Manufacturing
Entrusting our 3 in 3 strategy (to only steer the company to any targeted market if we feel we could
be top 3 in within 3 years) has proven successful. PBA will remain nimble even and especially when
we grow in size. Our focus will continue to be to groom our PBA human talent to remain in the
forefront of robotics and industrial 4.0.
In the age of technology, speed trumps bulk. Never in history has there been a time when
companies of varying sizes; of different countries across the world could compete equally because
of technology. PBA continues to anticipate the flow of technology and economy, while continuously
charting new directions forward for the group in this every changing tides. The disruption in
traditional business models creates business opportunities never seen before. PBA embraces
change, like wind stoking wildfire. What starts out as a spark when properly nurtured, could grow in
to an unstoppable force of nature. At PBA, we focus in triggering and nurturing small ideas that
would one day be game changers. PBA will capitalize on this industry 4.0 era to make a mark in the
world and be the usher of the world order.

GoldenRetriver
The PBA Group’s GoldenRetriver is an advanced robotic goods-
to-person technology for automated inventory storage and
replenishment, picking and combining orders in fulfilment and
distribution centres. The system seamlessly adapts to changing
inventory profiles, demand patterns and peaks. Modular system
architecture ensures scalability to increase storage volume or
fulfilment throughput independently, by adding more storage
racks or robots, as needed.
OCTOPUS
OCTOPUS, an autonomous intelligent vehicle (AIV), uses the
patented OMNI-DRIVE Technology that enhances
maneuverability. With a 360-degree panoramic view, OCTOPUS
has the capability to avoid obstruction and move around in all
directions autonomously.
OCTOPUS was built with the safety features that makes it
suitable to work around humans, as well as move about in an
open area.
It is a basic fleet that can be customized to suit various industrial
applications. OCTOPUS is quick, deployable and can adapt to a
factory environment.
The GoldenRetriever System is an integrated Warehouse
Automation System that uses model GR200 advanced good-to-
person mobile robot for automated inventory storage and
replenishment, picking and combining orders in fulfilment and
distribution centres. The system seamlessly adapts to changing
inventory profiles, demand patterns and peaks. Modular
system architecture ensures scalability to increase storage
volume or fulfilment throughput independently, by adding more
storage racks or robots, as needed. The robots lift and
transport racks from storage locations to picking stations and
vice versa on an optimised route. The Fleet Manager or
Warehouse Control System is the control centre software that
schedules the tasks for all the robots in the system, plans their
route path dynamically and facilitates and optimised order
fulfilment process.
A Wi-Fi network is used for communication with the robots. The
robots feature precise positional navigation, integrated lifting
deck to lift the payload up, anti-collision detection mechanism
and an intelligent battery management system. The system is
modular, compact, scalable, and simple and easily integrates
into existing logistics infrastructure. The GoldenRetriever
System promises an enhanced fulfilment process with faster
response time, accurate picking, increased pick rate and
increased productivity
The collaborative robot HCR-5 is easy to control and is flexible
in responding to changes in production layout, effectively cutting
investment and operating expenses. It not only automates
manual work but also provides a safe and convenient work
environment for employees as a substitute for industrial robots
With a maximum payload capacity of 5 kg, HCR-5 is best suited
for light-weight tasks requiring simple control. The robot can
easily automate repetitive jobs, such as pick and place,
palletizing, packing, and screwing
PBA’s high precision robots was designed for high precision and
speed. Adopted in multiple applications in a variety of industries,
pick-and-place, vision inspection, dispensing stations and high-
accuracy placement machines inspection.
PBA’s precision robots are powered by PBA robotic components
and PBA motion control technologies. The robots are able to
achieve accuracy of 0.8 micron.
Machine builders partner with PBA precision robots to achieve
their required performance. This interdependency between our
customers (process automation) and PBA (robotics and
automation) allows us to build a deep rooted and long working
relationship.
The smart factory system employs a smart technology that
uses Internet of Things (IOT) hardware to access all sensors in
production machines through internet and upload all the sensor
status data to a public cloud based server operated by cloud
service providers. The system monitors key processes inside
any production line by collecting operational data from key
process stations in the production line. It then ingests
operational data to the cloud server. The server analyses data
and performs deep analytics. Using performance trending
analysis on data it predicts behaviour of stations and
components, makes proactive analysis and enables preventive
maintenance using data analytics. The system provides a
dashboard display for a near live view of the production line
performance and monitors stations and provide a birds-eye
(summary) view of its performance. The PCs of the machines
used in the production line generates IOT triggers and event
logs for major events that occur in the line. These include start
and stop of machines in the line, start and end of main
processes in each machine, material entry and exit from each
machine, error stops, error stop time and finally for line output
unit. These IOT triggers and event logs from the PCs are
routed to an IOT gateway that is linked to the cloud server
through internet. The cloud server uses these triggers and
event logs to compute total down time, total stoppage time,
total productive time, material wait time, process time, error
stop count, stoppage time and down time for each machine and
total line output units.
PBA motion control is able to control not only PBA’s robotic
components, but also other companies’ products. This allow all
the robotic components to work off a common platform, and
hence synchronize more seamlessly with each another.
PBA motion control and PBA robotic components coupled with
our vision and machine algorithm capabilities allows PBA’s
customers to build solution for their automation needs from one
party. Hence guaranteeing ease of use, and lowest cost of
ownership.
PBA robotic components was the foundation in which we build all
our technologies on. Our patented direct drive motor winding
technology allowed us to build extremely efficient motors in a
small space.
Building on that, PBA combined motor and mechanical knowhow
into building a wide catalog of robotic components that are then
adopted by robotic and automation customers world wide
Robotics Automation Centre of Excellence (RACE), an initiative
to drive industry 4.0 change across Singapore and the S.E.A.
region, is the leading force in robotics and automation training.

Industrial vision solution products provides customers with
ready-to-run vision solutions that are cost effective, simple, easy
to setup and maintain, and scalable for a wide range of
applications. The standard products are targeted at low to
medium end applications, while customised solutions are
available for high end and complex applications. The standard
vision solution products use a standard hardware consisting of
PC, one or two USB 3 cameras, lens, lighting and lighting
controller. The application software is factory configured and
setup for a specific product model. These product models offer
targeted solutions for specific application areas like defect
detection, mark and label inspection, and measurement and
quality monitoring.
All complex vision tasks are abstracted into tools indicated by
icons and arranged in drop down menu for easy access. The
general purpose vision systems come with a rich tool set for a
wide range of applications. The system supports different USB3
cameras and can be setup quickly and easily. Standard
solutions need just configuring of tools in pre-loaded job sheet.
Image logging and playback for offline debugging are standard
features that help troubleshoot systems remotely. All systems
have sub-pixel accuracy and provide Ethernet and digital I/O
interface to handlers or other systems.
