive for growing crops of various kinds. The

numerous varieties of soils known by many local names they are grouped under the

following representative classes. The soil conditions along Wani are rich with black regur

loams and clay loams.

vii) Climatic data from secondary sources.

The climate of the area is tropical. The rainfall data has been collected from Yavatmal

Taluka Office. The temperature and humidity has been collected from Yavatmal

Meteorological Station. The climate of this district, which is similar to neighbouring districts

of north Deccan, is characterised by a hot summer and general dryness except during the

southwest monsoon season. The cold season from December to February is followed by the

hot season from March to May. The period from June to September is the southwest

monsoon season and October and November form the post monsoon period.

Rainfall : The average rainfall during 10 year period 1995-2004 was 1,036 mm. Only during

four years rainfall had gone below 1,000 mm. The maximum rainfall was 1,379.8 m during

1995 while minimum was 716.4 mm during 2004. Records of rainfall in the district are

available for 11 stations for the period ranging from 10 to 49 years. The normal annual

rainfall in the district is 1012.1 mm. The rainfall generally increases from the northwest

towards the southeast. Ner, near the northwestern border of the district gets annually 870.3

mm while Panderkawda near the southeast border gets 1145.7 mm. The rainfall during the

southwest monsoon season constitutes about 87% of the annual rainfall, July being the

rainiest month. The variation in the rainfall from year to year is not large. During the fifty

year period, 1941-1990, the highest annual rainfall over the district amounting to 153% of

the normal occurred in 1959. 1972 was the year with the lowest annual rainfall which was

only 64% of the normal. In the same fifty year period rainfall less than 80% of the normal

occurred in 8 years, two of them being consecutive. The annual rainfall in the district was

between 801 and 1300 mm in 37 years out of 50. On an average there are 52 rainy days (i.e.

days with rainfall of 2.5 mm or more) in a year in the district. This number varies from 47

days at Ner to 58 days at Panderkowra. The heaviest rainfall in 24 hours recorded at any

station in the district was 339.0 mm at Panderkowra on 14th September 1959.

Temperature : There are two meteorological observatories in the district, one each at

Yavatmal and Pusad. The description which follows is mainly based on the records of the

observatories in the district. Temperatures rise rapidly after February till May which is the

hottest month of the year. In May the mean daily maximum temperature is about 42.10C

and the mean daily minimum temperature is about 27.7oC. The heat in the summer season

is intense and on some days in May and June the maximum temperatures may rise upto

47oC. The afternoon heat is sometimes relieved by thundershowers. With the arrival of the

southwest monsoon by about the middle of June, there is an appreciable drop in day

temperatures and the weather becomes pleasant. After the end of September, when the

southwest monsoon withdraws, the day temperatures increase slightly, but the night

temperatures decrease progressively. After October both day and night temperatures

decrease rapidly. December is usually the coldest month with the mean daily maximum

temperature at about 290C and the mean daily minimum temperature at about 13oC. In

association with the western disturbances which move across north India cold waves affect

the district and the minimum temperature may occasionally go down upto about 3-4oC. The

highest maximum temperature ever recorded at Yavatmal was 46.6oC on 11th May 1988

and 5th June 1995. The lowest minimum temperature ever recorded was 3.0oC on 30th

January 1980. The highest maximum temperature ever recorded at Pusad was 49.9oC on 8th

April 1990 and the lowest minimum temperature was 4.2oC on 4th January 1991.

Humidity : Except during the southwest monsoon season when the humidity is

high (70- 80%) the air is generally dry. The summer months are the driest, with the relative

humidity in the afternoons being about 20%.

Wind Velocities and Wind Direction: Winds are generally light to moderate with some

strengthening during the period May to August. In the post-monsoon and cold seasons the

winds generally blow from east or northeast.

viii) Social Infrastructure available.

Education : Education is a basic requirement for every human being. The governments

should utilize its entire recourses irrational manner to encourage people to become literate

to some extent since educated persons are assets ho help in proper development of the

country. In the Wani Tehsil, there are number of primary, middle and Higher secondary

school and colleges.

