Eurotherm Control InsideThe precision offered by the Eurotherm Control strategy isunrivalled, based on custom algorithms perfected over thepast forty years. Building this into the E+PLC400 embedsthe precision of our external discrete controllers within theflexibility of a PLC, forming a more economical solution.Unlike traditional PLC programming, complicated DIYfunction block building is a thing of the past andconfiguration is simply carried out by filling in the requiredparameters within Eurotherm function blocks in theCODESYS software. Closely integrated with our SetpointProgrammer and Autotune functions, Eurotherm PIDenables a fast but stable response in both normal andunexpected situations.

Flexible CODESYS® SoftwareFully compliant with IEC 61131-3, the industry recognisedCODESYS platform with IDE config tool enables the user toconfigure and maintain the program in a single PC basedtool, that is interoperable with CODESYS enabled PLCsfrom other suppliers. An extensive range of Libraries,Editors and Graphical Components are available forprogramming and visualisation of projects. OSCAT librariesare supported and editors include Alarm Configuration,Recipe Manager and the following programminglanguages :

• Continuous Function Chart (CFC)• Function Block Diagram (FBD)• Instruction List (IL)• Ladder Logic Diagram (LD)• Sequential Function Chart (SFC)• Structured Text (ST)

AutotuneThe control parameters in the E+PLC400 can be setmanually, but a great advantage is the Autotune functionwhich automatically works out the optimum control settingsfor the application. Easily performed by the operator, itautomatically calculates and sets many parameters, a taskthat would normally take a skilled engineer several hours tocomplete manually. The Autotune algorithm gives excellentresults over a diverse range of applications making it agreat time saving tool for precise configuration of heattreatment and other processes.

Setpoint ProgrammerSetting up a program is easy using provided spread sheetstyle templates. These can be shared and stored in acentral library then downloaded to the product via comms,HMI or digital event. Further storage for a minimum of 200programs of 32 segments is set aside onboard, withsegment types for Off, Dwell, Ramp Rate, Ramp Time, Wait and Go Back (repeat).

The SPP is tightly integrated with Eurotherm control andrecording strategies, to provide a comprehensive but quickto implement solution for the smooth running of multipleloops in the process.

Eurotherm Specific Function BlocksA range of specific Eurotherm Function Blocks containingour well respected IP are selectable from an extensive listof functions and function blocks in the CODESYS libraries.Available blocks include PID, Autotune, SetpointProgrammer, Batch Recording and Archiving, with ZirconiaProbe as an option for heat treatment applications.

Using our precise, stable control strategies, helps saveenergy and increase efficiency by getting to the setpointfaster and eradicating overshoot and oscillations which alsoresults in better quality end products, finished to therequired high standards.

Secure Recording StrategyEurotherm advanced recording and archive strategies areavailable to ensure the safe capture and storage ofvaluable process data, in tamper resistant UHH filesdeveloped by Eurotherm through years of experience. Upto 30 groups can be recorded, each with up to 127channels and vital data can be backed up by automatictransfer to USB Media, or multiple servers via FTP. Thehistorical data can be viewed from either a Panel HMI or PCusing Eurotherm Review software, Eurotherm OnlineService (EOS Director) or a web browser.

This best in class form of data recording meets the moststringent of regulatory requirements including AMS2750,CQI-9 and Nadcap.

SpecificationBase UnitGeneral The base unit is fitted with the E+PLC400 processor modules plusadditional I/O modules. These modules plug onto terminal units, whichprovide the wiring interface between the plant or machine and the I/Omodules. Bases are available in 4 sizes to suit the number of modulesrequired in a particular system.

Communication between the I/O modules and the processor is effected bythe use of a passive internal module I/O bus running along the width of thebase.

Each module position is tracked separately for additional security duringlive replacement of I/O modules.

The base consists of an aluminium extrusion, the internal I/O bus andmounting supports. It is designed to be DIN rail mounted or directly fixedto a bulkhead or mounting plate.

MechanicalBased on the number of modules and allowing for future expansion, theE+PLC400 can be supplied in a range of standard base sizes to suit processrequirements. The dimensions and weights of the different base sizes aredetailed in the table below:
