• Engineers generally specify Douglas Fir where maximum strength and service is required.

• In all strength tests, it is superior to Western Hemlock, Western Pines, Cedar and Spruce.

• Normal moisture content is low, and it dries out easily.• Because of the very large log sizes, it is available in large

sizes and long lengths and in very good grades.• Douglas Fir is one of the most stable wood available in

commercial use and is classified durable. It can be pres-sure treated to increase normal life span.