Hospital : There are number of Hospital, dispensaries, primary health centre and Sub

primary health centre available in that tehsil.

Transport : The transport facilities in the tehsil are well developed and wide spread. State or

national highway link most of the urban areas.

Communication : Communication facilities go a long way in information collection and its

dissemination in an effective and speedy manner. In the modern society, the roll of the

facilities in the socioeconomic development of the society is very well recognized.

Communication facility help in the flow of information from one place to another in shortest

time, thus helping administration and corporate managers to take crucial decisions relating

to daily functioning of administration and business dealings in shortest possible time. The

importance of developed communication network for the common men judged from the

fact that in rural areas. All communication facility like as phone, fax, printer, scanner,

computer etc are available in Wani tehsil.

5. PLANNING BRIEF

i) Planning Concept (type of Industries, facilities, transportation etc) Town and country planning/ Development authority Classification.

The mining will be carried out as per the approved mining plan. During Mining Plan period, the

mining operation will be done by development of mechanized opencast method. The statutory

provisions for the development of mine shall be followed to ensure safe mining practices and

conservation of mineral. During the course of mining protection and conservation of natural

resources and protection of environment will be ensured. The Environment Management Plan in

brief is described at Annexure II.

The details of population in the nearby villages is given at Annexure III.

iii) Land use planning (breakup along with green belt etc.).

The proposed mining will require roads for the transport of the mineral besides it will require

manpower to operate the proposed mine.

The capital budget for environmental protection measure is estimated to be 20 lakhs while the

recurring budget is estimated to be 10 lakhs.

The mining operations shall be carried out after obtaining all statutory permissions and shall be

carried out as per approved mining plan.

ii) Estimated project cost along with analysis in terms of economic viability of the project.

9. ANALYSIS OF PROPOSAL FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS)

i) Financial and social benefits with special emphasis on the benefit to the local people

including tribal population, if any, in the area.

The liberalization of the Indian economy has catapulted the Indian industry into new realms of

development through global thinking and related progress. The policies of Government on

economic development have given various subsidies like slashing import duties and provisions for

the Indian industry to grow indigenously, also there are clearly spelled guidelines for environmental

management. The project under consideration aims to contribute in the national objective of

economy and ecology developing hand in hand. The region, where the project is situated is mostly

dependant on agriculture forest and mineral resources where limestone has a major share. The

development of mining in the area is directly and indirectly going to contribute in increasing

employment, infrastructure, communication, and socioeconomic infrastructure. It is proposed to

employ the local population wherever possible in the proposed project activities directly or

indirectly. The proposed limestone mine would naturally have implications on the neighborhood

with reference to socio-economic aspects of society, environmental attributes such as land, water,

air, aesthetics, flora and fauna. In assessing the environmental impact, collection, collation and

interpretation of baseline data is of prime importance. Environmental impact analysis and

assessment, which is required for every industrial project, should preferably be carried out at the

planning stage itself.

In compliance with the environmental procedure the environmental clearance application is made.

Necessary scientific studies will be undertaken as per the guidelines set by the Ministry of

Environment and Forests (MoEF) and prescribed Terms of Reference. The

suggestions/recommendations of all the experts, competent authorities, and government officials

are being sought for the impacts of the proposed project. Views and guidance of the local residents,

community based organizations, social organizations are extremely important in order to devise a

full proof Environment Management Plan for the proposed mining project and also mitigate the

damages caused due to the project. Allocation of necessary funds, manpower and machinery will be

made to for the protection and conservation of all the components of environment. It is ensured

that all mandatory clearances will be sought from respective competent authorities before

operating the proposed Limestone Mine (171.09 Ha).

Annexure II

ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT PLAN

1.1 For Water Environment

Surface water is in the form of seasonal rain fall. It takes normal course and flows out of the

area along natural slope. No impact on surface or ground water is expected as no chemical

processing is involved.

1.2 For Air Environment

The proposed mining operations are mechanized and shall be done through deployment of

mining machineries. The dust from the haul roads and drilling is expected to pollute the air to

some extent. However, considering the production and nature of proposed mining operations

SPM level will not be more than the permissible limit.

However, on the haulage road water will be sprinkled to minimize the raising of dust in the area.

Further, for minimizing dust generation during drilling & blasting and loading following

measures are proposed:

Wet drilling of blast holes

Muckpile will be wetted before loading.

The drillers will be given protective appliances to be used during drilling operations.

1.3 For Noise Environment :

Noise Level is likely to increase due to movement of machineries, drilling, etc. The measures will

be taken to maintain the noise levels within limits. Periodical maintenance of equipment will be

carried out. Moreover, the building of green belt that would be continued along lease boundary,

dumping yards, haulage roads will help in restricting noise level. Noise due to blasting is

controlled by using NONEL.

1.4 For reducing ground vibrations :

Ground vibrations caused by blasting will be monitored in order to know their degree and to

build safe guards. The ground vibrations would be mainly at the point of blasting and further

away the vibrations will decrease and becomes imperceptible.

To reduce the ground vibrations multi-row blasting will be adopted and charge per delay to be

kept within limit. Blasting shall be carried out by using NONEL detonators, which controls air last

and ground vibration effectively.

Blasting will be done preferably in the afternoon. This will minimize vibration due to blasting and

check noise pollution. Ground Vibration monitoring will be done regularly.

1.5 Stabilization of Overburden Dumps :

The stabilizations of dumps will be undertaken by means of terracing of dumps wherever

necessary.

The dumps will be pitched from the slope side to a suitable height. Further, suitable vegetation /

grass shall be planted on the dumps for making it biologically stable.

1.7 For Socio -Economic Environment

The proposed mining activity is expected to have a positive impact on the socio-demographic

profile of the area. The local people shall get opportunities of employment in the unskilled semi-

skilled category. The overall standard of living in the area is expected to improve due to coming

Buildings & Structures : This cost includes cost of office & other service buildings. The cost is on

the basis of standard structures that are likely to be constructed. The prevailing rates have been

taken. The cost estimated under this head is Rs. 5.1 Lakhs.

Plant Machinery : Plant machinery consisting Compressor with jackhammer, Portable

explosive magazine 100 kg capacity etc may be required to be procured by the company. The

capital cost for machinery has been estimated at Rs. 17.5 Lakhs.

Office Furniture, Fixtures : The cost of the Furniture & Fixtures and Office Equipment has been

estimated from the available information. The total capital cost estimated under these heads is

Rs. 1.5 Lakhs.

Transport Vehicles: This is the expenditure on the transportation vehicle Tractor trolley 5

tonnes capacity. The cost towards this expenditure is estimated as Rs. 1.3 Lakhs.

Working capital Margin : This is the expenditure on the operation of machinery, salary, power

supply etc as well as the contractual cost for OB removal & other works. The cost towards

Working capital is estimated as Rs. 35.00 Lakhs.

Quality Control & Environment Protection Cost : This includes expenses towards establishment

of site laboratory for quality control during operation of the mine. Expenses towards

procurement of the laboratory equipment, equipment for monitoring air, noise and water

environment etc are included in this cost. The capital cost towards this head has been estimated

at Rs. 20 Lakhs and recurring cost estimated as 10 lakhs.

Thus, the basic Project Cost has been estimated as Rs. 47.6 Lakhs. Considering the provision for

Working capital Margin During Construction is Rs. 35.00 lakhs, the environment protection

cost extimated as 30 lakhs, the total cost of the proposed Limestone /Dolomite Mining Project

has been estimated as Rs 112 Lakhs.

The cost of the land is not included as dependent at the time of purchased

2. Production Cost

The Proposed Limestone/Dolomite Mining Project has been planned with capacity of 0.2 million

tonnes per annum. The production of limestone will be by open cast semi-mechanized method

by using excavator, jackhammers drills, tractor trolley, etc. all these operations are done

manually. The cost of production for limestone /dolomite mining per tone is estimated as under:
